What are some shows/mangos where a side character totally eclipses the MC or is much more likable?

Ryoga was more relatable than Ranma, and closer to the flawed character of Ataru from Lum. It's like Ataku represents the hot blooded males from the 80s, while Ranma is the quintessential shy MC of the 90s-2000s. Turning magical tranny seemed to have exhausted his sexual libido toward actual females.

Is the Ranma manga any good or is it the type of thing that works best in amimation? I was looking for something older to read and considered it. I've never watched the anime either

I like both but the manga has the better art for sure also more details.

The manga is better imo. I haven't seen much of the anime to be honest, but I followed the manga for quite a while until I eventually stopped buying it. In retrospect, I don't even remember why I stopped. Maybe they dropped it and I forgot about it? Either way, it's a fun read.

Manga is lewder and with less filler. Ranma was born ecchi after all.

Most Jojos are outshined by their supporting characters Polnareff is the best character in Part III. Giorno sucks and everyone else in the gang is more interesting than him. I'd almost even say Speedwagon is more interesting than Jonathan.

>almost

I'm going to withdraw coolly from that comment.

The OP image is a good example. This season I'd pick Kaguya-sama. Eromanga also comes to mind.

Kumagawa's popularity is one of the most entertaining parts of the series. An underdog villain is already a more interesting type, but the way Medaka Box leans into characters understanding the role they have to play in a shonen narrative really sets it in place. He's a pathetic mid-story shonen villain, but he doesn't let it get him down.

KUMAGAWA DID NOTHING WRONG!

Lord Yomi from Babel II. The story starts off as a fairly simple "boy discovers fated destiny" style, where he becomes a mighty warrior, powerful psychic, gets three invincible servants and a supercomputer in a secret base as an advisor. He meets his rival, discovers his plots and foils them. The series continued on further than the originally planned story was to go for however, and shifts more often into the villains perspective as he uses his wits and political control to attempt to defeat an established near-immortal hero. No wonder Giant Robo cast Babel II as the villain.

It'd be easier to list anime where this ISN'T the case. The side characters are almost always more interesting because you aren't forced to spend time with them 24/7, and you're viewing basically a highlight of their cool moment. Hell, up until the Isekai craze happened and all MCs became overpowered shitheads, the side character was always the most powerful and coolest character of all, surpassed only by the MC's bullshit "emotional powerup" that happened whenever the story decided he needed to finally do something useful.

>Levi.jpg

Why him specifically though? There are other good characters, but half the fanfiction seems to be this guy sucking endless amount of cock.

 No.91822

Reminder that Levi is a jewish name. Its not even an ebin Biblical one or European appropriated like "-berg". Straight unfiltered jew name.
