From the creator of Sakamoto Desu Ga (an excellent series which did everything perfectly, manga & anime & ost to be appreciated in that order) comes the story of two perfectly identical twin brothers who are adopted as one under the alias of "Hitori-kun" by fooling their parents with wacky switcheroo hijinks. Their goal is to find out who killed their dirt poor mother in their bizarre hometown while avoiding getting found out by anyone else.
It's a truly remarkable manga, in part because the art is really well done and despite them being twins who try to match their beats to appear as one, you can really tell that they've got diverging personalities and are really just that good, but also because its setting is some 1950's "Americana" town, but other than the aesthetic it uses 100% japanese customs and names and it really sells you the bizarre nature of their circumstances.
>2) Shishunki Renaissance David-kun
A shonen about the statue of David's unrequited love for Venus-san's lusty eyebrows. The whole thing is sprinkled with a lot of artistic and shonen references and the ecchi aspects are superb. The humor is also spot on and David is surprisingly likeable and lively, it's really refreshing to see that there's never a love triangle so to speak of other than the occasional tiddy. I'm also blessed living in my third world shithole in that the English scans have apparently ceased but the Italian scans keep up with it. It also helps that the original has plenty of Italian to keep with the whole Renaissance theme.
>3) Shitei Bouryoku Shoujo Shiomi-chan
This one actually has ended but it's a quirky little series about a Japanese mobster having to double as a high school delinquent girl to avoid getting caught by his enemies in a gang war, it's a bit clichè but the tongue-in-cheek kind that doesn't shy away from pointing that out. There's also some quality traps to those who're into that sort of thing.

The reality is that for someone like the average otaku nip farming is just a dangerous shitty job where your just as likely to step on a rusty nail and drive an hour to the nearest hospital for a tetanus shot (personal experience) as you are to get the common cold. Farming has the same financial, safety, and mental weight that any other labor job has.
Rural life can be decent and better than more urban life in some ways, but this Agrarian Utopia that these "Slow-Life" manga and disenfranchised nips believe in, does not exist.
