With hip hop and rap music dominating the music industry, how do I enter the industry doing nu-metal/ hard rock?

A rock band that is doing very well is bring me the horizon.

I was thinking that to survive in this industry your music has to be innovative, have different elements from different genres incorporated into your music, just like the band KoRN, a nu-metal band, has evolved to using EDM and collaborating with EDM artists.

I tried discussing this somewhere else but they either said "you won't become a rockstar" or "rock is dead faggot".

Any thoughts /biz/?

Any thoughts?
