Windows 10. I've heard quite a few complaints about people's old games not working on it. Last occurrence was Settlers 3 acquired through GOG. He couldn't get it to work at all so he asked me if it worked for me.
All I did was download the exe, double-click it and click next, and it worked.

I use Ubotnet because despite successfully installing Arch on a vm, I messed up somewhere when installing the grub both times.
Or I think it had something to do with the way I did my partitions cause I was not using the right partition table.
Also my SSD had just died and I was somewhat desperate.

You did not have sound because you probably set up your sound drivers incorrectly or something. You probably just needed to install something like pulseaudio.
Which is surprising because Ubuntu is actually one of the distributions where you are less likely to mess up during the installation process so I would have to say that one was on you.
But for someone like you windows is fine I suppose.
Before my ssd died I had a w10/ubuntu dual boot in which I only used windows for gaming since I was not fond of wine at the time and new to linux.

Yep, although sometimes you encounter applications that need some extra library or an option ticked which can cause issues with other applications, so keeping applications separate can be a good idea. PlayOnLinux / PlayOnMac helps you manage multiple wine environments, and keeping applications in their own environment is exactly what Valve's Proton does.

I have a reason to use linux and even then my list of used commands is not that big.
apt, apt-get, directory stuff like cd, ls.
I also use gcc and the java commands a lot.
Oh right since I use i3 as my wm God bless i3, I also use killall -9 process_name
quit
I also use dmenu which can be handy.
But that is about it in terms of routine commands.
Nothing special really.
