It's hard to do well, so post anime that are actually funny - shows like Binbougami, Excel Saga, Hanada Shounen Shi, and Cromartie HS.

NHK holds a special place in my heart for not only being funny, but doing so without doing the same stupid jokes about liking girls panties or having the MC be a complete retard because
"people being dumb" is funny. Konosuba is pretty good too, though it falls into a lot of the same trappings as other shitty comedy.

"Funny" is subjective. People seem to think Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is the funniest shit, but I didn't even manage to watch all the episodes because 80% of it is so boring to me.
Seconding Nozaki-kun though. I dunno if Love Lab is funny or just fun, but might as well throw that here too.
No.21999
Handa-Kun is pretty fucking funny in my opinion, though I don't think anyone ever talks about it. The most popular kid in school thinks he's being viciously bullied and is hated by everyone.

Nichijou is an extreme example since it's renowned for being niche humour. I absolutely loved it, but know a lot of people for whom that brand of humour just didn't hit.

Gin no Saiji/Silver Spoon? I liked that one a lot, it was incredibly real. If any anon has ever wondered what life is like in the country, that show is a great depiction of it.

Azumanga Daioh. It excels at four different things—slapstick, surreal, character, and overly-long-pause gags. I'm going to refrain from watching the final episode for quite some time.

The only anime I recall actually making me laugh out loud were Nichibros, Sakamoto desu ga? and Prison School. Nichijou is one of the unfunniest anime I have ever seen and the more I see it get praised, the more I feel people pretend they like it to seem contrarian. I refuse to believe that "xd so randumz" the show can be considered the epitome of comedy by anyone, regardless of how braindead they are.
No.32648

You don't at least think that this scene >>31765 has good comedic timing and is a cut above random xD-type humour? It's possible that that's not representative of the average quality of Nichijou, but I was sold on it just from that clip.
No.32649

>Excel Saga
I gave up on that one after the ayylium episode, it was ok.
No.32654
>>32641
It's not so much the xD-so-randumb humour that Nichijou suffers from but the slow comedic timing due to an emphasis on quality animation like in >>32641 that makes it uninteresting to people who prefer more punchy jokes like in Nichibros. Nichijou takes so long to wind up that the delivery feels so lukewarm in the end.
No.32656

You didn't watch Cromartie High School?
No.32687

I too think Nichijou is funny. I don't really know how to explain this but I like that the humor often is kinda positive. Shows like reddit and morty, family goy and whatever else "fun shows" US (((media))) spits out usually have this bitter and corrosive humor that's good for a shrill laugh but doesn't put you in a good mood.

Oh god, I have to post this here, otherwise I'm gonna spam the manga rec thread.
Fire punch delivers some pretty good action scenes, and right when you're thinking "well shit I might actually take this manga seriously now, I'm getting invested" it throws one of these in your direction

Man, Ghost Stories is too good. It's a shame that there aren't more gag dubs being made. With how much anime goes undubbed, you'd figure that a studio could grab up something cheap every season and roll with it.
Adding to the list, Neo Yokio. Both in the so bad it's good sense and in the actually funny sense.
No.33302

I forgot to mention that I did enjoy the show as a slice of life show, just not as a comedy show. The parts with the professor and Sakomoto were really comfy to watch.
>>32648
It's enjoyable if you watch one of these shorts at a single time but if you watch an entire 24-minut episode that is just that kind of wacky stuff repeated over and over, it starts to become boring. Also, the parts with the professor, the robot girl and the cat are 10 times better than the ones with the high school girls which I thought were outright annoying most of the time.
>>32654
I thought the animation was great but comedy is one of the few genres where visuals are the least important aspect of the show. Just because it looks good doesn't make it funny.
>>32656
I did, it's a great show but I also didn't think it wasn't that funny. I thought Angel Densetsu, a 2-episode OVA that's also about delinquents was a bit funnier.
