It is a korean MMO adaptation, making a decent plot probably wasn't given a ton of priority. Gonzo probably figured they could slide by with fanservice since it's just an ad for something popular anyway.

I never knew they made a Blade & Soul anime. I liked the game until I hit max level and realized that the PvP was meant to played on 1 ping. Thanks OP, I was just looking for some trash to power through.

Picking up every single anime that airs is a waste of time. If it interests me, I pick it up. If it's shit I drop it and move on instead of wasting my life watching poorly-made cash-grabs.

Watching anime is never waste of time. Every single anime gives you experience, and experience helps you to develop your taste and deepens your understanding of anime as a cultural phenomenon. Even if anime is poorly made, it can be analysed on the subject of what creators wanted to do, what they actually done, and what mistakes did they made. Often they wanted to do exactly what they actually done, so anime can't be really considered poorly made, and it's actually your fault that you fail to enjoy it.

That logic is only halfway sound. Just because someone manages to make exactly what they wanted to make doesn't mean it's automatically worthwhile or good, the authors might very well be retards with shit taste, too.

Also as someone who does pick up a whole lot of shows every season, there are a good number which really don't have any merit, because they are so by the books, so generic, that even the mistakes that occur are all things I've seen several times over.

And last and least, there is more anime and related content out there than what you can possibly consume in your life, you should probably spend the time on things you enjoy, instead of on "learning experience" bad anime.

It isn't important. If creators managed to do what they wanted to, this automatically makes anime a worthwhile piece of art. If you fail to see it's merits, it doesn't mean that they do not exist. You should be less arrogant and try to look for a faults within yourself and never think yourself better than other people. Chances that it is you who is"retard with shit taste" are a lot higher.

I only really remember how bad the QUALITY got at about the halfway point. Some backgrounds looked like they were from a PS1 game and I think there was a backgound character walking in place for a full scene.

He's mostly correct. When you compare the current season/year to older anime you're comparing the best of a very small sample to the best of a much larger sample. If you want to do a fairer comparison you need to compare the current season with a randomly selected season from back then.

There's probably still some variation in quality, but I expect it's much smaller than you think.

I just finished it and it wasn't nearly as bad as anons were claiming. It had the same tone, themes and characters as the game without centering it on a random level one farming to max level. There were no glaring examples of QUALITY, and there was surprising little emphasis on fan service. My biggest problem was that they rewrote two of the girls into psychopaths, and turned the crazy dom lady into a regular functioning person with a wholesome non-sexual relationship with her underlings.

It's following the adventures of an autistic mute murder hobo through a MMO world while staying true to it's themes. When was the last time you heard of any story that was based off of a videogame being good? There was nothing amazing or technical about it, but compared to some of the seasonal trash we get these days, it was passable.

Almost every event mattered when it came to MC becoming completely mind broken and eventually conquering her emotions. There were only a few lazily animated fights, but that really wasn't the point.

So one big .jpg with charts of every tv series and OVA released that year from 197X up to the current season divided in two columns, "old" and "new" anime. New would be from the 2000 and on.

As for classifying how good each series is, I'd rather not do that. Ideally you'd ask someone who has watched everything. I'm not that person and I don't trust anyone online saying they are either. I think a better idea is to select the ones that have "high production value, historical importance, or just widely positively regarded over the years" (still have to come up with a better description). Doing this will not still give a final answer unless old anime have a much higher ratio of series that is marked as worthwhile to the number of series released when compared to new anime. If the ratio is the similar or maybe the ratio idea isn't good at all then we'd have to properly rate every marked series on how good it is and only then compare how better or not old anime is than new anime. We could use the anime club here for that; watch all these series and then try to come to an agreement on a fair rating.

So after I finished typing this I started to wonder what did I even expect to come out of it. A big .jpg that would end the argument immediately whenever it is posted? Would anyone change their minds after looking at this one .jpg?

On the other hand, a good videogame based on a manga/anime was SnK. I don't care about the series but the gameplay is amazing.
