What kind of retarded idea is that? It's anime. Say you want to talk about experimental anime or something like that instead.

You are my anon, anon. Yes, I meant experimental japanese animation or animation with attributes that aren't commonly related to anime. You know, that kind of stuff.
Pic related, I guess.

Anime was the term used by the Japanese theme selves, Westerners just hijacked it like complete tards, like the word "Otaku." when 12 year old girls thought it was something to be proud of.
No.911913

Both "Otaku" and "anime" was hijacked a long time before it was popular among 12 year olds. Japanimation was the commercially acceptable term and we called it anime among ourselves.

Since when? Anime was arguably commercial since the 90's, the transition would have had to occur during the 80's.

But it is something to be proud of. Otaku means "geek" and I know a lot of people who are proud to be geeks.

No.911919

There was no transition. You just think there was because the commercials of the time called it "Japanimation"'. Commercially it shifted, but the guys at the time, when anime made its way into the States through college fansubs on VHS tapes in the back of some guy's truck, called it anime, and each other Otaku. Japanimation sounded cool, so it was used commercially when it started to be distributed here and was picked up somewhat by fans, too, but anime never went out of style. Only recently did Otaku go out of style, on the other hand.
You've just got to use these terms correctly to save their integrity.

>Otaku literally means someone obsessed over japanese animation and other related media.
But that's not true at all, you fag. This is what I'm talking about. You have to use these terms correctly to save their integrity.
Otaku literally means "your house". It was an ancient term used by SF clubs in early 80s Japan to refer to themselves and each other as opposed to using Omae or Watashi. This way when talking, they could refer to the person as well as their obsessive interest, such as Military otaku, train otaku, history otaku, SF otaku, Sailor Fuku otaku, ancient Japanese word otaku, Idol otaku, computer otaku, game otaku, and anime otaku. SF clubs and cons were the converging point of all of these interests where everyone would share what they've been into lately, or Otaku wa. 8/a/ is the successor to this.
Normalfags saw these nerds talk like this and started calling them otaku as a derisive term, and that's the fucking origin, learn your shit anon.

No one cares if you call yourself an otaku in Japan. The term has been so heavily diluted and overused. Origins notwithstanding, it often used as a playful insult between friends. And anyone who calls themselves a nerd to strangers is a lonely, uninteresting faggot who craves self-identity. Otaku/nerd is a label others give you that you wear as a badge of honor.

A lot of international children's stories got adapted by jap studios over the years, check out Ronja, robber's daughter. It's a 2014 3DCG anime, but the 3DCG is actually quite well done. The only thing that makes it obvious is the low framerate.
