FUCK
I knew I had seen this design before in a tokusatsu. Well, I wasn't 100% sure, I only thought "this reminds me of an old 'giant hero' I used to watch, but don't remember the name", I literally searched through a shitton of tags related to the genre just to find the one I was looking for. Guess what the name of it was.
Gridman
I feel like an idiot. The anime is an adaptation of an old toku series, and I would have found this out instantly if I researched the anime itself first. Yeah, the first episode was underwhelming, but now my interest piked again. I might look up a few episodes of the old series.
From wikipedia, just to give you guys some context:
>Gridman the Hyper Agent, or known as Denkou Choujin Gridman (電光超人グリッドマン Denkō Chōjin Guriddoman, lit. Lightning Superman Gridman) in Japan, is a 1993-1994 Japanese tokusatsu "Giant Hero" series created by Tsuburaya Productions (the producers of Ultraman) and would be Tsuburaya's last non-Ultra superhero production before Bio Planet WoO.[1] It was the inspiration and source material for DiC Entertainment's Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad.
>Shot on live video, Gridman was the first series by Tsuburaya Productions to utilize D-2 digital video for its special effects scenes, allowing for smoother slow-motion photography. Tsuburaya, having switched to digital techniques since then, would continue to use D-2 for all future productions.
>The series was released in the United States with subtitles in English on the television network TOKU on December 18, 2017.[2] Months later, the series begins to be available on its streaming service and on its Amazon Prime channel.
No.60492
>>60490
Also, just to be clear on something. I was first exposed to the american adaptation "Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad", which only made things worse since I tried looking for "giant hero tokusatsu internet", and of course the "internet" tag doesn't really returns anything of value.

But if you have an artist, you know what kind of audience you want and all, you'd make sure to check what the artist is drawing. It's hard to suspend my disbelief to think that they were so naive to see these girls' very short skirts showing those gorgeous thighs and think "that's wholesome". They KNEW what they were getting into, or the must be the most pure and ignorant people in the world. Even worse after the interview where the artist said that he likes asses and titties.

On a widespread cultural level there's an unspoken agreement that you can make fan art and even sell it and the company will just look the other way. Even so, why now? It would be more understandable if LL said no to lewd stuff since the very beginning, but after two series and several Colliers with lewd shit from their girls, it seems a bit pointless.
I read that Triggered's partner backed off a bit from the no lewd shit statement, so doujin material is allowed but not if it's for commercial purposes. Dunno if it means that you can sell it at Comiket only, but not online or at stores.
There are bad signs here and there, but I want to stay positive and believe that this situation will revert more or less once the fucking Olympic games are over. If they air a Moetan-tier series after that goddamn event some months later or so, then they were really toning it down to avoid trouble with normalfags. At the same time, I'm not too confident due to more foreign presence in series, both in staff and characters (look at these wacky tourists!), and companies could lose more integrity the more money they show in their faces. I hope it doesn't happen .

I'm starting to think Hibiki didn't really lose his memories. But that he's a newly created person. People have memories of knowing him, but only because those were created to insert him in the setting. Notice how no one mentions "this is just like you Hibiki, you used to do this kind of stuff" or something of the sort. Seems like both Gridman and Akexis are outsiders, considering Akane didn't knew about them, and maybe Hibiki is as well.
