> Finland was a relative latecomer to industrialization, remaining a largely agrarian country until the 1950s. It rapidly developed an advanced economy while building an extensive Nordic-style welfare state, resulting in widespread prosperity and one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.[13] However, Finnish GDP growth has been negative in 2012--2014 (−0.698% to −1.426%), with a preceding nadir of −8% in 2009.[14] Finland is a top performer in numerous metrics of national performance, including education, economic competitiveness, civil liberties, quality of life, and human development

> Federal treasurer tells WA to explain to the states/him how fixing the gst carve up is in the nations interest

Because there's no problem with having a couple of states running at different paces, there's a problem with the federal government trying to do things for each state individually, and applying it nationally

Seriously though, 70% of wa's gst (~ 5 bill total) is probably only what of the 20 - 30 bill totals the housing-boom states are pulling

share the load a bit eh, you've already taken the whole income tax

It might be nice to limit the house of reps to no more than twice and no less than half the number of senators per state, just to start to rebalance from one state's population hijacking the country

Idiot, DEMAND for Sydney housing is sky fucking high because every Obied, Chink and Pajeet wants to live/invest their property portfolio in Sydney.

Look, long story short - Australia has an aging population. This means that there aren't enough young people to replace the older peoples. IF demand is HIGH it is not because there are more young people who want homes (remember, the old have a tendency to die, or fill up old folk's homes as they retire with shit-all to their name but their properties, which they would need to sell in order to fund their own retirements in most cases) but rather because of immigration. They need homes too and also want to buy and are allowed to. (((Banks))), (((market speculators))) and (((politicians/investors))) all know this - why don't they increase the supply to meet demand? Because housing prices would drop, wouldn't it?. That drop means that the (((Banks))) can't supply ridiculous mortgages with (((interest))) to make more (((profit))), (((speculators))) cant make their higher (((commissions))) on sales of said properties and those who (((invested))) would see the value of their investments drop.

Now, people under 30 something simply cannot afford to buy a new home, let alone a home in the suburb that they grew up in (the nerve of these young people). Wages haven't exactly increased in relation to the pricing of owning a home (let alone raising a child). In some cases the job market has completely evaporated, in essence, due to globalism (which nobody in this country ever needed, I mean we HAD the capacity to be self-sustaining as a NATION for a long while before out-sourcing became a thing) and it is only getting worse because of a simplistic population, who as you put so adequately >What are you complaining about for? Their property is far more valuable.

It ISN'T more valuable! IT SIMPLY COSTS MORE! THEY AREN'T MILLION DOLLAR HOMES, THEY ARE THE SAME HOMES AS THEY WERE IN THE MID 80'S YOU DOLT!

DO YOU THINK THIS IS REASONABLE?

 No.121735>>121760

> DEMAND for Sydney housing is sky fucking high because every Obied, Chink and Pajeet wants to live/invest their property portfolio in Sydney.

Yes, that is the market.

>why don't they increase the supply to meet demand?

They are, the housing industry is the new mining boom, they are building houses everywhere. The problem is they all want houses in Sydney, you can't just build houses where there already are houses and as I said, these other ones are much cheaper but people want the expensive Sydney ones.

>THEY ARE THE SAME HOMES AS THEY WERE IN THE MID 80'S YOU DOLT!

Yes but people are WILLING to pay more for them now, as I said, it is the market, they would not cost so much if nobody was willing to pay for it.

>DO YOU THINK THIS IS REASONABLE?

Yes.

How autistic are you?

Do you not get that Government letting fucking foreigners buy property is creating a, as you put, a god-damn boom - not in new homes (both state and federal figures show that mortgages for INVESTMENT is at an all time HIGH, NOT mortgages in NEW HOMES - which is at an ALL TIME LOW, Hell even the ABC is reporting on this!) in pricing that is artificially sustained through poor policy?

Do you not understand that the Government and the (((Investment))) class aren't going to let the price drop because it's good for them and their (((investments)))

Do you not understand that this is going to fuck you in the end?

Do you not understand that this is already fucking the 30 somethings and under?

Are you this blind?!
