Who the biggest westaboo in anime industry? Is there any good westaboo theme anime and manga?

 No.90231

>hooktube

heh, hello newfriend

 No.90234

Katsuhiro Otomo, Shinichiro Watanabe, and Hiroyuki Imaishi are probably the industry's most well-known westaboos who show it in their work. Tezuka was also a westaboo, but he gets a pass because at the time there was nothing but that to influence him.

You should check out Rintaro's stuff sometime (his NeoTokyo segment is a good start). He selectively blends eastern and western animation techniques in his work and the results are pretty interesting.

>Who the biggest westaboo in anime industry?

Hiroya Oku, no doubt. Don't even dream of anyone getting closer to the complete stereotype. Proof you say? Read one issue of Gigant and tell me you didn't want to puke.

You could say everyone was a bit of a westaboo, 40 years ago when everyone copied Star Wars and Star Trek. And it wasn't a problem, since it was the good stuff. But nowadays? It's all capeshit and jewllywood.

Howdy /a/, my name is Kenichi Smith.

I'm a 27 year old Japanese Toonaholic (Cartoon fan for you foreigners). I draw cartoons and comics on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior American games. (Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty)

I train with my 1911 every day, this superior weapon can shoot straight through steel because it kicks ass, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my gun license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak English fluently, both the Midwestern and the East Coast accents, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about American history and their Constitution, which I follow 100%

When I get my American visa, I am moving to New York to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Nickelodeon or a game designer!

I own several cowboy outfits, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to America, so I can fit in easier. I keep cool to my elders and seniors and speak English as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in America!

To be fair, old Disney was a very influential studio back then. Ever wonder why the Japanese or maybe just Asians as a whole fell in love with many of the west's fairytales? I reckon that it is Disney's films that brought it into the spotlight.

>>90228

Definitely Kenichi Sonoda, however his brand of Westaboo perfectly manage to translate well into the anime medium and went on into a cult-classic.

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.

I'm a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I have never watched macademia, but second hand reports give me the bad feeling that nothing ever happens and it's like an unholy union of Harry Potter and capeshit.

Tons of shit happens. People just don't get that it's a big origin story for kids learning to become the next generation of superheroes.

Shit happens. Its just people feel as if there isn't enough pay off.

A major plot event happened pretty early in the series and people have been saying/felt that the series is stagnating because it hasnt gotten such a major event again since then. There is shitload of setup for happenings but that shit has been teased since the previously mentioned event and its like 2 years now and we still have yet to reach that. Plus the mangaka seems to have been struggling with the mangaka schedule/life and has consistently delivered shorter than from the earlier parts chapters. All this just adds up and people are feeling frustrated at time although there are exciting moments sprinkled in (shonenshit standards that is). The manga juggles villain arcs and school arcs and it feels like the school arcs often overstay their welcome.

If you view/read it all at once it's "slowdown" is way less felt.

>union of Harry Potter and capeshit

I've never read or watched HP beyond the first movie so I don't really know what you mean. As for capeshit its way more coherent but starts off very simple and plays it pretty safe. It bois down to "Naruto but not absolutely fucking retarded and also its capes".

>tfw no anime about a post-nuclear US western with a fuckton of gun autism

 No.90619

>>90313

There was even an anime in the 1980s called Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics which I watched in the early 90s on Nick Jr. when I was a little kid. I had no idea it was even anime until I looked it up online and saw it under the category and the Japanese names in the credits.

The art style of old anime was very much like western animation and was heavily inspired by Walt Disney animation.

Fallout: New Vegas as done by Trigger or something?

 No.90657

>>90330

It really is stagnating after the AfO fight though. Only the Gentle/LaBrava arc was genuinely interesting and not obviously struggling to forward the plot, especially the Yakuza arc that was a very sad attempt to extend All Might's death flag.

IMO prequels to the story and background development would be far more interesting than trying to drag it forward. AfO's arc was obviously the Franchise's Frieza arc.

I think there was a manga about a post nuclear desert or some shit. It was pretty funny too, until the end that is.

Goddamnit i kinda forgot the name.

>>90636

Fuck no, Trigger would be a bad pick to adapt Fallout: New Vegas into an animu. Mainly because Trigger's highly stylized look and bright color palettes clashed with New Vegas' rustic feel and calm tone.

They can however, adapt Fallout 4 into something better.

>And it wasn't a problem, since it was the good stuff. But nowadays? It's all capeshit and jewllywood.

Stagnation of the most vanilla garbage is commonplace in Western and Oriental entertainment, for the most part anyway. I blame corporatism and degeneration of spirit as the largest, overall factors contributing to this.

But the desert isn't very comfy in the first place. You could say a beach is like a desert, then you have plenty alternatives. How about postapocalyptic ocean instead? Conan Future Boy was comfy.

Ahh there you go, right on the fuckin mark! By the way i think it’s safe to assume that Mad Max solidifies the post-apocalyptic desert wasteland setting and ingrained it into the wide masses.

>>90320

Funnily enough, Marvel used to have a line of weeb (as in made to emulate the style of mango) comics that are just called that, i think it was called Marvel Manga or some shit, i dunno some /co/mrade dug it up before the board became a fucking ghost town. It’s a reminder that way before Marvel made bank with their capeshit flicks (though admittedly, some of them were good), they were on the opposite side of the cultural exchange.

>>91142

>Apocalyptic Ocean

Like what, fucking Water World? Although i did once read a wicked japanese science-fiction novel wherein a scientist experimented upon his own fucking kid along with several other unfortunate offsprings to condition them to be able to survive the coming apocalypse of the ocean submergimg fucking everything. Too bad, the whole research is illegal, shit hits the fan, and the experimented children was only able to reach a small desolate island before expiring.

If you haven't, watch A Boy And His Dog. It's the movie that Mad Max plagiarized.

>Like what, fucking Water World?

Basically, all that's left is small islands.

 No.91214

>>91179

Not who you're replying to, but I've seen both, and wouldn't call it plagiarizing. A Boy And His Dog is definitely weirder. The only thing they really share is the desolation of the post apocalyptic world in The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. Still haven't seen Fury Road. The first Mad Max movie isn't anything like A Boy And His Dog at all, really.

Studio 4°C has a history of this shit. They've adapted a feminist fairy tale into something actually interesting, worked with a western director, and collaborated with western studios at least twice. Vid related is a collaboration they made with some Russian studio 10 years ago.
