I'm still reading Game Obu Familia. The mangaka's style seems to get more and more cheesy with each chapter, and I dislike that he has no qualms with raping/killing off minor characters left and right for absolutely retarded reasons while giving the sisters plot armor from anything bad happening to them (unless it happens to one of their caretakers/minor characters by proxy). It feels cheesy/like bad writing. Brown girl should have been raped by the lizard several chapters ago at this point if the author was going to keep with how this is a "cruel world" and everything is "so grimdark." If anything, MC needs a reason to remember that this isn't a fucking game and brown girl needs to learn a fucking lesson about trust/honor. Plot armor in a grimdark world setting like this is absolute bullshit.

Recently read through all of Raqiya, mostly for Boichi's art. The story is an absolute clusterfuck of religious babble, cool guys in suits with guns, and some truly stunning spreads. if not for Boichi's art, I don't think the story would have held up. He pulls off some great scenes later in the story that show massively detailed cities being utterly destroyed.
However, this felt like Origin all over again. All at once, the story goes from 0 to Warp 9 in the span of a couple chapters, and then it just ends all at once, and it doesn't feel like anything was really resolved. Things happen and plots develop, but you hit that last page and you're not sure what the point was. At about the last quarter, the story completely betrays itself anyways and pulls a bait and switch, which makes a lot of the really jargon-y chapters going on at length about Gnosticism and Catholicism feel unnecessary. It's hard to say that it was a bad series to read, since it only clocks in at 50 chapters, but it's also hard to say that it was especially good.

Trained since childhood to be a killer, the dude doesn't know how to meld into society, faking his identity and with his boss' trusty driver going with him on tard wangler duty, they set off to Osaka to live there without catching anyone's attention, or at least, that's what they were hoping for.

I decided to read the first few chapters of the LN (about 70 pages in). It's... Smut through and through, but it's pretty obvious that the author is well versed in Isekai fantasy. They try to play it off as a comedy, but there's nothing particularly comedic about it past seeing into the eyes/thoughts of a dumb slut tricked into being a dumb whore for dumb men. They play up the whole "falling in love with the town bicycle" tropes several times and it more or less revolves around the MC being a manipulative bitch. If you read it trying to relate to MC it's disgusting, but if you basically look at the MC as 3DPD thrown into a 2D world it has some level of novelty to it such as the scene where she tries to explain what head is to a priestess who came to her for advice about how to date one of her regulars at the brothel. You shouldn't have sympathy for the MC though. She's a vapid, dumb cunt who uses her cunt for money while getting cheated out of her earnings by her customers (such as when one steals a song she played on a guitar and sells the royalties to it).

Guess I'll just pin it on them being fatigued after fucking off from the colony or something. I've seen cases like that before, and it makes me wonder. How do anthologies like this actually work?
Do they solicit specific artists and ask them to contribute something, then publish all the contributions? Do they have open submissions where anyone can send in their oneshot, and they pick the most suitable? Basically, how much obligation do they have to publish what they get?
It seems common for even the best anthologies to have one or two stories that just feel out of place, even if it's not necessarily as extreme as that one, or even strictly a bad thing on its own. One that's more explicitly sexual than the rest, or leaves the "romance" too vague compared to the others, or takes a darker tone. Just something that feels like it belongs in a different anthology than the one it's in.

I can't exactly send you the entirety of popular theatre comedy spanning from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, but maybe you can start with the Imaginary Cuckold by Molière. The fact that Sganarelle in this is deliberately the subversion of a cuckold, one who actually isn't cheated on and is just a paranoid buffon, should tell you plenty about the prevalence of the role at the time.
Fact is the cuckold was a recurrent character, much like the magic negro archetype would be today, except in a time without wikipedia and quirky pop culture sites to autistically catalogue it. So no, it's not exactly possible to condense that in one source with a few paragraphs a millenial can easily digest despite having never seen a classic play in his life. It's a bad idea because it has a tendency to dominate the work to the detriment of everything else; as you point out, we see the exact same thing in movies, where political focus generally comes at the expense of character development, plot, narrative structure, humour, and everything else that would make the work entertaining. That's true whether you disagree with the specific ideology or not.

How would it be any different from the shows that pander to a hobby or the tourism anime that we keep seeing? Cute girls can make anything work and so far Japanese author seem to have enough integrity and skill to put some actual depth in these sorts of works so that they do end up being more than just shallow MSPaint comics. Often these kinds of works tend to be better than the ones that exist to promote mobage and those ostensibly do have characters and plots to work with. Nationalist girls doing nationalist things could work just as well as any other CGDCT.
No.937158
>>937157
The difference is that hobby anime are based on the idea that the hobby is fun, and since fun things are fun, it entertains. Whereas a manga that focuses on politics is inevitably about being right, and listening to an author talk about how right he is isn't fun like a CGDCT is. Sure, political philosophy can be read for pleasure, but that kind of interest is generally better served by more direct political essays.
When you try to base a piece of entertainment around an ideology, it usually ends up closer to revenge porn manga than hobby manga, the kind where everyone but the MC acts like a retarded sociopath.

No.937171
>>937158
You're just straight up wrong though. Its not even always about hobbies. CGDGT can be about literally nothing more than 3 schoolgirls meeting foreign exchange students. If you can make a good SOL about that you can easily make a good SOL about ultra nationalistic girls doing cute ultra nationalist things. It doesn't have to be a 40 page monologue about how niggers are stupid. They could just have a chapter where they meet a nigger who acts like a nigger in a humorous way for example. The plot isn't niggers, the plot is a conflict with a nigger.
There are tons of good movies with politics in which they don't get in the way. The reason modern movies are so shit is because its so far left and so blatantly in your face it gets annoying. From my perspective every war movie about ww2 is a political movie but I still enjoy saving private ryan.

Every ideology's political cartoons look like that. Assuming you mean that kind of stuff as it would be before passing through the author's filter, then details you get on any English-language site will be based on thirdhand hearsay whose reliability will typically have been judged by how well it agrees with what the person answering thought the answer was from the beginning.
