This is true for a large majority of works. Though there are anime I've enjoyed more than the manga like Kiniro Mosaic where I felt the character being animated made them cuter or the anime delivered the jokes better. Soundtracks can also influence this as well if they really fit or sound good. There's also things like One Punch Man where the web comic is completely inferior to the manga and anime art wise. I feel the same for Comic Girls where the anime has a cuter art style than the manga.
