A comedy series about a skeleton working in a bookstore with all sorts of strange masked coworkers and his encounters with mostly ugly foreign nerds and fujoshits who want to buy BL manga from his store
I loved how it made fun of western "otaku" and yaoi fangirls

So author named the MC after himself. I supposed it's safe to assume it's mostly the author venting his opinions on western otaku then. Well, even if he hadn't named MC Honda, it would be stll safe to assume that anyway.

カミブクロ - Kamibukuro (Paperbag)
ペストマスク - Pest(doctor)mask
アーマー - Armor
ラビットヘッド - Rabbit Head
オキツネ - Okitsune (Fox)
コオモテ - Ko Omote (that creepy smiling Noh theatre mask)
ケンドウ - Kendo (the faceprotector used in Kendo)
フルフェイス - Fullface(mask)

ガスマスク - Gasmask

Nothing. His jaw falls off at one point, so I guess it's just for gags and easy character recognition. There's not any story, I think it's kind of like a 4koma in anime flash animation format. The episodes are even half length.

Sentences tend to be around the same topic, so vocabulary repeats often, it's set in the modern world, minimizing specialized vocab, and the sentences tend to be on the easier side.

For all the so called troubles they face, wageslaving doesn't seem so bad in nipland. The worst part prtobably is working after hours (unpaid, I'm assuming), but otherwise, it's a matter of stepping on eggshells so as not to offend people by being impolite to them.
Also, the 4th wall break where they talk about their own serialization is pretty funny too.

It did come up in the latest episode like >>70051 said, but speaking for myself, I just like to wander the aisles and look for things that seem appealing. Often I'll go in with no real idea what I'm looking for, and leave with a new book or two I didn't even know existed. It's the tactility of the experience that I prefer over just browsing Amazon pages, and why I prefer physical books over ebooks. It's the same way that I have fondness of browsing the racks at Blockbuster and would like to be able to do that again, even if Netflix is easier and more convenient.
There's also a social component to it, going to the store with a friend and talking about what we find, or interacting with the staff and finding out what they'd recommend. Couple these reasons with the ease of previewing books over movies, and I think that's why bookstores are still alive and kicking while Blockbuster and all other video chains went out of business.

There was this toy store that sold old merchandise that was displaced from the better stores from the same chain. Even after several years since they had been sold in their original run, they had TMNT toys, Todd McFarlane figures, videogames (grandma got me RE2 for N64 there for 10 bucks) and horror movie figures. Very often, I'd see these people walking the aisles. Young adults looking for Primal Rage toys or the Candyman figure, and they talked quite a lot about the movies or certain episodes, they were sometimes goths or metalheads, they seemed like chill people but I was too shy to talk to them, and English isn't my native language so I was less than confident to speak to them.
The toy store had some nice treasures and some nice customers, I miss it. You just can't have the same experience nowadays by shopping online. Haven't met or seen a lot of this kind of chill people recently either, it's more a mix of children, NURD CULTURE people or young adults/actual adults desperately clinging to nostalgia; the old goths/metalheads seemed more genuine somehow I can't explain it. I'm also aware that I'd look like a fucking freak if I tried to start a conversation with someone now.

My local friendly hobby store used to be so good. It was this small place that sold card games, miniatures, tabletop RPG books etc. The owner was this nice dude who hosted cardgame tournaments every weekend, used to talk to you about anything hobby related in depth. He eventually sold the store, I never knew the reason, the place turned so sterile it closed a few years after. It was walking distance from my home even. The perfect store, now it's gone.

Chain bookstores are alright and all, but used bookstores are great for maximum comfiness. You can get a bunch of books for cheap and discover a lot of older titles you won't find in regular bookstores. From my experience, the proprietors are friendly and really care about reading, and they're generally happy to strike up a conversation about the books they're into or what they've just gotten in. And of course, since it's a used bookstore, you can trade in the books you don't want anymore for credit. The one downside is that things can be disorganized sometimes due to a lack of staff, so it might be hard to find books by a particular author. But still, I love a good used bookstore. Check and see if there are any in your area, it's easy to get lost and spend an afternoon there.
I also feel you on hobby shops. We've got a nice one in the area, sells comics, board/card games, Warhammer and other miniatures, models/kits, books, manga, all kinds of shit. And there's tourneys of all kinds of stuff every week too. I know that one day the owner will sell it to someone else or close it entirely, but I hope that it ends up in good hands. It would be a real shame to see it go.
