my conception of morality is solely to do with the wellbeing of living things. I generally mean humans, but I'm entertaining the idea of applying it to animals in this case, given they are conscious creatures.
conscious creatures can experience a range of things. they can experience pain, hunger, excitement, depression, anger and whatever.
so given that conception of morality, what is morally bad would be things that cause harm, suffering, anxiety, or pain on the creature. and what is morally good would be things that cause it pleasure, or fulfill its dopamine.
We have an industry that means a lot more conscious minds in the form of farm animals exist, and they exist to sate our appetites. They are given enough food and resources and muscle movement to make them their tastiest, and then we kill them.
Scoots has said that it somewhat matters to him the manner in which they die, preferably painlessly, as opposed to terrified, which has to do with conscious wellbeing.
so is it worse to kill an animal? think of it as sacrificing a conscious, feeling mind.
there are cases one might even say it's okay to sacrifice a human to feed starving humans.
so it's an easy yes to say it's okay to kill an animal to feed a starving family, when you prioritize humans.
most of us live in a world where we don't have to sacrifice animals. our nutrition can be taken care of artificially or with plants. it's an option we choose because we're used to it, and we sorta never really entertained feeling bad about it. MANY of us, including Scoots, will have some personal, arbitrary moral compromise... like we don't want them to die in pain, or that they at least lived a good long life on a free-range farm. Surely we base this on a scale of the wellbeing for conscious creatures.
so why not fuck them?

its amusing to pretend I personally advocate for bestiality, but I'm just dissecting the standards we have towards how much we care for other species.
if the priority for our practice is mental wellbeing, then my argument seems to be fair, and I do this because everyone here has some morality towards how we feel about the treatment of other species.
asides from the transmission of possible illness, which can be avoided by using protection, or the pain of the animal, which can also be avoided, the standards of not being allowed to touch animals a certain way is arbitrary and doesn't inherently fall into a negative category if our priority is their wellbeing. just like how we call some forms of contact on other humans not okay, and some are, and the evolved moral stance would be to base it on consent, and not the Bible.
