Let us discuss this show once more. It's been a little over a year since it aired. Has it lived up to your expectations? Did you feel betrayed? What did you think about the last episode? Did it hint at a second season? I personally thought it to be a 4/10 at best and do not understand the hype behind it one bit.

Feel free to quote any post in the past I've made. I'm here for pure, unadulterated discussion of a show I find to be very confusing.

You're not very good at this. Your last thread got deleted because it was obvious you were aiming for a bait thread centered around LWA. You barely changed the OP.

The primary reason why people were excited was because of the OVA. The TV series is where trigger did its trademark move of shitting it all up.

I think it held up nicely. Still tons of stuff to de-occult. The symbolism is not "lol symbolism" as in Evangelion, it's actually an instructional material for young witches and wizards.

Undeniably a treasure of occulted information. Instant classic. The 1st movie was special, but have far fewer layers of occulted juxtaposition and social commentary on the real state of bringing magic into the mainstream.

For example: There is a reason the witches can't use magic beyond the reach of their (djet) tower... that little dude at the bottom means "earth / grounded". If you're not grounded that device will shock the shit out of you like a Tesla coil. The little monkey in the Dendra "Light bulb" image is an aspect of Thoth, he has a sun (light) on his head, and is making the same shape with his arms... What this has to do with cellphone technology manipulating the minds of the masses is the primary subject of LWA.

>you can't use magic without

But why? You said there's a reason. But dying is not a reason. It's a result. How is something an instant classic just because it borrows popular tropes and does nothing with them?

Akko is by far the best thing about LWA. The anime and OVAs were mediocre, but I enjoyed them simply because of Akko. I have a real soft spot for genki bakas like her.

The show itself fell into the same trap as a lot of fantasy: it put too much mythological stuff into the world without enough lore and logic to tie it together. Lots of things only appeared to exist for a single episode, and the Shiny Rod was a constant source of deus ex machina. The setting ended up feeling inconsistent and shallow rather than mysterious and magical.

It's a shame because some of the core parts of the setting were cool and well thought out.

Medabots

 No.915642

why do yurifags ship Diana and Akko so hard? It's obvious to anyone (even me, a guy who enjoys yurishit) that they are friendly rivals and that's it. We have no reason to believe any Little Witch is a fag and there's zero sexuality at all in the show. The only "evidence" I've seen is from out-of-context scenes where Diana and Akko fight and later team up for a larger cause. Nothing in that suggest they have romantic feelings for each other and nothing in the show itself supports the idea that either is a homo.

 No.915647

To be fair, medabots was designed to be a tournament-like game in the first place.

In a sense you're completely right, but I find that kind of argument very tiresome. People come up with all sorts of fan theories and headcanons which aren't supported by the source material. At least half of the doujinshi sold at comiket are purely wishful thinking.

Yes, it's better if fan works maintain consistency with the source material, but there's nothing wrong with expanding upon it and introducing new themes. There's no proof that Akko and Diana aren't interested in one another, so the yurifags aren't exactly contradicting canon. They're just building on it.

Completely agree. it was actually annoying how by pure chance Akko just happened to go though a specific situation to learn the exact word she needed to learn. If you trade two of the situations she needed to go though with one another just because it would be in the wrong order she was supposed to learn the words then it would screw up everything and that's retarded. And plus some stuff they really needed to address or give proper closure and never happened.

One big example is...how in the flying FUCK you actually you use magic in this universe? Anyone can use magic? Anime make it seem "normal" people can't but...what in the fuck is normal people then? You need to be from some fancy witch family like Dianna to use magic? But that's just not the case with many of the witches like Akko herself. So what gives? As much you can argue that say the world of Happy Potter also have stuff that make no sense (why some wizards are so much stronger than others if in that world you can't like "level up"?) at least it's very consistent in stuff like how you use magic there; you NEED to be from a family of wizards otherwise no magic for you.

In LWA it just make no sense. It feels like anyone can use magic if they bother but then how in the heck magic is in such a state of decay? You would think if magic was that easy to learn then it would always be so popular that would never be at the state of decay as the anime shows.

Here is what I remember from the anime and my own speculation.

People have a predisposition to certain arts or sciences(some are gifted musicians, other are math geniuses and so on), and there are those who can attune to magic. Of course genetics and blood lines help.

Magic in this world, involves manipulating the ley lines from the word https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ley_line such as the roots of Yggdrasil. However since the industrial revolution, because of so much technology and maybe pollution, those ley lines have been destroyed, so only small corners of the world can allow people to use magic(such as the crystal in the school). This is why they are basically useless in the big cities, and why Crox tried to create new lie lines, by using people's strong emotions.

Any questions?

 No.918273

>>918268

>Of course genetics and blood lines help.

That was always a problem I had with these supposedly wholesome shows. They imply that some people are genetically better than others just because they were born a particular way, without taking the time to show that the any deficit is made up in other ways.

 No.918275

>>918273

>Some people are better than others, why can't we all be equal or get to the same place on hard work alone?

Welcome to the real world, faggot. Enjoy your stay. Children's shows recognize that some kids are better at certain things than others whether west or east.

 No.918276

Even gifted people need to work their ass off to become number one, it was shown that Diana actually lost all of her magic abilities, and had to train day in and day out, to become the best. Even in real life, people like Usein Bolt fast as he might be, had to train a lot.

>>918275

Some people also have this naive notions that talents/gifts/abilities are like stats in an RPG, and we all have equal amount at birth, so if someone is smart, then he is ugly and poor, if someone is strong then he dumb and poor, and if someone is rich, then is dumb and ugly, when there are people who are smart, charming, athletic and rich.
