Both of them would be great. Though for the Iliad it might be better to skip a few parts, like the Catalogue of the Ships and Diomedes' aristeia, since the main focus of the anime would likely be Achilles, Agamemnon, Patroclus, and Hector.
The Odyssey would work perfectly as an anime however. A 2 or 3 cour anime could cover everything.

A good book, about a baka gaijin becoming honorary nihonjin and a hatamoto. Loosely based on the real story of William Adams.
Good book, highly recommend, and also Tai Pan.
If ever learn to draw, would make a fan comic based on the novel, trying to combine both a western and japanese art style to show the differences between the two cultures, and start drawing the main character more and more as a manga character, to show his transition.

There's this book I read once, I think it'd be perfect. This is how it goes.
A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Because these works don't need to be adapted.
If you can prove a story would
become better
as an anime, then it warrants adaptation.
Otherwise really why would you do it?
Look at No Country for Old Men, good book, god awful movie that was tone deaf, failed to copy style and left out crucial character development that's necessary to the story, made by Reddit's 2nd favorite directors the Cucken Brothers.
Just a complete massacre of the book, what would anime have to offer the Bible that the Bible already doesn't?
What possible artistic lens can you filter the story through in anime?
Is it going to outdo the original?
If not then don't bother.

Nothing about it would make it perfect for anime. It's got a movie already. Anime is for things you want to see animated, for things that won't work any other way. By the way, several times has anime been adapted from Western Books and they were all hits. Look into World Masterpiece Theater. Yes, they were worth becoming anime.

I doubt that. It's simply a medium of expression, like all the others. While I think the suspension of disbelief is automatically inherent in it more so than any visual medium, I don't see why a well animated movie or series about nothing would have no value at all.

>Said families' kids cannot help but engage in playground warfare on a daily basis
>The single father and the single mother end up falling in love
>They want to marry but have to somehow get their rowdy children to stop fighting each other first
I can't help but think pre-1945 German cinema is really similar to anime and Nipponese cinema of the time.
They all have long establishing shots, calm and deliberate camera movements, sparsely used background music so one can focus on dialogue and extremely natural acting that doesn't require much to suspend one's disbelief.
Weirdly enough they also don't seem to be pushing any messages beyond working for the best of one's people, whereas early post war German cinema had strong Christian conservative influences which later evolved into "counterculture" degeneracy.
