Is highlighting or even underlining in pen verses the most degenerate act you can commit? You're essentially graffiting on the word of God.

Hebrews 10:16 KJV

>You're essentially graffiting on the word of God.

That said, I never write in books full-stop. I have an almost fetishised belief that books are so precious, so valuable, and something you pass on to the next generation, that marking them up is just not something I can ever do, even if they are trashy old novels or the like. That's what coming from a poorfag heritage where, when you're a kid, your parents can finally afford books, but you had to be meticulously careful with them because they were expensive and so on.

But, THAT said, my first bible is like a multicoloured neon Las Vegas of books

5c926e No.529508

You can buy one book that you can make notes on. It's just a book, it's paper. Christianity is not a religion around a book.

I'm against it, while I'm young.

I inherited a family members bible who passed away, I always enjoy coming across a scripture they highlighted or underlined.

is this /pol/ autism?

369381 No.529546

get a cheap one to take notes in, have a nice one as a family heirloom

that being said I knew a youth group leader who threw the Bible around and stepped on it to prove a point that it’s just a bible. yeah I get it, but have some respect dude

30f1a3 No.529569

No, it's not. Unless you're blotting out verses that you don't like you're not doing any harm by marking important passages in the text.

dd715f No.529570

>>529567

No, but they hold their book on a pedestal, never allowing it to touch the ground or be marked. It can't be placed on a shelf lower than any other books and it is a literal crime to do so.

Only a Muslim would put wood pulp and ink on a pedestal.

I could see this being degenerate or even sinful if you're one of these Baptists who worship their King James Bible.

>the bible is the sacred word of God

Wrong, protestant.

Only and I mean ONLY Christ Jesus is the word of God, aka the Logos.

The bible is just texts and letters recounting what the Word said and did, written by wise men who had God experiences.

a symbolic representation of the word of god, translated into your vernacular for convenience, is not literally the word of god you imbecile. One must text mark any tract if they wish to engage with it as fully as they can. THE bible, which is to say the gestalt of all the scriptures, is holy:~a~ bible is only a book–glue and cellulose.

1 Peter 1:23-25

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

24For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Believing that making notes in a Bible constitutes some form of graffiti against the Word isn't respect, it's veneration. We don't venerate objects and you know it.

I have a somewhat conflicted view on this. On one hand I'm obsessed with preservation and keeping media in the state they were intended to be in. On the other hand, personal notes can add a lot of character to a book, without those notes it's not different from any other copy. Does anyone have an idea how to take notes in a non-destructive way?
