>read the greek philosophers

>read the patristics, the saints, the bible

>monotheistic worldview activated

>fine-tuned universe has an intelligent cause

>morality becomes coherent, intuitive and easy to justify

>relativism, not even once

>life has meaning and purpose and it is good

I just had a few conversations with an atheist and an agnostic and I couldn't believe how easy it is to argue the theistic worldview against theirs. It almost feels like cheating.

They borrow so many values from Christianity but when pressed to justify those values they can't without God. And so many of their "freedoms" and "human rights" contain internal contradictions, like how it's okay for a woman to choose her bodily rights over a fetus's because no-reason-at-all.

this so much. Imagine what a country would be like with out Christianity. Atheist are just 30 yearold virgins who lives in their moms basements

Pretty easy:

sentient person with a brain > non-sentient non-person without a brain

I hope you read your Scholastics.

Now begin with the moderns. Descartes. Hume. Kant. Spinoza. Schopenhauer. Nietzsche.

Too scared? Little theist….

Everyone starts with those now. They aren't edgy or interesting anymore.

They're not meant to be edgy. Sorry anon but not everyone reads to add tokens to their self-image. I'm trying to encourage you to read more and more - especially important philosophers, and even moreso important philosophers that you or I disagree with. Don't get complacent. Just because your normie friend doesn't know what he's talking about doesn't mean all non-Christian philosophy is so easily dismissed.

3d2c0b No.524334

Again, everyone has dabbled with atheism has read those.

They are the default now.

Nothing they say will feel profound or interesting to the modern person since the atheistic/nihilistic/relativistic worldview is the default setting for modern people.

>Again, everyone has dabbled with atheism has read those.

What? No. You give people too much credit - only, I think, to dampen the credit of the philosophers I mentioned. That is like saying that every edgy teenager and college student who has dabbled in Communism has read Marx, when at most they've probably only read the Communist Manifesto.

You make a mistake assuming all, or most of those philosophers are simply atheistic/nihilistic/relativistic. Was Descartes? Was Kant? Their ideas and objections to old philosophical dogmas are important beyond magnitude. You act like they were part of some cynical plan to dismantle Christianity, rather than good faith, sincere questioning and truth-seeking.

Both Augustine Aquinas read and engaged with the intellectual opponents of their times. We are in a great position of responsibility ourselves.

>>524335

I'm tired and I didn't want to go on listing everyone. Some 20th century philosophers like Heidegger or Wittgenstein would've been nice. /christian/ doesn't give secular philosophy enough credit.

It's pretty much literally because a woman can conceive of the idea of shoving a dildo up her butt but the fetus can't. Liberalism is about collaborative sinning, the innocent don't help in that process so fuck them.

It's not life for a life, so the comparison is a categorical error (notwithstanding your being wrong about only one of them being a person). It's usually the convenience of a person vs the right to life of the other.
