To keep things interesting, tell us about what (unusual) genres you're into at the moment. After reading "Himitsu no akuma-chan", I wanted more series in the 'shounen'+'shounen ai' genre. The series 'Yugawara-kun wa Ooyamada(... )' scratches that certain itch, though, the series is pretty superficial. Anyways, manga thread.

I have the same itch. I just want the same general air and sensibilities as the other romcoms I enjoy, but with cute boys instead instead.

I still enjoyed Prunus Girl, but you're absolutely right that he fell on the wrong side of "draw a girl, call it a boy". In trap material, particularly in SFW manga where you don't see the actual dick but in general as well, there needs to be some boyishness.
Trap Heroine has the same problem. Yeah, he acts like a boy sometimes, but his body is too female. That series also isn't doing itself any favours with the class president either.

Yugawara-kun I'm pretty confident I've never seen posted before, Mokuyobi I think I've seen mentioned but I'm not sure, and neither Akuma-chan nor Prunus Girl get any sort of disproportionate attention. In fact, more common than anyone bringing up Prunus Girl legitimately, there's an anon in these threads with an odd grudge against it that I've seen complain about it getting posted, usually in threads where it hadn't actually been mentioned by anyone. And typically the only time Akuma-chan gets brought up is as an example of a distinctly masculine trap, which it's one of the best examples of.

Crows
The proud Harumichi Bouya is transfered to Suzuran middle school, also knows as the crow high, where all the students are ruthless delinquents and he's set to become the N°1 fighter but as he beats the shit out of people, shit starts escalating into something else.

The Legendary Musings of Professor Munakata
A professor of folklore travels to Japan to find out the origins of myths and legends. He routinely runs into people that are in situations similar or related to said legends. This one is definitely for folklore-inclined anons since it can often be a bunch of words and wild speculations, but it's like a nerdier Mushishi in a way.
First chapters are grounded, but it quickly comes to be straight supernatural.

Some may think that sounds alright at first, but between the undesirable attention (e.g. from the very old), the fact that it would make "true" affection impossible since it could never be distinguished from whatever is causing the rest, and the simple matter of how fucking inconvenient it would be to ldeal with it day-in and day-out, it sounds like a complete hell.

>I like traps and cute boys, I really do. However this is where I draw the line.
Obviously.
In a trap, femininity's balanced against his male nature. The two are in harmony with one another. He embraces girlishness, but doesn't try to replace himself with it; trap characters are often the first ones to remind people they're boys. When gender bullshit is involved, the harmony becomes a conflict. It's the difference between two instruments playing different notes that together make a single piece of music, versus two instruments playing different songs from each other at the same time.

I wonder if the latest chapter is a just a one-off thing or if will come back to bite her. "I'll do anything" is a bad promise to make to a spirit or god. Not to mention the fact that technically, by praying to the god of the shrine, she directly acknowledged it, which is exactly what she's been trying to avoid the entire time. The translator offered a good idea as to what the さんかい means, but it's still ambiguous. And is it even a good thing for them to get rid of the one following Hana, given that it may have been sort of protecting her? The miko were oddly cute though.

You just confirmed that you're a newfag. Most manga magazines axe around a dozen series per year, WSJ works the same way it did a decade ago.
New seralizations per five year period:
1980-1984: 83
1985-1989: 69
1990-1994: 65
1995-1999: 63
2000-2004: 57
2005-2009: 58
2010-2014: 55
2015-2019: currently 55, the period will end with around 60 new series.
WSJ tries to keep a constant number of series in the mangazine, meaning a new series only follows a finished or cancelled series. And while this list is simplified, and doesn't separate naturally ending manga from axed manga or manga that ended for another reason, the trend is still evident.
No.930585

No, they aren't. A series gets axed because it doesn't match the expectationsof the editors. But, honestly it's a waste of time debating with you. You're clearly just baiting or are pitiful individual who wastes his seeking attention and validation from an anonymous imageboard. Delays are common in the manga industry. And the manga was serialized in an app. The last three chapters are usually free in most Japanese e-manga publications. There's not going to be any significant negative publicity for one of the largest manga publishers when a series just mysteriously ends for "unknown reason". Mangaka spergouts aren't that rare, publishing a rape scene in a shounen mangazine is more risky.

Here's the real story. Yabuki searched for assistants, that's how he meets Kashiwagi Shiho who becomes his assistant in 2001.
They marry and then have a daughter in 2006.
Shiho goes full power 3DPD after giving birth, and just spends all her time on NND. She then starts working on collaborations with Nakamura Ine an NND e-celeb who plays music while wearing a horse mask.
At the beginning of 2009, Shiho kidnapped their daughter, stole credit cards, and tried to divorce Yabuki because of his bad personality. Something along the lines that he can't separate fact from fiction. She asks for a large amount of money and assets.
Shortly after this, rumours of Shiho being in a relationship with Ine are floating around the web.
An investigations begins, and the police finds evidence on Shiho's PC that she is a relationship with Nakamure Ine (who was 18 at the time).
Nakamura Ine apologizes on his blog, and later deletes all his known web accounts. Here's a YT mirror of one of his videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdWk83kESC4.
Shiho realizes that this would mean that she's going to lose in court, so she changes her strategy to demanding money for the custody of their daughter. Yabuki who is heavily restricted by the weekly manga schedule, and who doesn't want to drag his young daughter through a long stressful court process decides to pay her.
All of the things about Haruna being based on Shiho, are exaggerated fake rumors which were likely based on blog posts by Western bloggers who speculated that the reduced screen time of Haruna could have something to do with the divorce. To Love Ru isn't even written by Yabuki, it's written by Saki Hasemi.

>two groups working on the same manga
>one group puts up a credit page saying that asking for donations is bullshit and a scam, and that scanlating most manga isn't anywhere near as expensive as some groups make it out to be
>comment section predictably filled with drama
>second group responds with their own credit page

>Shishunki Bitter Change
This was a reread. It is still as good as I remember it, there is a bit of a lull towards the end of the HS arc, but I still enjoyed it and the ending, which I originally thought was underwhelming, was pretty satisfying.
Also, I believe Yui and Yuuta are still swapped. The way "Yui" speaks and the fact that "Yuuta" called "Yui" their boyfriend lend credence to this idea. Also, it'd be pretty fucked up if they swapped back so many years later and the people they're friends with just have to live with the personality changes.
Can't wait for the epilogue chapter, but the scanlators last updated on that around April saying they were working on typesetting, so I don't expect much at this point.

It has only pictures and dialogues with no depth behind them. Sure, there were some panels, that made to admire them for tens of minutes thinking about feeling of characters, but they are far and apart. In LN it happens every couple of pages. I was completely serious. Just a tiny quote from the LN:
> On August 14, 1971, a team of researchers led by Dr. Philip Zimbardo commenced an experiment under a grant received from the United States Department of the Navy’s research institute, the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The planned duration was a mere two weeks. Its objective was to collect rudimentary data on an issue with Marine Corps prisons that the navy was also facing.
> The participants recruited for this experiment were normal college students of sound mind and body. On the second day, however, the team ran into a serious ethical problem.
> Not only did those who had been assigned to be guards verbally abuse and degrade the ones in the prisoner role, despite the prohibition of such behavior, but also acts of physical violence had become increasingly prevalent. As a result, the team was forced to discontinue the trial only six days after it began.
> This later became known as the Stanford Prison Experiment. Ironically enough, notwithstanding the pitfalls of the project’s dubious morality, the results were replete with implications for the field of psychology. Along with its predecessor, the Milgram Experiment, the Stanford Prison Experiment demonstrated something fundamental about human nature.
> In an isolated space, individuals would submit to power and authority, while those in dominant positions would wield it without restriction. Analysis of this phenomenon, known as “obedience to authority,” yielded shocking results. Surprisingly, this deference had nothing to do with a person’s rationality, sensibility, or personality but was instead the product of remarkable deindividuation triggered by the assignment of roles.
> In other words, the two experiments demonstrated that human behavior was dependent on environment. To put it in extreme terms, the results indicated that anyone could have worked as a guard at Auschwitz, regardless of their individual disposition or moral character.
> In the end, environment played a larger role defining an individual than personal traits. When he learned in university that humans were that sort of creature, it felt right rather than wrong.
> Surely everyone learns as part of compulsory education in elementary school that all people are born equal. Children are taught that they are all equally unique and irreplaceable. But it isn’t hard to find disparities that contradict those familiar maxims.
Does at least one manga has something equally intelligent?

Depends. Something like the Parfait anthology series is pretty much uniformly pro-loli in the comments. It's things like harem manga with one loli, or the one above where they can convince themselves it's not romantic, where you're likely to see people mad about it.
By far more common than any explicit endorsement or condemnation is the constant slew of FBI jokes.

Every time JB does something that people respond negatively to them for, justified or not, they immediately cry harassment. They've done this so often that I firmly believe they've been making shit up this whole time, or at least blowing it out of proportion. The earliest incident I can remember is that they picked up a popular series that Mangastream was also doing, and they alleged that they received death threats/doxing attempts for daring to make a non-shitty scanlation. I believed them at the time because of Mangastream's scummy behavior and the profit incentive of knocking out competition.
During their time at Mangadex, they have started drama several times and fallen back to the harassment angle to cover their asses. The group delay feature was their biggest one. MD was completely on their side on this one and even issued an announcement suggesting stricter moderation if people didn't stop shitting on them. This would be hilarious in retrospect if it didn't ratchet the community one step closer to being destroyed - having to create moderator tools and strict rulesets instead of playing it by ear lays the groundwork for tone deaf moderation.
The recent shitstorm they kicked up has "they're becoming Crunchyroll/Fakku 2.0" as a casus belli, but given that they misinterpreted a Mangadex admin saying "if you have issues with a group, take it up with them and not us" as "dogpile these fuckers", I feel this is the root cause and they were just looking for an excuse. JB exists in the space between the freedom-as-principle manga community that exists here and elsewhere and the profit-at-all-costs cocksuckers that exist at the margins. MD bent over backwards to accommodate them because they believe in letting scanlators operate how they please, which is a fine principle, but it led to them getting burned in the end. Now they have people hounding them over Discord chatlogs, asking for donation transparency, random nobodies saying they're going back to ad-laden aggregators, and God knows what else.
This isn't to say that Mangadex did nothing wrong here, and I hate when people say something is pulled out of context to cover their asses and never provide said context, but I will always believe the opposite of what JB says. I will reserve any criticism for when they actually try to do what they've been accused of and not just daydreaming "wouldn't it be nice if we didn't live in a legal grey area?" in their Discord. Trust me, I'll be the first one to jump ship if they do. Reminder that they ran a legitimate business on the side to pay for this site early on and their information is theoretically out there, should we need it. Not that I'm worried, of course. While Crunchyroll managed to kill anime fansubs, Fakku couldn't kill Sadpanda just because of the nature of how manga is produced and distributed. Big producers like Jump already have freemium websites and phone apps for distributing their content. There would be no incentive at all for a single "legit" website for this sort of thing.

I'll give you the premise that'll make you not want to read this shit: MC is a the healer hero that gets bullied so hard he wants revenge, so he "heals" time and goes back to the past.
It gets to point where he "heals" tits and a woman's body (dick still stays on) on a dude who's trying to kill him and leaves him to get raped on a burning building.
tldr: Ow the edge the manga.

Oh yeah, listen to this anon. That's why I said "out of spite". It's complete bullshit. His power is Heal [insertanythinghere] and he's pretty much just an asshole whole looks for cheap excuses to take revenge on someone.

>Shishunki Bitter Change
I picked it up on a whim after reading this comment. It's pretty good so far. The art's kinda austere for my liking, but it's gotten better as it's gone on I think. I'm at the beginning of the high school arc right now. I'm a degenerate so I hope they start dating for real in switched bodies; that'd be entertaining. Pretty good though.

The only novel of those I've read is Villainess, and I've been following the manga adaptation of Sword, and more recently Succubus. Haven't touched any of the others, even Slime's anime.

the manga adaptation of Sword, and more recently Succubus.
That's the ones I'm reading too. Sword-dad is actually enjoyable and Succubus is just a fun ecchi comedy.
>Haven't touched any of the others, even Slime's anime.
Same here. I read through the first few chapters years ago because the concept sounded interesting but dropped it pretty early on. The screencaps I saw from the animu confirmed and even exceeded my worries. I knew it was going to be a dumb power-wank but I didn't expect it to ruin monstergirls.
>>933189
That doesn't sound very good then. "Being memey" isn't the problem. Solving problems with "skirru" and "reveru uppu" is.

>Breaking news! High school girl has boyfriend! What a scandal!
The latest arc of Saotome is really dragging and is killing my enjoyment of the series.
She's not an idol, she has no job, she has no contract. She's literally just a girl in a high-school sports club. The principal has decreed that relationships are allowed for the student body except for one particular student who for no reason other than "she's popular" is banned from having one. It's a stupid way of forcing pointless drama.
No.933204

Pretty much everything on the list devolves to shit in one way or another it just varies on how fast it happens. The slime one by far does it the fastest though. And at least the vending machine has a unique path of fuckery to go down, albeit none of the characters are really likable so it's a moot thing.

Been reading a manga called Gleipnir lately. Basic premise is boy has the power of "Turning into a Fursuit for [Reasons] and fights monsters.''
Pretty good, but the translation goes at a snail's pace. Good horror shots, and has that odd sexuality to it that I love so much. Has an official release but it's only at volume 2, as far as I know.
Looking for more of the same but my usual manga site is dead

I've been reading "Coffee and vanilla", a shoujo. The development seems to go quite fast. Already by the third chapter, the heroine suddenly has a boyfriend and has been taken to the bone zone. Although I dislike unwarranted drama, things seem to be going a little bit too smoothly here, as unusual as it is, I want to see more drama.

Sounds way too fast. That pace sounds less like an actual romance and more like an easy girl swooning and opening her legs for the first guy to make her heart flutter.

I recently posted how I dropped the gooktoon Abandoned Empress because of translator bullshit, however, another one I've deliberately dropped has been mahou tsukai no Yome. I rarely read shoujo but one I remember fondly is Taiyou no Ie. FMC's mother cheated on her father and they divorced. Years later, the.father remarried and she's struggling hard to adapt to her new family. The story is about how they live together and support each other as they try to fix their family problems.
