I know of a similar experience of someone and if it isn't working it could be a better solution. This guy I knew had difficulty with a instructor who he described as a complete bitch who he didn't feel confident with because she just kept criticising him. It was very difficult for him to get a lesson without her as she serviced one big area probably always available as a result. He had a travel to another suburb a distance away to get someone else for his driving lessons when he bought so many lessons with the company. Starting fresh with someone could be good for him tbh

Even when my driving was highly erratic because I was really stressed and anxious my driving instructor kept going on the lesson. It may be best to find a new instructor, shit happens and it sounds like a mountain slide that each problem got him more irritated but you are a learner. He should only give you advice when you are pulled over, he may give you hints on how to drive but it should be more than ''keep turning, stop" as basic instructions when reverse parking.

When you are more confident an instructor is good to help build you up before the test (someone who is assessing you is nerve racking and it takes away some of stress but not all, at least for me). The techniques they teach you looking over the shoulder matters, as the test instructors can deduct minor points in NSW that result in a major fail. Physically turning your neck to look over your right shoulder to see your blind spot for at least one whole second becomes proof you checked it before merging. Then it's all a numbers a gain to make sure you don't make too many minor points to fail. These techniques are also good when around shopping centres because people will walk behind your whilst reversing and you only notice them when looking.
