I think both of them know racism is more prevalent today, but the only example I gave is more nationalist leaders and my feels. this is out of laziness and because I'm sure they already believe that things are more racist today.

That's part of the brilliance behind using these terms and memes. the WP white power hand sign is literally just the "OK" hand sign. So taking widely used and inane things and using them as dog whistles creates very little, if anything one can do to prevent or stop their use as such.
The point is merely that these exist, and are things to be watched for and examined by individuals who come across them, so they can be wary of their use.
Because in the end, if a racist uses a mirror, the mirror shows you a racist. But the mirror itself isn't racist.
