I was never a fan of bakabt that was because they choose their releases based on encoding quality rather then translation quality in addition to them not having licensed anime. But if you are comparing it to nyaa or TT or any other public English anime tracker there is a huge difference between the 2 sites other then "5 more seeders" good luck being able find anything with any seeds at all that's more then a couple years old. Bakabts flaws has nothing to do with them becoming a private tracker it had all those problems as public site.

There's more to the story than just that though, I read something about a bunch of mods taking the authority over the entire site without the permission of the site owner and the guy can't get his site back.

Not a bad idea since most fansubbers used to care about encoding quality. It's embarrassing how some people think a 1080p file with a bitrate of 1 mpbs is acceptable.
