I enjoyed the first episode of this, it was well-made and introduced the characters and premise with good pacing and tension. I don't know how they plan to escape with all of the kids when its so much harder to hide a large group than a small one (especially when the small one is more intelligent/athletic), but I look forward to finding out.

About to watch the first episode tbh pretty excited to see some of this animated as I binge read the first 100 chapters in a day or so a few months ago.

I want to see how they handle this being of immeasurable power and just how truly fucked everyone is despite them not having the slightest idea whatsoever.

Manga reader here.

It was kind of interesting at first, but then it starts to get boring and dragged out.

Also, how the author plans to develop the characters is pretty predictable :

In the anime Emma and Norman decide to use the woods for their escape route because the gate is only opened when a kid needs to be shipped out. So is Grace Field House a self-sustainable operation for 38 kids and two adults? What do they do with all of their trash, or how do they get food and supplies in? As far as I know, there hasn't been an actual farm shown or anything, so there must be some kinds of shipments coming from outside. Hopefully this will be brought up, I would have thought maybe Norman or Ray would have made a remark about it. Maybe it's covered in the manga, idk.

Not so much a trope as it is abject reality. Japan is nice enough to educate its young about things like this through stories - course it's all symbolism not like creatures like vampires exist - but old people infuse their bodies with the blood of the young and create wars to steal their organs so they can live longer lives….

so to do aliens symbolicalaly represent through probing - a raped human - sedated as the elites use us as sex dolls.

this is the real world - and it's even how the elites themselves talk about it - they just talk in symbolism so that you don't catch on.

The retarded author obviously knows very little about biology, and yet he decided to go down this path.

The demons are organisms that relied on horizontal gene-transfer to evolve

This makes no sense, since complex life-forms cannot just alter their own biology instantaneously

Worst part is, they somehow need to continuously consume humans in order to maintain their human sentience and intelligence

That's not how horizontal gene transfers work. The microbes that took genes from other organisms keep those genes until they die.

They don't just shit it out later

I usually don't fall for the cheap excuses anime uses to make you feel bad for a bad guy, but somehow I feel a little bad for Krone.

She wasn't the brightest person, but she had some clear goals of her own, and was just trying to achieve them.

 No.90280

>>90260

I read MiA for the fascination with the enviroment and the beasts. But instead of focusing on the exploration and the discovery of creepy artifacts, the story is character driven. Which can be nasty, but stay pretty shallow.

It's a pity when a writer is not aware of its strength and weaknesses.

I don't even care about Riku's plot anymore. I just want to know where Reg came from, and only because it's tied to the setting's lore.

Kind of like this show, actually. I'm more eager to know how the outside world works than the MC's stupid relationships. Well, to be fair I also like plots of "cat and mouse chase".

 No.91356

I'm not a huge fan of where the story goes, but I can see why it was necessary. This combo doesn't have the skill of the Death Note duo to keep it thrilling and exciting the entire way through. Even though the anime sped up some of the more tedious aspects of the cat and mouse mindgames, it gets a little boring really quick.

 No.91373

That wall run was bullshit, wasn't it? How would that rope help him direct his inertia upwards? He didn't even swing on it, just held it in his hands while running towards the wall and then straight up.

Couldn't they just make him swing on a rope like a normal human being?

I guess the only option now is to take the demons head on.

>>91373

It was really disappointing. I was always confused as to how they would get over with just a rope considering the thing is flat all around. Then I saw him tying it to the high part of a tree and thought "Oh, it's actually longer than I thought and the plan is to throw it and hook a looped end on a sturdy tree on the other side." In retrospect, he wouldn't need to tie it to a tree on his side of the wall to do that.

 No.91515

>>91377

That makes no fucking sense. The rope would have to be tensed and the movement would need to be circular. The kid just tied the rope behind him, ran straight into the wall and then UP

This anime is only getting worse. They pull shit out of their asses again and again with no build up or anything, i.e.:

more like asspulls

 No.93318

>>93311

The whole show was telling you over and over these kids are geniuses. You can't seriously act surprised or think it's asspulling if they come up with genius plans to get out of a situation.

 No.93343

>>93311

Them doing bullshit we're not aware of isn't the real asspull. The real asspull is that they somehow kept about two dozen children under the age of six from tattling to mommy about the big master plan. There's also them managing to store enough supplies for everyone without Mom noticing, all the children being apparent perfect actors not arousing an ounce of suspicion from Mom despite the geniuses often failing to do so themselves, and the show explicitly states that Mom was keeping a close eye on Emma yet Emma was able to organize all this by giving order to the kids while acting depressed. That one kid who got left behind is the exception to the rule of the retardation of their plan. Ray was right, but the mangaka, or whoever is writing the show if it's different enough from the manga, wanted everything to go 95% of the way according to Emma's unrealistic ideals. Also, Norman is probably alive considering his death wasn't shown and he was taken to another room when everyone else is just killed in the gate tunnel.

>>93318

The older kids are geniuses, not everyone. In fact, some of them are even outright stupid.

 No.93358

>>93343

Yeah. The older kids. That do everything and bring everyone together. It's not the younger kids that are putting the plans in motion. It's the genius older kids.

 No.93360

>>93358

>It's not the younger kids that are putting the plans in motion.

Except it is. Emma is just giving orders, Ray is uninvolved until the last minute, and it was all Norman's plan. All the foot work is being done by the one's who aren't so bright, like the pair of retards that decided they needed to get into Mom's sekret room.

 No.93381

>>93360

Norman and Emma still had to be the ones to set everything in motion and train the kids in secret to do everything.

 No.93395

>>93381

I'm not sure you understand the issue here. Are you just going to keep repeating "the older kids are masterminds so fuck the logic of dealing with over 30 other kids and a watchful warden that is highly trusted by the kids"?

At least the show slightly acknowledges the reality of the situation by having a single one of the little tards actually act their age and stick with mommy when the house is burning down.

 No.93399

>>93395

You seem to be stubbornly of the mindset of this situation being too implausible when really it's just a group of kids taking advantage of the adult who's too distracted to notice what's right under her nose when she's too focused on targets elsewhere. How you can't grasp that simple logic or even just the fact the older kids are smart enough to concoct this plan is beyond me. If you need even more detail then just read the manga.

>when she's too focused on targets elsewhere.

It wasn't shown in the show so it could be either, but assuming she didn't cut off Ray's whole ear too, I'd bet on her simply being pressed for time and not having the luxury of doing it carefully.

If she didn't, her tracker could give her away. Ray had to have had the tracker disabler because he was with all the other kids and had to make sure their trackers didn't give them away. She had little time and had to head straight for the group without giving away the direction the group went.

 No.94670

>>94666

The manga is actually very far ahead of the anime, there's more than enough material for a second season. The problem is that it's a major shift from the first arc, so they actually had to pad things out a little to make a full cour (stuff like Krone's doll) because they didn't want to get into any of that yet.

 No.94673

Once again they pull shit out of their asses instead of showing the kids training all that stuff. Why tell the story through recaps all the time? They give culmination and then the build up, that's not how it fucking works.

And then they traversed the moat on thin strips of cloth. I doubt they could hide away that much silk or that they had any to begin with.

For a show about smart kids it's pretty fucking dumb.
