It's been some time since the last one.
Post the doujins, tags, and artists you're reading, or that you hope to see scanned or translated.
There's a new interface and new features out. Do you love it? Hate it?
Personally I think the new look is much uglier, both in layout and in aesthetic style. Having the page count be visible from the search list is definitely something I've been wanting, but otherwise I prefer the old format (now called Minimal).
As for the tag watching and blacklisting, I'm apprehensive. As appealing as blacklisting sounds at first, I think I prefer the way the old Tag Flagging perk worked which I only bothered gathering the Hath to buy a month ago, just in time for it to be made redundant . It's not uncommon for only later entries in a series to have something undesirable, like NTR, or for different versions or translations of the same work to have different tags and only one to have the unwanted tag. The old Flagging style made that easily visible, whereas the new system just hides the ones with unwanted tags.
Meido EDIT: For those who didn't hear the terrible news, Sadpanda is no more. The site owner has opted to shut it down due to a law change in the Netherlands, and will be shutting down e-hentai in roughly six months according to insider sources. It's because they went for the "flat and minimalist" style, which in most cases translates to "lazy, low effort, and ugly".
There are two major types of general-consumption software developers: there are those who only know how to make a fancy and flashy (and usually ineffective) interface, but not the software to use with it, and end up producing bloated pieces of shit with a shiny coat of paint, and there are those who don't know how to make a fancy interface OR software, and produce bloated pieces of shit without the paint. The latter, since they needed at least something for their shitware, managed to meme what little they could do (solid flat-colored rectangles) into being treated as a worthwhile aesthetic motif of its own. The entire style can be summed up as "make it look like a placeholder we tossed together in ten minutes".
The old buttons looked better because the new ones are designed to look like they weren't designed at all.

I kind of like that when a tag is flagged it's not just a symbol encompassing the 6 or 10 tags, whatever it was, that you picked for that color and you'd have to mouse over it to see what's flagged, but it actually just lists the tag now. Other than that it's mostly shit. Haven't fiddled with it much yet and didn't realize it actually filters your unwanted tags now. Although it does kind of appeal to me, sometimes anthologies and such will have that chapter or two that will get stuff hidden despite the fact I want to see a different featured artist's work. So all in all, that will probably end up being a pain in the ass.

It's really jarring when a site you've used every day for years suddenly style changes and it's mostly for the worse. Yeah, there might be more information on the page, but it's also cluttered. Not sure how to feel about the blocky, solid-color category icons either. One sorta nice thing at least is the cover preview when hovering over a title is larger than it was before.

The main issue with the UI to my view is the category buttons all have white text and it doesn't stand out on most of the colours. But the real problem isn't the look, for the most part the layout is identical. It's that it broke the download script I use.

I don't really mind the look of it besides how bright the colors of the buttons stand out against the background. I switched it back to minimal and I have been flipping back and forth to compact to slowly get used to it. I like seeing the tags before I click on shit or hover, and I like the greyed out line to let me know I have seen something before. I dont really blacklist at all because people always suck at tagging so I can miss good stuff by trying to get rid of the shit.

I'm not a fan of animated hentai in general. I tend to prefer manga or individual pictures.
I find most scenes overstay their welcome, and visually it's generally worse (the motion not making up for compromises in the art). And I also find that for whatever reason things that turn me on in doujins do nothing for me when animated. It probably has to do with the animation filling in blanks that doujins require you to fill with your imagination, or sometimes leave unfilled entirely.

I think it's not really something inherent in animation as a medium. It's just an issue of logistics: There's no way someone could animate a decent amount of well-drawn smut on par with the best eromangaka without an unrealistic amount of money and talent behind it. Even ecchi-heavy mainstream anime rarely, if ever, reach this level.

I didn't definitely expect to respect a character in a fucked-up porn work as much as I ended up doing, I don't know what the fuck happened there.

Since the filter was already getting in my way I spent a moment to realize that you can just uncheck both watch and hide and it still gives you an indicator for bad tags without rendering the watched feature obsolete. If there's something missing from Panda, I look either at Expunged or I upload it myself.
It might get Expunged later, but I don't care, I use Panda mainly to favorite stuff, to keep them, and Expunged galleries work fine that way.
To read manga per se, Panda is so slow it hurts, so I just use nhentai.
I used to use pururin.io for that, but then I realized its adm is not the same of old Pururin and made the shift (they have retarded rules for uploading and the site is organized like a mess).
What do you guys think? Hentai2Read seems to have loads of stuff (they have, like Pururin, the Chapter system), but quality is crap.
HentaiFox seems good (they use the same site layout as Pururin) but they don't seem to have the chapter system.
KissHentai isn't good.
Tsumino branded itself in the past as the Pururin-successor, but failed the task and lost this post to nhentai.

This is really frustrating. I understand Dutch and I've looked over the rulings and legislation over and over again and nothing seems to have changed in the past few years. The lawmakers did not want to stifle the creative outings of the human spirit and did not want to impede on the groundlaws of freedom of expression and privacy.
The article pertains to 1) A depiction of a real child 2) A depiction of a real person that looks like a child 3) A realistic depiction of a fictious child
The court ruled that possesing a non-realistic depiction of a child does not fall under article 240b (or any other laws).
The defendant was sentenced to three years jail time and some community service (because of the real CP)

There is still some small amount of loli/shota material accessible.
Uploads that got expunged for being duplicates are often poorly tagged. This includes tags that could have gotten them hidden behind the panda. They show up in search results if you tick the "show expunged" option. There's also an "Already uploaded" tag. Obviously it'd be impossible to search for them generally, since it depends on the tag not being there, but if you have a specific one you really want, or if there's an artist or circle you like (since those generally are still tagged on expunged dupes) you can give it a shot and hope for the best.

There's no Fanbox or Fantia equivalent I know of to /fur/'s yiff.party for Patreon. Some pay-gated material gets posted on boorus, but it isn't at all systematic. Exhentai was the best place, and in most cases apparently the only place to find those galleries. I have no doubt there will be many places to post scans or translations of doujinshi. But where can these image galleries be posted once e-hentai is gone? Is there anywhere that saved the ones already gone, like Jaku Denpa's?

There's no conversion to do. All a CBZ is is a ZIP file with a different extension to indicate it's intended as a comic book viewable file. CBR is the equvialent for RAR, not sure for 7-zip.

Ok so I found a way to download any EX-gallery through the archiver that only requires the id of the gallery that you want to download.
First you want to locate a few dummy galleries accessible through e-hentai, preferably with a low download cost(more on that later).
Archive download them and get to the "Click here to start downloading page" (pic related)
Copy the link of the page and save it in some .txt file.
Then all you have to do is change the numbers after the archive/ with the gallery id that you want to dl(while of course keeping the rest of the link that comes after it).
If you're lucky the title of the previous "ready for download" gallery should update to the one you desire
If you're not and you get:
>Archive is not assigned to this server
Then repeat the same process but this time with another of your dummy gallery until it works (4 or 5 should be enough to dl any ex gallery)
This doesn't work forever and at one point you'll get:
>You have clocked too many downloaded bytes on this gallery.
To circumvent the issue you just have to request a new archive download for your dummy gallery by cancelling the previous one.
However this will deduct more of your credits so if you have a list of galleries that you wanna dl, before requesting a new link you want to first class the ex-galleries
in group of which dummy gallery will get the download link(doesn't matter if the link you're using can't dl anymore)
and then download them through the archive while occasionally requesting new link if you get dl restricted(that way you're not wasting credits)
The gallery id is in the link of the gallery so you just need a link or to have it in your fav

That's a bug I remember from an evince version from some time ago, where they accidentally added .rar as a mimetype to evince.thumbnailer. Though it was also fixed shortly after. It's not supposed to create thumbnails for .rar/.7z/.zip files.
So if it's still happening for you you could open the thumbnailer file and remove the .rar mimetype. Or you could also add mimetypes for .7z and .zip if you actually DO want it to happen.

You're right, doesn't work for me either even though application/x-cbr appears in the mimetypes list. However showing properties of a .cbr file in the file explorer shows that the actual mimetype for .cbr files is application/vnd.comicbook-rar. I added that to atril.thumbnailer and now I get thumbnails for .cbr files. The mimetype for .cb7 files appears to be correct though.

I've been downloading all the loli torrents (priority over shota). So far the average size of the 355 zips that have finished is 178MB. If you use 200MB per torrent as the average you end up with 7.82TB. I'm download it to my 10TB hard drive so I think I'll be safe.

If you mean if all the data still exists, then yes, all of the data still exists and nothing was lost. But that data is solely in the hands of the sadpanda admin Tenboro. He probably wants to find and hand it off to someone who wants to continue sadpanda's legacy, or release it as an read only archive if he fails to find that someone. So sooner or later, we likely will get all the data, but we just don't want to take chances and we backed up everything valuable we could have in 12 hours.
Right now, there's hopefully an effort to make a replacement site somewhere out there.

The metric I'm using is in filesize. CG sets are usually PNG and fucking massive as a result. Translations can be smaller or can't than the raws, depending. Another critical question though is how much of that 50TB is deleted or deprecated files.

Since I don't have access to Ex-Hentai's library I figured it would be better to grab the numbers off E-Hentai's front page instead of relying on gut feeling.
By going there and enabling 'expunged galleries', the number of results bumps up to 553,044 instead of the original 471,439 results, as of this writing (The number seems to keep going up every time I refresh.)
Here's where it gets confusing for me though.
I then return another search with the 'translated' tag and the number stays at 100,000 results, but the titles that are available change depending on whether or not 'expunged galleries' are enabled. One thing that is certain is any thing past 2014 won't appear, regardless of whether or not 'expunged galleries' are enabled.
One title I can't find in particular in the 'translated' tag is a Dragon Ball Z doujin from 2007.
Is this due to me not not having a perk from that hentaiverse game I never played or not logging in? I don't know how this works.

I have too little power (6 mod power) and no GP to make use of E-Hentai and show only Japanese galleries for convenience in downloading, so there's not much for me in helping out this preservation effort as I'm more focused on raws.

Even if it's brought back it will have stricter rules in regards to copyright, the rebanning of cgi loli(people dont remember but that used to be banned), no publicly visible tags for problematic stuff and/or possibly geoblocking based on content. The site wont have a back entrance that you could only get into if you knew the right knock anymore.
They might pull off an unfjorded Ehentai 2.0 in a year or so, but at that point they're easy pickings since this event has put a spotlight on the sight and the socially unacceptable content it hosts.
The only sites I can think of that operate the same after ten years and allow loli are f-list. I'd say e621 but they removed tagging of lolishota material after paheal banned it.

The file.io link already 404'd. Why can't you just upload them to mega or mediafire through tor? Also consider making torrents for each with the file host as a web seed. Web seeds use http to serve files so the file host will serve the first few downloaders until the swarm is big enough.

Anon who proposed Hydrus a couple of days. BO/dev of Hydrus appeared, and gave some information regarding the use of Hydrus as an alternative of sad panda. To put it simple, it's possible, but not right now.
Numerous ideas have been thrown around about it, but here is what the BO have confirmed:
1) Hydrus is not currently great at handling paged media. It can do it, but the workflow is a little awkward. I plan to improve this in future.
2) IPFS support is prototype, and mostly for advanced users who are already comfortable with the program. I'm working on it now.
3) Hydrus is not for everyone. If you have 10,000+ files and want to manage them better than files and folders, you may like it. If you want a clean and professional experience with beautiful UI, you may not.
So it's nothing but a project now. The main reason I do these threads and post this is to keep anons up to support it and use Hydrus for managing whatever manga they downloaded to be used later when the project get to the point it can be used and to post resources and the such.

Building on top of Retroshare is a much better solution than building on top of hydrus. Recently they added a JSON API which means when it runs in headless mode it basically becomes a generic library that anything can build on top of. Vid related is from earlier this year. Retroshare basically already has everything we would need in a decentralized exhentai successor.

Dounjins would be distributed in .zip/.cbz format like they are now with torrents to keep things tidy. The metadata (english name, native name, tags, uploader, date, etc) would be in a separate .json file of the same filename. Retroshare can index not only filenames but also the contents of the files themselves. This makes searching, distributing, and editing much easier. Instead of going to a website to access everything you'd download a program and use it through that. It could even have a web UI or use Electron so it looks like a regular website.

I believe 10GB is still the max size from what they themselves say. Upgrading to pro, however, raises the limit to 1TB and upgrading to business raises the limit to 100TB.
I don't know how they are with adult content, but I would imagine they still enforce copyright because I remember finding some roms there only for them to later be removed because of copyright reasons.

You can upload to anonfiles & other websites running the same software with a single curl line, and their tools page denotes how. No JS.
You can also upload to MEGA with a software suite called megatools, which can also create mega accounts.
There's a program called rclone which can upload to a bunch of cloud storage websites including mega and google drive. rclone's main purpose is providing a rsync-like interface to those places, but it can also generate links to share.
And if you want your files to last mirror them as much as you're willing to.

I don't like the sound of the "invite only, if you ask the answer's no" thing. Whenever I see something like it usually turns out to be based more on how much asskissing you do than how much you contribute. Especially when money's involved. And what do you know, they flat out tell you that "getting involved" in the forum is MORE likely to get you Contributor status than uploading quality work and tagging well, as well as saying that "have a friend on the mod team" is the easiest method.

The reason I wanted to use Hydrus is because it's a project that started here. It would also be a thing of sharing doujins by pic rather than compressed in .zip/.cbz, pretty much like viewing them online, since it would stream to you file by file from an specific hash.
All Hydrus needs is a better UI, but I guess Retroshare is an ok alternative.

Alright so this doesn't work anymore when you generate new links, seems that someone made it so that the link generated takes into account the gallery id.
Here's the catch tho: if, like me you've kept the older archive links, well they still works but you'll still get the "You have clocked too many downloaded bytes on this gallery".
Well by meddling a little I found that the server the file is stored on, only depends on the last digit of the IP address(the 95.211.212.xxx, it's more precise than just random galleries)
And conveniently, if you change that number, the download limit gets actually reset.
You still need the corresponding IP with the gallery that you wanna dl to access the file, but the rest of the link is just a universal access code to request the dl or so it seems.
