The city of Roma sits around the sacred underground lake of the same name. Gifted to the people of Roma by the god of the earth when the god of the sea and storms turned his fury to the land due to a slight long debated, and now storms almost constantly beat upon the shores and up through the Corridor of Winds. The cities that call the lands home are connected through long and twisting underground tunnels, the most straight paths carved by human hands, and defended by carving away paths in the hills and mountains. The city of Roma is built in a similar away, away in central lanes from the central lake. Crevices leading to the underworld break through the carved and decorated lanes every now and again. Men walk the streets with purpose, and smoke breaks towards holes in the ceiling. Welcome to Roma, sitting upon the underground trade route and rich with tin and iron. To the east lies the Corridor of Winds and the nomads that brave the storms, and to the south the great port of Tyre upon the only island known on the Sea of Storms. Now the winds change, and the fate of Roma lies in your hands.

Name: Igna
Position in the City: Maiden Magic User
Fluff: Gift of Prometheus reborn. Beautiful wielder of fire. When the father of Man brought his gift of fire he did so carrying it within a brand of iron. So it is that Igna must have iron to call forth fire. These hands only know magic, music and iron. No weapon has advanced past her veil of fire. The importance of fire in the development of mankind, the importance of magic, and the importance people place on beauty have allowed for her to benefit from veneration of the people and allowances in society not often granted to women.
+Skills:
+10 Perform: Lyre
+10 Perform: Singing
+5 Focus (Magic)
+Renown: 10
+Inventory: Iron Rod (96%), Lyre, Maiden Garb (Prometheus)
+Spells: Control Fire - You may control and create flames within a range around you. Using this ability causes iron around you to rust and decay, and with no iron around you the ability does not work. The stronger the flame, farther away from you, and weaker focus (lower roll) the faster the decay occurs.
+Bonus: Maiden of the Flame - You are a woman born with the blessings of the gods, and many come seeking your guidance. You are in charge of the Temple of The Immortal Flame, which symbolizes the knowledge of man and prosperity of the city. You can use fire magic, have the authority to do religious practices, and some will come to you seeking to give religious service or for the blessings of the god of fire. Every turn roll a d100, on a 90+ you get one such person of interest.
1 Improve Focus (Magic).
2 Improve Perform Singing.
3 Perform Lyre, Singing; to Improve Renown. +20.
4 Maiden of the Flame
Igna scrutinized a bowl of amaranth porridge garnished with wild dill and served in an aspen bowl created by a respected craftsman. "No venison today then?" She spoke with a slight pout and a cold look to the vista of the city. It was a question she was asking often these days as while she as a young woman commanded respect as Maiden of the Flame who might sup on venison on any day she pleased, the Temple often accepted offerings of amaranth grain and it was expected that the offerings go towards the upkeep of the Temple and not be traded by any but a trader who had been blessed and sanctioned to handle the offerings of the Temple. They had no such trader as of yet. That would change soon as Igna had prepared a piece that would move the hearts of the people and bring renown not only to her but the Temple and its Patron.
Igna would spend the evenings mediating and purifying the self of worldly thoughts to better achieve harmony with her God and his Fire.

>Name: Ferra
>Position in the City: Royal Treasurer
>Fluff:
Born to a blacksmith of no particular prominence, he seemed like he would grow up to be a normal blacksmith himself and live on to take his father's trade as anybody else in the city would, people got suspicious when he was able to correctly point out magic users without having seen them before. Once he claimed that he could see the magic shimmering around them, the suspicious were confirmed, he was a magic user himself, though of what kind nobody knew.
After days of experimenting, by sheer accident he found he was able to infuse his father's in-progress sword with the fire of a maiden's flame, which quickly cemented his art something useful instead of being near pointless. Since then he's quickly risen to a position as the Royal Treasurer due to his smithing skill which he had honed and his related magic.
>Skills:
20 Blacksmithing
5 Perception
>Renown: 10
>Inventory: Smithing Tools, Flaming Sword (First success), 100 Copper Coins, Tunic.
>Property: High End Domus [Forge], 10 Slaves (Housekeepers), 10 iron bars.
>Spells:
Infuse Power - You may infuse an object with the power of another blessed. This will cost the other blessed the same as casting their spell normally, and will be much narrower than what they can normally do but anyone can use the resulting magic item, or the magic will always be on. Most objects can only receive a single magic type, but if you yourself make the item you can work the object with your own power to allow two different magics to work in conjunction.
>Bonus:
Eye for power - You have been able to see the magic around others even before you awakened to your own power, and as such you are used to reading these auras you see. When interacting with another magic user you can attempt to see what kind of magic they may have, and even aid them in creating new spells as you read their aura in their attempts.
1&2: Train Blacksmithing
3: Search and catalog potential magic users who are willing to have me infuse items with their power.

Name: Tiberius Bretonius Regulus
Position in the City: Captain of the Guard
Fluff: Tiberius Bretonius Regulus was born in a small town to a family of hard-working smiths who taught him three things: how to smith, how to fight and to always follow the straight and narrow. From a young age he was conscripted to fight in one of the many wars during Roma Subterra's hectic founding, and while on such campaigns he learned the hard way of the horrors of the world. Tiberius then resolved himself to rooting out and destroying the evils of the world and putting criminals to justice, and after his years of military service were through he returned to his roots in Roma Subterra and rose through the ranks of the Cohortes Urbanae or City Guard, upholding the law and ensuring that evildoers were caught and punished. Soon he distinguished himself by the capture of several high-profile criminals and rose to the position of Captain of the Guard. Now, in this great city, as long as Tiberius and the Cohortes Urbanae roams the streets, the LAW will be FOLLOWED and criminals will pay the PRICE!
+Skills:
+10 Command
+10 Knowledge: Law
+10 Fighting: Gladius and Shield
+5 Smithing
+Renown: 10
+Inventory: Lorica Segmentata, Commander's Helm, Gladius, Shield, 100 Copper coins
+Property: Domus, 10 slaves (housekeepers)
+Bonus: Scum senses - you have good luck, or a 6th sense, for when something in a theory is wrong. This has aided you in your blacksmithing training and your rise to being captain of the guard. When investigating or smithing you may reroll a dice and take the better, and this bonus recharges after finishing a case or a blacksmithing project.
1-2. A guardsman's work is never done. I'll take another member of the Cohortes Urbanae and hit the streets, looking for any signs of trouble or any news of wrongdoing. Just the presence of the Cohortes Urbanae alone should be enough to dissuade most criminal activity from occurring, and if trouble does arise we'll be on the scene to fight it.
2. In my downtime I'll practice my swordplay, being prepared for anything is what keeps guardsmen alive to patrol another day, after all.

Name: Livius
Position in the City: Artist
Fluff: Art brings into the world what is of the mind.
For Livius, this takes on a secondary meaning.
The gods, whether in genuine blessing or in malicious prank, have given Livius the power to grant life to his creations. His sculptures, his paintings, even at times his writings come to life. Not easily mind you, for there is great cost and effort involved. The higher quality the sculpture, the more well written the character, or the more precise the painting the better the result. Cursed by that which was marred and deformed for it is an ill becoming lot. Life does not come from nothing either. To turn stone into flesh, one must have a source of flesh nearby, such as a cow or a horse.
His talent is new to him, still being mastered along with his skills. To him is given a great quest to bring some of the cities greatest myths to life. The finest warriors, the most viscous monsters, and of course, the prettiest women.
+Skills:
+10 Sculpting
+10 Painting
+5 Knowledge; Myths
+Renown: 10
+Inventory: Sculpting Tools, 100 Copper coins, Tunic.
+Property: Domus, 3 Stone blocks
+Spells: Mark of Life - You may finish a sculpture with a magic mark that consumes meat, bone, and the statue to bring the statue to life. The statue will take it's personality and mentality from it's creation, and may die on creation if the statue is bad. The mark will be visible as discoloration of the skin of an unnatural color. You can give the creature orders similar to a tamed and trained animal, or willing person.
+Bonus: Pygmalion - You are blessed by the gods to be able to bring statues to life. With this power many are willing to become your patron. You will, sometimes, also fall into a streak of creative fervor, forgoing sleep and eating for working time. You may double successes on sculpting for a turn for half successes on everything the next turn.
1. What better way to practice than by doing something simple. Sculpt a humble servant, crude but effective, to do my bidding.
2. Practice my painting as well. See how well I can, for example, paint a loaf of bread.
3. Look around for job opportunities.

1. You begin to work on focusing your magic, sitting and meditating while focusing on a flame. It is hard with all the goings on as many are wishing to meet you and get your blessing. It seems that there are rumors of people disappearing and many wish for the flame of Prometheus to protect them from the dark. +1.2 Focus (Magic)
2&3. You begin to sing and play the Lyre to help ease the minds of everyone, and practice a bit. While it does not put many of the worried people to ease it does show that you want to help. Sadly you only have rumors and not actual facts. +8.5 Singing, +1 Renown.
>>50274
1&2. Your training is going quite well, talking with some of the blacksmiths who usually aid you with your work as a blessed. +7.0 Blacksmithing.
3. You look over the list of magic users with your own notes on how willing they are to work with you on enchanting objects. The maiden of light Zena has been working with you regularly and needs little prompt, it helps that she is 12. With her many of the richer areas and public works have the Everlast Torchers to light the area. The maiden of fire you have rarely worked with. You have never worked with Livius the life sculptor and arn't sure if your magic and his are compatible. Then there is Venicius the earth shaper who is getting on in the years but is still willing to trade a favor for a favor.
You are working on making another rod to funnel light magic into when you meet Zena again. Everything is going well until one of your friends enters your domus and gives you some bad news. "Your father is missing."
+Health: Broken Hand.
>>50281
3. You practice your swordplay with the other guardsmen. You have the other guards use normal weapons, daggers, and improvised weapons. They still get the odd hit on you every now and again but you are getting better. +6.2
1&2. The day starts like any other day, patrolling the streets for any sort of criminal activity. You head into the poorer areas, where crime is more rampant. Rumor has it that people have been disappearing in this area. You can see it is true in their eyes, the people are afraid. An unusual fear, the fear of the unknown. Some of your guards talk to them, and they say that they are being taken to the underworld, that the god below is angry. You hear a scream nearby and move your troops as fast as they can run. The scream came from a rarely used side street. You see blood, but no body. A crack to the underworld is nearby, and drops of blood can be seen leading up to it, but no drag marks.
>>50349
1. You seek out some contracts and find a few possibilities. A few merchants that want some body guards. There are also rumors of attacks by animals in the upper tunnels being more frequent as well as some rumors of some traders not returning. You can probably capitalize on either of those by talking to the guard or the merchants families.
2. You set some people to spread that you are recruiting and get a good group of people looking to join you for regular pay in food. You think about 100 can be useful if trained.
3. You practice giving commands in battle with your old companions. They take great delight in trying to shake your concentration with insults, punches, and thrown objects. +8.0 Command.
>>50356
1. You begin sculpting the form of a man. It will take a bit longer but you have the base down, and just need to make the details. All in all good practice, but it is the fine details that make your sculptures come to life. +6.5 Sculpting.
2. You take your paints and start working on painting some food. Not your best, you are better at painting sculptures after all. +2.3 Painting.
3. The military is always looking to have some beasts for protection and war, and the enchanter Ferra has been working with other blessed and may have an opportunity. Otherwise most do not seem to desire to get a new statue or creature made currently, or at least you have not heard of any.

I redouble my efforts to commune with the flame in meditation; it is with this blessing that I will contribute to the city. The truth will find its way to me and when that hour comes I will be ready to perform my holy duty.
The people will have an opportunity to light their torches with a flame of Prometheus. Miracle must be used conservatively so I will start a fire with the slightest flame from my finger tip; then people may make their offerings and light their torches to carry with them through the city that they may hold their own against the dark.

1. You make a deal with a local guard captain, you will help with finding the missing people from the area of his jurisdiction for a sum of 100 copper from their funds. Odd for the city but the man, the oldest living blessed in the city, has long ignored his appearance and focused on his craft. Seeing your hand he says he will do it when you heal, but you will help him create a new spell. You know he has long been annoyed that he may only shape the stone, and it seems he wishes for more. 2. You easily make the apple sculpture from the larger waste pieces. The stem of the apple did break of, but you were able to cover it with paint and use it to add detail to the break. +9.7 Painting.
3. You read up on some legends. The most prominent is the great Storm Bird. The creation of the god of the seas it is the beast that revenges the plains ever now and again, bringing great storms and tornadoes with it. There is also the great earth serpent that is said to have tunneled through the mountains, bringing these tunnels to be and is said to be able to escape the underworld using these tunnels. You are in charge of the Temple of The Immortal Flame, which symbolizes the knowledge of man and prosperity of the city. You can use fire magic, have the authority to do religious practices, and some will come to you seeking to give religious service or for the blessings of the god of fire. 3 Petition the city council to devote more resources to investigating the recent troubling disappearances through song…and the respect of the Temple. +18.5 Perform: Singing
4 Maiden of the Flame.
As the times grow ever so much darker with these recent rumors of walking dead stalking the lower tunnels it becomes clear that keeping a militant mind is necessary. The Gods make themselves invincible first and then sought to displace the wild forces of the world. The only way to improve the situation is to shed light on and draw attention towards these problems, the glory of God comes through acts of kindness and acts of duty.
I have composed a new song. Slow and somber, less words and more spirit. The unease of the people must be resolved.

The statue will take it's personality and mentality from it's creation, and may die on creation if the statue is bad. The mark will be visible as discoloration of the skin of an unnatural color. You can give the creature orders similar to a tamed and trained animal, or willing person.

1&2. +7.2 Focus (Magic) as you continue to practice your battle focus if the king ever calls upon you to aid the legions.
3. After recent events you create a song and sing for the city council. It wasn't your best performance, but it was still good and many are moved by your dedication to the people. More resources are put into the finding out about these rumors. +1 Renown.
4. While you are taking visitors and blessing people you are interrupted as a spooked temple guard enters the temple. You bless the final citizen and usher him out. The temple guard, which you see now has the insignia of the sun god painted on his armor and shield, gives a quick glance around the room before ushering his charge. A girl of only 12, with odd blond hair that is rare in the city, and in the dress of a maiden herself. Zena, someone you helped raise as she is an orphan and a blessed that can create light. She rushes to you and holds you tight, shaking and crying. "Big sis, please help." (Talking is free)

1. It is a pretty poor apple, especially because you have never seen the apple which is from the region north of the mountains, and you spent more plant material than needed, but it is an apple. It even has the seeds. Would be cheaper just to purchase some local goods though.
2. You arn't sure how you would gather some birds, or what in Pluto's name a chicken is, so you make a goose. After some biting you are able to snap it's neck and get the corpse.
+Injury: Bitten hands
3. You find that while just talking to people about getting bones and innards that would be enough to get you what you need usually, it doesn't this time. It seems that the recent disappearances are causing people to be distrusting, especially with odd requests for bones and the like.

It is the guard that pipes up. "There was some, thing that came up from the cracks behind the temple, where Zena's room is. That thing looked like a moving corpse; dead eyes, wounds, the lot. Killed one of the others by biting into their neck. I got Zena out as fast as I could, but I saw a few of the others fight it, and it just ignore their blades. Zena wanted to come here, said you could stop them." Zena holds tighter as if to confirm the story, then begins to sob harder as she remembers her guards, some she probably grew close to, dying to protect her.

1. I am gifted of the gods to bring cold stone to living flesh and sinew. To bring that which was in thought and imagination into reality.
I shall craft the seed of a fruit which groweth faster and sweeter than any known so far. That farmers shall praise me for!
2. Experiment some more with sculpting new things which not yet seen nor heard. Chickens are small . . .but what if they could be bigger? There are myths of the great chicks of the heavens who grow to the size of horses.

1-3. You make your way to the temple of the sun and rapidly move to where the incident took place. Guided by the normal priests you find that the door to the room was barricaded to the best of the priests' abilities but there were no attempts to breach it from the other side. Entering the room you find only a single corpse, and not one of a guard. The man's body is covered in stab wounds, but there does not seem to be any blood from his body, certainly some splashed around the room though. The blood leads to a hole leading to the caves below the city. One of your guards examines the body and pulls out a broken stone totem in the place of a heart. He says it cracked along a fault and broke, might have been stabbed by the guards.

1. You work the stone and use a bit of left over plant matter to create a seed. The fruit that should come of it will be similar to the one you created before. The plant will be a vine that grows quickly and wraps around anything near it.
2. You still don't know what the hell a chicken is so stop trying to meta you bastard. Either way you start working off the base of a goose, but not as temperamental. The creature will be large, about the size of a deer, and the egg is the size of your head. You have it so that the creature can create eggs that are not able to give life and can't fly so it doesn't run away. You also make sure it can eat grain.
3. Your senses telling you that the egg and seed should be as it should you find a farmer from a nearby lowland village selling his goods in the city. After some convincing that the giant goose will probably not kill him he is willing to take your blessed creations but asks that you create a few more just in case of failure, and for breeding the big bird. He also requests that he get most of the profit since he is the one farming and raising them.

Take the broken totem. It is probably a magical or spiritual medium animating this strange body.
1/2/3 A malevolent blessed one, a Curse, is likely the source of this and as a friend, a spiritual guide, and civil servant of my people I cannot allow them to continue bleeding this city. With my guards in tow I will descend and burn away the evil that is trying to drag this city to hell. It was lucky the guards were able to break the stone heart of one and reveal the truth. Now I will destroy his army by burning out these cold hearts of stone with only a fraction of the effort it would have taken me otherwise. Just in case I will send word to the city council to send reinforcements.

After informing him of the creature and their stone hearts he decides to follow you down into the dark, century in tow. You arn't really given the option to refuse. You descend down, flame held high to give light. You find some scrapes and blood, good markers of where the bodies have gone. The further you go the more signs you see of the dead having been dragged down here. The supposed numbers continue to grow and many stains are old, at least a few months according to the captain. Finally you enter a larger cave and find 20 creatures. Moving corpses with signs of their death, eyes glazed over yet they have no trouble seeing, and some with arms or legs broken, yet the move on caring little about the damage to their bodies. 3. You start working on the design of the earth serpent. It will take a while as you can not add more magic to it without trying to learn another spell. You start your work with design. You finally decide to go with a design that has crushing teeth and an internal pouch for the crushed up rocks. It will have to come out and eject the pouch every now and again.
Egg/Seed (4 Turns Left)
1. Okay, fine, make a MALE giant goose
2. And some more seeds
3. And work on the serpent too!

1-3. Your flame pours forward, but the dead do not stop initially. Even lit a flame the creatures continue to pour forward, singular in their goal of killing you and your guards. Thankfully many begin to drop dead, some once you hit them in the chest, but many die after a bit of time of being on fire. Unfortunately some of those on fire make it to the soldiers and a few are taken down, but the enemy was nearly destroyed by the fire and the rest are cleaned up by the soldiers. A few soldiers lie dead, unlucky in having the burning corpses bite their throats, others have burns and cuts. (98 allies left, 10 wounded)
The chamber lies filled with the burned corpses of the enemy, and a few of your own. On the other side is the entrance into the deeper caves.

1&2. You make the egg and the seeds, giving them to the farmer again. It will take another [5 turns] for it to show results but you turn your mind to other tasks.
3. You finish the sculpture of the snake, giving it a fierce pose as it crushes rock with it's mouth. It's body twines around a pillar of rock as it constricts it. It's head is armored and made for digging. All that is left is minor details, details you know will shape it's personality and then it can be brought to life.
Event progress.

+18.5 Perform: Singing
+22.7 Focus (Magic)
+1.9 Ceremony (Religious)
+Renown: 12
+Inventory: Iron Rod (92%), Lyre, Maiden Garb (Prometheus)
+10 Flame Guard, moral boosted.
(98 allies left, 10 wounded)
