I brought this up in the depends thread, but I think it deserves it's own.

Almost all of us have tried multiple brands of diapers, and the vast majority of us know how uncomfortable and leak prone diapers like Depends, Tena, and other shelf brands are.

I have visited dozens of senior residence buildings across three states. All of their inpatients wear this shit. All of them leak onto their beds regularly, which means their $5 an hour fillipino caregivers need to wash their bed linens (whenever they get around to it, which is another story).

Do normies just not care to look into this? Do they just assume it's normal for diapers to leak 1/2 the time? For them to balloon up and be completely soggy and uncomfortable after a single wetting?

I just don't get it. I have bought zillions of normie diapers throughout the years just to get by. I have never once felt comfortable to just take a piss while I was lying down. They are poorly made - basically useless for their intended purpose (unless their intended purpose is to collect 75% of your urine)

Anyway, I doubt any journalist would ever care to expose how improperly incontinent old people are being diapered, or how poorly made store brand diapers are - but I think just speaks to how little anyone gives a shit about old people.

It's because in 99.9% of cases, their insurance(either private or Medicare/Medicaid) is paying and they will only approve the cheapest option, hence Depends or Tena. Also, Depends are probably easier to buy in bulk than Northshore or Abena because they have been using Depends for fucking ever and they don't care enough to try something different.

It's all about the money.

This. Also if the diapers didn't leak the senior residence buildings wouldn't have to invest in plastic pants, waterproof sheets (which are just as low quality and useless as the diapers they are providing), higher amounts of detergents to deal with the results of the leakage, they wouldn't have to buy new bed mats every now and then, they wouldn't have to hire more caregivers and pay taxes after employing them, less caregivers would have to pay taxes, they wouldn't have to change the diapers every 2-3 hours creating less rubbish, so they wouldn't have to pay extra for handling biohazard waste more frequently. They also want to push old people to feel like absolute shit at all times, because the worse they feel the shorter they want to live (eventually they might start to ask the doctors to give them higher amounts of meds to be able to slip away peacefully and with dignity), the shorter they live, the more their insurance and pension contributions the authorities could keep for themselves. After a lifetime of dedication to study to be qualified to work, hard work and contributions, dealing with the burden to raise a new generation, we are all going to be treated exactly like this, except the few of us coming from a well situated background. Make a difference, and be nice to the old folks.

>Do normies just not care to look into this?

it's this. why spend more money on old people, on something they already find distasteful ("something" being the handling of poop. most normies dont even clean their toilet bowls let alone stand even thinking about diapers for the incontinent)

because companies and caretakers don't give a shit.

I've worked in this field for years and the last seminar I attended was just a big ad for shitty diapers.

Its easy math in favor of higher margins and lobbying from big incontinence-companies.

thinner diapers = more changes = more diapers bought = more money spend.

Same goes for "cotton-feel" and "Air-wings".

they are cheaper to make cause no extra added foil-material on the sides (its just pressed wadding).

leaks = need more skin-protection = sell more skin-cream (and matress-protection that rip easily apart, and more producs against odor and more anti-bacterial washing powder)

Live fast die young.

Hopefully I die at 65 or before Parkinson's or Alzheimers sets in. That or I just join Robin Williams. I know he was depressed, but I totally get it, can't really say I wouldn't have done the same.

Just fucking sage it then and move on.

Where else would we talk about this specific point of view? ABDLs know adult diapers well, unlike 99% of normies who don't think about them at all, and so we better understand how old people are being abused by companies producing shit-tier diapers that leak constantly.

This is a general discussion board about all things diaper and ageplay related, not just porn for you to fap to

It's ultimately the diaper manufacturer's who are at fault mixed with more "active" seniors during the 90s who bitched about "humiliation" because they had huge balloon butts. Hence the "active"/thinner diaper craze that set in during the 2000's and by 2011 all maximum protection adult diapers vanished from store shelves, replaced by these pathetic pull ups that should only be sold to middle aged housewives and not 70 year old bed bound seniors. Hell, even non bed bound seniors deserve a better diaper, the kind they had in the 90s.

Many valid points have been made about how this just generates more money for almost every other industry tied to senios care: bedding, wipes, clothing and skin creams. What's amazing is that the diaper companies had noble intentions originally, but once they realized that thinner diapers=more diapers used, the genie was released from the bottle and, frankly, we will never get affordable diapers that handle senior incontinence off a store shelve. This is why HDIS has become huge. They are one of the few companies that actually carry decent brands, but charge as much as ABDL diapers for a csse of 48. Not many families or seniors homes are willing to shell out $110 for 48 diaoers considering the average home would go through that in a day or two max. Meanwhile, you can get these thin diapers, 48, for around $40, they're literally giving them away! But that's because they're literally dirt cheap to manufacture.

You'd think that AOC, or any crazy environmentally minded extremist would target these doaper companies because they're filling out landfills with even more diapers and now bedding and clothing, than ever before.

not just elderlies.

Think about teens and adults with incontinence or wheelchair-bound persons, too!

While elderlies and hospital-bound patients have it worse, because they can't get better diapers most of the time,

just imagine having to wear diapers in public that are totally crappy, where you don't know if they will hold.

I'm all for it, to expose this, and I've seen some german magazines talk about this,

but there are healthcare-regulations that turned incontinence-care into a nightmare for patients.

I've been working in a hospital for years now, did some outside-work at elderly-care and I must say it got worse!

Not exactly sure who is to blame, healthcare-companies or incontinence-suppliers, but laws here in germany forbid nurses to use foil-backed diapers.

There are some really stupid regulations at place.

Idiots. Everyone of them!

(still angry at how bad diapers become that turned from absorbend and safe into thin, leaking, smelling nightmares without landing-zones and shitty tapes!)

It is the diaper manufacture. They started making thin diapers the norm instead of the exception. Now everyone suffers. Japan seems to be the only country that had thin diapers from before the 90s(probably due to limited landfill space) so the thin diaper didn't become the only option. If you ever watch Japanese disposable diaper porn, yes 80% is thin diapers, but they still have some very admirable thick diapers over there. Again, I attribute this to their unique position on an island and how they already seemingly seperated thin diapers for the general population from the thick medical grade diapers for elder and hospital/incontinence use. Why couldn't the western world had followed in Japan's footsteps on this issue?

Who's trying to fetishize grannies? Not everyone likes the overly infantile designs on AB diapers, especially diaper lovers. Plus, you seem to be forgetting/ignoring the simple fact that thicker medical diapers used to be on the shelves for super cheap prices than nowadays. No one wants to see grandma in diapers, but you have to admit that they need diapers and the paper thin pull ups are literally elder abuse.
