Currently watching Majokko Megu-chan and it's pretty great. Nice mix of slightly lewd and funny episodes and tragic stories, filled with tears. I have nearly fallen in love with Megu, she is charismatic and mischievous girl. I really like how magic was shown in older mahou shoujo anime.

Anyway, let's discuss some Mahou Shoujo, older and modern ones. I hope there are some appreciators of this wonderful genre here.

 No.931280

Newer types of Magical Girl where it's trying too hard to be edgy has nothing on the tragedy in these classic ones. If you want "suffering", don't watch Madoka. Watch this.

Yeah, this shows used to have characters dying and suffering even before it became fashionable with Madoka. Actual deaths were more rare, but that made them more impactful and valuable. And execution was a lot better.

The last episode was especially good, made me cry a bit. Story about a boy, who have fallen in love into a girl who walks past his window every morning, but have never attempted to talk with her, till he died. It was masterfully directed and had extremely beautiful BGM. Just a little episode that came out of nowhere and went to nowhere, but it managed to leave a trace on my soul.

I must say this guy know how to handle his tsundere. Just one slap on the face and she stopped shouting how she hates him and have completely fallen in love with him. A lot of romcoms could have been a lot shorter with that tactics.

I'm glad you liked it. I hope this gives you the realization that Madoka didn't invent anything. It's like what TTGL is for mecha. Something for the newfags to jump on and call revolutionary because it's babbys first Mahou Shoujo.

I miss all of Toei's Magical Girl before they decided to just do all Precure all the time.

Just finished Nanoha Reflection.

Very Nanohappoi movie, filled with giant beams, destruction, misunderstandings, loli breading rituals and unmeasurable kindness. The kind and gentle face Nanoha had after she had beaten an enemy into friendship is something rarely unique and priceless. It made me experience catharsis and instantly recall those half-forgotten feelings the original Nanoha anime gave me.

Though, I must say that cliffhanger ending was a bit disappointing and new characters designs were a bit generic, but it didn't spoil happiness from reunifying with Nanoha and Fate in their loli-forms. Their ageing in Strikers was a mastake. And I wish slice of life scenes were a bit longer, but it's what TV anime for.

>I hope this gives you the realization that Madoka didn't invent anything.

I had this realisation long ago and it isn't my first classic Toei MS anime. Even though Madoka actually was my first Mahou Shoujo and I am grateful to her that she brought me into the genre, the anime really didn't have anything new. And it's quite sad that the genre is dead outside PreCure and Madoka lookalikes, it used to be one of the richest and the most diverse ones.

Is Haruhi a Magical Girl?

>>931570

She magically makes my penis get hard, so I'd say so.

>>931570

Not really. Not every girl with supernatural powers is Magical Girl. And not every Magical Girl even was human, there are some robots and cyborgs among them.

I hope you aren't thinking of Diebuster.

I was thinking about Miracle Shoujo Limit-chan and Cutie Honey. I haven't watched Diebuster yet.

Mahou Shoujo Ore a best. Prove me wrong.

 No.932669

>>932575

The Pig Girl of Love and Courage Tonde Burin is better. Both anime are parodies, but Tonde Burin has managed to stay a good Moahou Shoujo anime.

But do they have macho magical girls and youma gore?
