god, I hate cottonfeel-diapers with all my guts!
They dissolve, smell and are uncomfy and leave lints everywhere.
Who ever decided to change adult-diapers into this cloth-backed shit, should be kicked in the balls or ovaries repeatedly!

I mean, I dont see the big deal. You can get ones that are plastic backed. And the cloth ones are much more discrete. If thats not your thing, dont buy them.

I too dislike the cloth backed ones but, devil's advocate, they're more breathable, discrete, and I believe 'somewhat' more degradable, being better for the environment.
That said, I like my plastic backed, I love the crinkle.

>'somewhat' more degradable, being better for the environment.
that may well be true, but how biodegradable something is really doesnt make any difference in a landfill. Even things that are very biodegradable (think natural foods, paper, plant matter, etc) do not break down at any serious speed. There is basically zero oxygen in landfills, so everything breaks down anaerobically, which means it breaks down very, very slowly. If you are worried about landfill usage in particular, it is almost infinitely more useful to reduce the amount of paper and yard waste you produce, as these are some of the largest components of landfills by volume/weight.

I really doubt they are more breathable.
Just press them against your lips and try to press air through and you'll see they aren't really breathable.
Its just lies the advertisments tell you
and the manufacturers scamming uninformed people to buy less diapers for more money.

that's not really what breathable means in this context, it means that it lets water vapor (sweat) pass through but not water (urine).

Speaking of this breathable thing. I'm having issues with rashes and heat bump on my hips with plastic backed diapers. I have terrible night sweating.
Curious if changing to cloth backed or just straight cloth diapers would help keep me from breaking out.

I am getting rashes and heat-buildup with cloth-backed diapers.
No matter what brand of CF I try, its allways a desaster.

I mean, depends on your personal needs. I'm very satisfied with my northshore air supremes. Thick and enjoyable, and I find them much more comfortable heat/sweat wise.

Apart from the purported "breathable" benefits, I find cloth-backed rather appealing. Plastic-backed has its own allure of course, and I think I'd probably prefer to cycle between the two, but I haven't had any issues with leaking or lint as of yet. The cotton feeling is rather comfortable too, almost juvenile in a way. I can see how it can be considered sub-par, though. That being said, I'm guessing that the hate arises more from cloth-backed displacing previously plastic-backed products, rather than any ill virtue of the style itself.

Not just cotton-feel, but also diapers are getting thinner and thinner.
Do you think the next generation of DLs will use shitty pull-ups and paper-thin "diapers" in the future, because they did never experience the real thing as kids?
I vividly remember my diaper swelling up so much I could barely walk when I was a kid and listening to the crinkly sounds whenever I tried to move stealthy.
Memories this generation will probably never have and so will the future "diaper"-fetish not having much to do with diapers I think.
I mean, like the asians are using rather Pull-Ups or go the diaper-free-bs-route already.

Lol. Living in a developing nation that doesn't have incineration for energy as central part of their waste infrastructure. Where household waste is just sent a landfill.
My apartment building has a tiny landfill bin, which gets rarely emptied and has never been full, because we got recycling and energy waste bins.
