Since Japan is currently experiencing a rapidly aging population, are there any interesting anime / mango that features an aging protagonist? I think i've seen one that seemed interesting about a Robo-granpa beating up thugs (all in glorious CG) vs. a young super-powered baddie, but alas i forgot the title of the show.
While most of us are still young, i personally think it's interesting (narrative-wise) to have a character that is powerful but handicapped by old age

The herbivore male actually arose from Japan's extremely demanding work/business culture, due to the constant lack of an adult male role model in the household during the child's formative years. In girls this turns them into unironic feminists and whores.

I have always really liked old characters for some reason. The idea of a manga or anime about getting or being old sounds pretty interesting. It's not something that has been explored all that much.

And funnily enough, their economy just keeps going to shit no matter what and I'm pretty sure that Japan still has the most indebted government in the world (last time I checked, it was over two times larger than their GDP). I guess that's where you end up when you're too greedy and materialistic, treat your population like cattle and completely ignore the law of diminishing returns.
The whole concern about birthrates is just another extension of that, because Japan is so ridiculously overpopulated that even if their population drops by 90%, they will still have a massive amount of people considering how small the country is. The government is only worried that they won't have as many tax-paying slaves that they can work to death later on. Having a lower population could improve their quality of life, but the government doesn't care about that, they only care about money. Really, having too many people around just reduces the value (and quality) of life overall. Every country on the planet is overpopulated. Possibly even Iceland and Greenland since I think their entire population lives in just a couple of cities. Overpopulation was already an issue in Ancient Greece, so right now things are worse than we can even understand. The problem tends to fix itself if there is no interference. Eventually their society will have to change in order to adapt to the higher value of human life, and then people will have children again. Having children in a shitty society is nigger behavior.
If you're Japanese and do what society expect of you, your reward will be a lifetime of wasted effort. I think the most comfortable position that you can have in life over there is close to the bottom of the barrel. Being a NEET, or having a comfy job with low expectations like being a janitor or whatever. Still more than enough money if you're efficient. It's what I do over here already, so it should work over there as well.>)

>The whole concern about birthrates is just another extension of that, because Japan is so ridiculously overpopulated that even if their population drops by 90%, they will still have a massive amount of people considering how small the country is.
It's only natural that the population growth would stagnate (or decline in Japan's case) when there's no need for more growth in the area. Forced / artificial growth is bad for the country since it will fuck up the economy even further in the long run.
>Every country on the planet is overpopulated.
>Overpopulation was already an issue in Ancient Greece, so right now things are worse than we can even understand.
Unfortunately i have to take issue in this statement. The problem isn't overpopulation, it's population distribution. More people have lived in cities today than in the past, y'know places where living standards are in the crapper for most people but unfortunately is where most of the money flows through in the country. Also people have been fed better now than ever before, obesity rates are rising as of now. The ones you could see starving are niggers in the Darkest Continent, which is kinda sad to see that they're being used by (((NGOs))) as a base for (((charity))).

This one is very comfy. It even has a live action series. Although the main character does not look like the manga version at all, the live action version captures the spirit of the source material very nicely. I especially like how most, if not all, the restaurants MC visits in both are all real places. It's basically a collection of slightly dramatised restaurant and shop reviews.
