You give yourself waaay too much credit.
Every time opiates are discussed, these ideas are surfaced.
The health minister herself said, on CBC news, (in defense of safe injection sites).. "People are putting poisoned drugs into their bodies..". Imagine if the statement was simply "people are putting drugs into their bodies."
Headlines that followed a spate of overdoses in Toronto read "Health Canada urges users not to use drugs alone." instead of "Health Canada urges users not to use drugs."
It's amazing how one word can change an entire message. If you think the breakdown of values is bad now, this is just the begging.
I'm guessing the progression of this logic will eventually go as follows: Drug users are "stigmatized" so we're setting up information booths in local high schools to "educate" kids on safe drug use.
It's coming. We may not be degenerate enough today, or tomorrow, but this shit is repeated over and over again and you bet when it begins to gain traction there will be an article discussing how "this was never a new idea" sans the year 2017.
The health minister also (in the same CBC segment mentioned above) "legalizing?" opiates? I'm not sure if that's how it came out but it gave me the impression of buying "safe opiates" from the government.
I won't shit on you for linking to your own thread on another site since there was effort put into it, but this is something you can definitely spot coming from more than one official. Read all pieces about opiates and you'll see how fucked things will be when morals are soft enough.
