Once again they pull shit out of their asses instead of showing the kids training all that stuff. Why tell the story through recaps all the time? They give culmination and then the build up, that's not how it fucking works.
And then they traversed the moat on thin strips of cloth. I doubt they could hide away that much silk or that they had any to begin with.
For a show about smart kids it's pretty fucking dumb.

Agree with this entirely, I'd have loved a The Great Escape sequence with them doing all that preparing and practising, but instead it just comes off as a cheap and annoying asspull.
