Its not impossible. Tena already makes a cloth backed, hook and loop tabbed, stretchy sided diaper, its just very clinical/medical looking and doesn't hold a ton.
I think the problem is that demand hasnt been demonstrated yet as people want more absobency, which is better suited for plastic backed, solid sided diapers to hold the weight.
