Get a job with your city? They get decent benefits and wage but its pretty dead-end unless your looking to get a government job.

A good example is that my buddy is a garbage collector for the city, 20$/h wage with benefits in a area with a $10 minimum wage.

not OP but exact same situation. could I get some good city jobs? Post Office is impossible to get into and garbage collectors are out of jobs because automated machinery does all their work for them.

Check out your local power or water company. Both offer decent entry level pay and some still offer pensions
