After KareKano and before the rebuild films, he mostly worked on live-action stuff and he still does. I believe he feels resentment towards the general anime fan and the industry as a whole because of the way he and his works have been treated over the years. It must be tough for a guy who has always been a depressed sperg to get so much slack over something you genuinely tried to make good. So you didn't get it after all. The ending was literally the opposite of what you just described. It was about how even though the people around Shinji wanted him to pilot the Eva, he didn't have to, he could shape any future for himself which he desired if he worked hard enough. He didn't have to live his life according to what the people around him expected of him nor did he have to succumb to escapism because he could not reach their expectations. Consider the context behind this; this is a series made in a country where people either work themselves to death to make their family proud or lock themselves up in their parents' basement to never return to society because they could not deal with the pressure that it put upon them. You don't have to read a fucking thesis to get this, all you have to do is not be retarded, which might be a bit difficult for you considering that you were born retarded.

The movie acts out the Human Instrumentality Project, which is supposed to merge all human souls into one being so no one ever has to experience pain ever again. This is spoonfed to the viewer by Misato at the start of the fucking film, too bad you were born both deaf and blind.
In the end, Shinji chooses to end Human Instrumentality because while suffering cannot exist when all souls are intertwined, it is impossible to exist as an individual without emotions and this too is a form of escapism. In the same way that you can avoid feelings negative emotions by watching anime, you also are unable to actually move forward in reality while doing so and you are stuck watching life pass by you. This too, is almost literally spoonfed to the viewer, through the dialogue Shinji has with his mother and by the movie showing live-action segments which is meant to convey that what you are watching is not real, it's just an anime.
Anyway, just go back to watching your normalnigger baby shows like Attack on Titan where you can watch big-breasted retards make kawaii orgasm noises while slamming swords into poorly-drawn monsters. Something like that is more your speed. Leave this thread for the adults to enjoy.

Khara and the Rebuild films were announced as an opportunity to make Evangelion closer to Anno's pre-meltdown idea of NGE without the limits of small budgets and 90s technologies. The first film is actually pretty close to this idea. After that it gets derailed pretty hard by the second film getting big into the commercial bullshit and blowing its load on the third impact (fourth if it's a continuation from EoE) too soon, leaving 3.0 to pick up the wreckage. The entire thing stinks of production troubles.
