True enough. Toei really took the lazy route for what would be one of their most profitable franchises since Dragon Ball. And they still do. The lazy outsourcing fuckers. Its only getting worse now with them giving more attention to DB as of late after they realized DBS garbage is a hit with spics and power-level burgers. Manga is always the patrician choice, especially in this mediocre day and age of shortcuts and budget management with only profit in mind.
No.47069
This is one of the most epic moments of One Pice, in the manga I did not feel so much the weight of the situation, but in the anime you feel quite especially for the background music they used. It’s simply spectacular.

Oda said its because Luffy is too childish and "pure" to understand romance/hotness and then tries to claim that has always been a character trait from the start. Pure my fucking ass. That may have been the deal after Skypiea, but before that characterizations for certain characters could be far different from their current incarnations, like Sanji not being afraid to shoot Robin in the past or Luffy calling Alvida a beauty and being attracted to Nami like the rest of the gang. But I can live with that shit. What bugs me more though is the Sunny, post-TS Franky and the Franky Shogun feeling more like corny attempts at merchandising.

I don't mind objectification and fanservice, but it feels like that's all Robin has to offer after the timeskip and Oda's really gone overboard with Nami to the point of being on the same level as Fairy Tail fanservice of sacrificing character for the sake of his editors and profits.

So Minks can into bestiality? So what happens if she fucks a reindeer? Will the child be a Mink? A talking reindeer that can stand on two legs? Will said child be able to mate with humans? Objectification is a word and there's nothing wrong with objectifying the female form. In fact make them titties bigger. Oda's problem is that not only do most of his females look alike but all their breasts are the same size. Make some massive D-cups once in a while Oda.

Bumping this. I've recently started One Piece for the first time and have a couple of questions. I'm currently just finished Alabasta Arc, Luffy and co. are in Jaya right now.
1. I'm enjoying the pic related translation of the manga. The only downside is the resolution isn't even close to Viz quality. Does this improve with later scanlation groups? I'm never reading that Viz shit.
2. I read spoilers like a retard in the wiki about Ace's death in the Marineford arc and it's really activated my ADHD. I'm impatient to get to that arc even though I like what I'm reading. How good are the intermediate arcs between Alabasta and Marineford?
No.64256
Also I've asked on 4/a/ at the time but since they introduced Chopper I've hated his character. It's a combination of the furry aspect in his human form, the fact he's a kid, his annoying voice the voice actress does for him in the anime, and generally I feel like he's forced into everything.
Did anyone else feel that way? Does he get better? I've liked every character, even side characters, except Chopper.

I have a question for the thread. I know the tv anime is shit, and I love the manga, but how do the movies compare? I feel like it has to be better than the tv one because it's main problems, as far as I can tell, are dirt cheap budgets and intra-episode filler. Are the movies any better?
No.91766
>>91761
I watched the Hosoda one, it was decent. The problem with movies of these kind of long-running shounen series is that they're generally cash-ins based really loosely on whatever current arc was running, just to get people in theaters. The DBZ movies for example were terrible about this and usually ended up being shoddily paced messes. You can't fit a good setting, pack of new, interesting characters for the 'canon' group to interact with, the 'canon' group interacting with each other, and fights all into a usually sub-1-hour package. Also, because they're usually based on some established chronological part of the manga, they're always going to feel like filler on some level because there's almost never going to be tie-in within the canon sequence of events.
It's at least true movies of this kind will usually have better production values than the main series, but not so much as you might think, or on the same level as some of the high points you see in anime movies in general. I'd say give a few a try and see, it's probably gonna be hit-or-miss though.
