Hello everyone.
8kun has been having technical issues for over two weeks now or even more, so I want some feedback if we should keep waiting for the problem to be fixed or to move on.
There is https://8chan.moe/abdl I'm not the BO there and it looks like the actual BO is not very active because there's more than week old spam hanging in the first page.
Alternatively, I made a bunker on 8san https://8san.org/abdl which is locked now.
8san is pretty recent and I don't know what to expect from the admins.
Spliting our small community further with a third chan would be bad, so if we move to another chan, I'll lock this one.
In short:
* We stay on 8kun and hope it gets fixed (keep in mind we still have the løl1 ban)
* Move to 8moe and new BO
* Move to 8san and hope the admins there aren't as cucked as 8kun's

I'll be sticking here, don't worry. Notice that I said "recommend", I can't force people to go anywhere. I'm simply offering an option since 8kun is going through some though shit now.
Even in the worst case scenario, like 8kun being completely empty, I would lock the board to preserve its content safe from bot spam and I'll keep logging every other day so the board won't be marked as abandoned and prone to be corrupted by someone.
Sooner or later the media files will return, but this interval is vital to keep a chan alive. People can wait for so long.

You can use wget or curl for this. 8moe requires the referer header in the request when downloading media, or else you'll download an html page saying error 404.

Mastadon and Matrix give rise to their own problems. It's probably not wise to have an enforced namefag system on a board like this due to attention whoring. That and the culture that would come of that would likely be much more scary as people have names (even fake names) to tie to actions. I also personally like the anonymous (in name) nature of chans as talking about this stuff anonymously makes me more comfortable with it.

I use moe sometimes, more so recently as kun shits itself, but it definitely has spam issues. A merge to moe would be the best solution in my eyes, assuming that's possible. I wouldnt mind hopping to 8san and seeing how it goes, but it's going to live and die by how popular it is and that's always a risk. Locking this one would be the only real option to push people there that I can see. Even if they have the same content bans it's an improvement if the tech improves and stops strangling the board. Seems like it's improving now though, so maybe we're in the clear for the time being?

I talked with a 8moe's admin some time ago.
It is possible to import content from 8kun, but since the media is broken, it would be pointless to do so.
Also, I'm not the BO there. I can create something like /abdl2/ and ask the admin to import from 8kun or we merge with /abdl/ after the other BO agrees with it and I leave everything in his hands afterwards.
Either way is no good until 8kun gets fixed.
I lurked on 8san and basically there's only /b/ there and it looks to be full of bots since most posts are incoherent baable, even for /b/ standards.
It's a pick your poison situation at the moment.

Well, 8san is dead.
8kun have its problems but at least is online. Seeing how easily 8san went down, I think it's better to have both 8moe and 8kun working side by side, in case one go down the other is there as shelter. I welcome our 8moe/abdl brothers and sisters.
People are talking about federated chans and I think that's the way to go in the future. For the moment what we have now is enough, but it's good to be preparing for the inevitable.
