It’s decent. The original was a 10/10, Zero is probably a 7.5 to 8/10. It has some Q U A L I T Y moments especially in the second half but it’s worth watching. When compared with the original its a miracle it stands up as well as it does. I’d still recommend watching it, it concludes with a super satisfying ending too.

If Amadeus is a perfect recreation of Kurisu's memories, then the copy is indistinguishable from the original to the point that it should be interchangeable with the original. For all intents and purposes, Amadeus is Kurisu.

I'm mostly disappointed in 0. The show/VN had too many things that don't make any sense.

Why does erasing Kurisu's memory immediately vs hesitating dramatically alter events?

Erasing Kurisu's memories without hesitating sends Okabe to 2036? What caused that? Reading Steiner has only been established to send Okabe to the same time on a different worldline. Never to the past/future. The only thing that ever moves Okabe in time are time machines from the future and the time leap machine, neither of which use Reading Steiner.

Amadeus has Reading Steiner. What the fuck.

Literally every plot line involving Kagari, bitch is a walking plothole generator

Even though Reading Steiner is fleshed out a bit more, there is still no explanation as to why Okabe's Reading Steiner is strong enough to completely and perfectly overwrite memories from other worldlines

Maho-tan can only carry so much on her tiny back. There were some genuinely good stuff about it like the potential horror of AI and how Leskinen basically is the Mad scientist that Okabes persona wants to be but it just doesn't really go anywhere.

I watched 0, and overall I think it was good. Having a second take on what happened in the event that Okabe failed and seeing how he still got to Steins Gate was fun. The major flaw with it was that there wasn't enough Kurisu (real) in it.

Okabe in the Gamma worldline works with Moeka as a Rounder and people like Suzuha and Kurisu are hostile to them. It’s revealed that in the future “Hououin Kyouma” becomes Emperor of Japan under SERN. Plus other funny stuff like that worldline’s Okabe being a fan of Mountain Dew. I went into Zero expecting a lot of what I got out of the original. I got none of that for a long time, and when I did start to get it, it felt forced and like I was being pandered to. The ending gave me the feeling like it was really close to starting to give me what I actually wanted, but then it was over. I would have rather spent the time rewatching the original show.
