Anime original written by Kotaro Uchikoshi.
>October, 2018. Girls who live in a provincial city perform a certain ritual. The girls are in the "Crystal Radio Club." It is an interest circle that Asuka Tsuchimiya, a girl known for her cheerfulness, started with friends in her high school. That ritual was considered just an urban legend. However, with several conditions coincidentally falling into place, it stops being fun and games…

when I read about that occult radio thingy I was kinda hoping it would turn out like pic related (sauce is fuan no tane btw), but then I guess you can't do stuff like that with anime smartphone games.
It was fun though. The main girl with her chikuwa gag was a bit grating on my nerves though

shame they completely reset the story by making the fiancee some controlling evil patriarchy stereotype and later monster of the week. would've been interesting seeing the fallout for nana disappearing from their home universe or even the fallout for nana torching their wedding in the alternate universe. surely there will be horrible cyberbullying consequences for ruining a celebrity's marriage with all those fangirls outside. there's also the possibility that the fiancee was possessed by the alternate universe boogymen and he was completely normal before the universe merge.

it's a really strange dimension this time
a "western" setting but with modern conveniences like cars and smartphones. on the other hand, the whole point of a western was the struggle of keeping the law on the frontier where the law doesn't reach, but in this setting we'd have law on demand: phones to call for help and cars to transport the police.
judgelet is prime contender to be baddie of the arc although it's not really clear what the judgelet does other than declare who won the duel.
No.64249
>>64233
Let's talk about the legal system of this universe shall we. Of course, in our own universe, civil disputes are resolved by taking the matter to court and having a judge (or arbitrator if it is a contractual dispute and the contract allows for it) decide on the balance of probabilities who has the best case and what loss they have suffered because of it.
Eg, if you borrow some money from me and don't pay it back when we agreed, then I can start a civil case against you and (assuming there is enough evidence on the balance of probabilities regarding the terms of the loan) the judge will require you to pay me back the loan, plus any damages I've suffered by not having it on hand (usually interest).
In this universe, it appears that civil disputes are resolved by means of a duel. The judges are presumably responsible for the rules of the duel, but their primary function seems to be to attract television viewers. In the above example, this would mean that I would have to challenge you to a duel in order to get you to pay back my loan which would disincentivise me to commence proceedings. Of course, if I did commence proceedings, you might be highly incentivised to pay back the loan without requiring the duel take place because there's a chance you'd die.
This is obviously stupid because there's no balance of probabilities test: the repayment is contingent on my skill with a revolver rather than my contractual security or your ability to pay the debt. The real question is regarding the televising thing. Why do people tune in to watch duels all the time? How can a judge influence the ratings of one duel over another?
Additionally, doesn't the likely death of one or both parties to the legal proceedings render it an ineffective form of problem solving? Eg, if I shot you, I wouldn't get my loan repaid because you're dead.
No.64279
>>64249
if anything it discourages people from making big commitments because no one wants to die over a dollar. it would also be interesting if they could hire a champion to fight for them if there's a large sum at stake.
also I assume there are other ways to settle the duels than a gunfight, it's that particular judgelet that thinks morbidity = popularity.

> the repayment is contingent on my skill with a revolver rather than my contractual security
Meaning everyone has an incentive to be at least proficient with a gun.
>How can a judge influence the ratings of one duel over anothe
They could have made this the central point of this episode. A judge doesn't need to be a good arbiter, instead she just has to know when a duel would apply to a certain case or not. Considering she has a stake in a duel's viewership, it makes sense she would prefer duels over important matters, like a land dispute. Worse yet, a crook judge might instigate a problem from behind the curtains to create a demand for a duel.

This is just Sony trying to create a new trend amongst anime hipsters to start buying Walkman's, right?
No.64335
Maybe, but a simpler explanation is that they sponsored it and wanted to make sure their brand would be featured prominently. To be hip and cool with the kids.

>if anything it discourages people from making big commitments because no one wants to die over a dollar
The corollary is that it discourages people from making the same commitment for a serious offence. Civil law exists for a reason, it is far more important than criminal law as without it, torts and contracts can't exist and society can't really function.
>it would also be interesting if they could hire a champion to fight for them if there's a large sum at stake
This would be a huge disincentive to ever challenge a corporation or rich person, as they would have the best champions. Even without that, it would mean that rich people couldn't possibly suffer in a duel and therefore would be incentivised to start duels over trivial things which the other side would immediately have to concede as they would be unlikely to be able to defeat the champions.
To stretch this to a logical extreme, a rich person could hire the best duelist in the world and then say that someone owed him $10billion and that guy would have no choice but to give him $10 billion or else be killed. Even if the other person was rich, if they are less rich than the guy with the better duelist, the richer man can just keep having duels until the second guy is bankrupt.
I'd say that the champion system makes no sense, but I don't know how corporations would work in this system without it.
>>64304
>Meaning everyone has an incentive to be at least proficient with a gun.
I imagine they'd teach it in school. That said, they teach fuckall law in school today so maybe not.
>Considering she has a stake in a duel's viewership, it makes sense she would prefer duels over important matters,
Or duels between family members. Anything to spice it up. But considering that the sheriff stated that all civil disputes are resolved with duels, it seems likely that the ones that don't draw viewers are still resolved the same way, just with less fanfare.
