Have either of these been announced? With the way the story has gone so far regarding Tae, glasses, that guy glasses met at the bar, and Yuugiri there is more story ahead obviously. If sales are terrible there might not be any more content at all. A movie without S2 would be an admission of failure. Extremely unlikely, split-cour anime are always planned. A split-cour is the committee ordering a 24-26 episode anime, but it's released with a break between the two "seasons".
An anime production needs at least 9 months to create a TV anime, usually it's around 12 months. If there wasn't a split cour planned, then we will get season 2, no earlier than fall 2019.

I really wanted to punch Sakura for being such a negative Nancy. I get where she's coming from and that she's a high school girl but a lot of the problems seem to mostly be her fault. Working so hard that you sprain a muscle or can't perform in a play. Trying so hard that you sabotage your own success is something a lot of people have experienced but hr conclusions of bad luck are faulty. I guess people rarely see their own faults and have to have them pointed out to them relentlessly until they realize it themselves which is the story they're going for. I'd honestly rather have the other girls backstories fleshed out in singular episodes than see Sakura which seems to be the weaker of the characters on the show.

Sakura's drama felt forced to be honest. She never struck me as the depressed character, her personality was more like a normalfag tsukkomi with some genki thrown into the mix.
Suddenly she develops this autistic fixation with preparing for the show and ignoring her teammates (despite being the most caring of all), and when she gets over that she goes full hikkiNEET.
Otherwise, it was nice to see the cast show they care. The show didn't have enough bonding moments to really convey the way the idols feel about each other.
No.886961
>>886932
I disagree. During her speech about how nothing goes right for her, Sakura's fixation on practicing made perfect sense to me. She just needed time to get comfortable as both a zombie and an idol. The reason she got upset was probably because she viewed the mountain retreat (as it was happening) as the beginning of another failure holding her back. All subconsciously, of course.
>The show didn't have enough bonding moments to really convey the way the idols feel about each other.

It was an okay final episode. I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get a 2D performance after eps 8 and 9 got my hopes up. The stage falling apart around them was pretty awesome though. Besides the performance, I just wanted to get Sakura's drama over with, it wouldn't have been as bad if they hadn't been dragging it through three episodes. At least we got all the scenes of Tae trying to encourage her, which were super cute. And I was happy when Sakura finally came back, although I wish they had at least used 2D for the scene of her rising up.
Overall, I still really loved this show. Admittedly I may be slightly biased because I'd always wanted a zombie girl show and I'm an idolfag. It was a rollercoaster and I really enjoyed it, definitely AOTS for me. I don't think it will quite make AOTY though, it definitely would have had it gone out with a bit more of a bang. On the other hand, this is one of the few shows I'm fine with having a "their battle continues" ending. It would break my heart to see the girls die again as some people seemed to think would happen. After the very last scene I'm certain they have a second season planned. I hope it only gets crazier, but I'm a bit worried because rarely are S2s better than the original.

The actual performance was pretty bland too, compared to what this show has given us so far. I guess since there's going to be a season 2 there is still a chance to redeem the show, but it lost its place in the running for AOTS as far as I'm concerned.

I liked the finale a lot, too. It was very heartwarming, though I think it was a mistake to put both of Sakura's arcs back-to-back like that. And the storm thing did feel to me like a recycle of the thunderstorm concert where they got hit by lighting, only this time it's snow so it's different. But I can't complain, it was nice finding out Sakura's past and seeing her overcome her problems and then get both sets of her memories back. Given how successful the series looks to be we should get another season (hopefully they planned this as a split cour so we get S2 in spring 2019 and not summer 2020). Obviously they're planning to go somewhere with the journalist thing, and we should get a Yuugiri episode as well, in addition to finally figuring out the mystery of how Koutarou can make zombies out of cremains.

CGI in anime wouldn't be nearly so bad if the FPS on it wasn't fucking awful or they at least used some technique to mask the low speed like smearing in 2d animation.

They used to try using higher FPS but it looked even worse. Really what they need to do is select the keyframes manually, but that is more time, and time is money, and the whole point of using CG is to save on money.

So can we finally determine whether it's supposed to be spelled "Zombieland Saga" or "Zombie Land Saga"? All the official material using no spaces around katakana as usual in Japanese doesn't help at all. The logo though separates the two parts onto different lines with different font size, so I'd be leaning towards "Zombie Land". Thoughts?

I can ignore Masao being Lilly because they didn't remind you every 5 minutes about it, or his entire character revolving around that fact, nor focusing 4-5 episodes on it. Japan ends to be a little bit better at these issues than the West.

>Really what they need to do is select the keyframes manually
Some 3D anime do this. Houseki no Kuni had manually selected frames, and made heavy use of the advantages 3DCG provides.
Most 3D animators are just terrible at manual animation with a varrying framrate. It's not a skillset that is standard in 3D or common anywhere outside the anime industry.
Anime 3DCG is breaking into new frontiers.
I am positive for the future of 3DCG anime. The animators just lack experience, their approach is the correct one.
> and the whole point of using CG is to save on money.
No, it isn't. The point of CG is that there isn't enough manpower in the anime industry.
Anime production doesn't increase despite record revenues and profits. This is an ongoing issue since 2014, demand is bigger than the production capabilities of the anime industry.
I don't think CGI is cheaper than 2D. 2D animators get paid worse than 3D animators. A new 3D animator makes almost 3 times as much as a new animator, and 1.5 times as much as a experienced 2D animator (based on 2013 data). And this is me assuming that 3D animators work as many hours as 2D animators.
Despite the hate 3DCG anime get in the West, late night 3DCG anime have been quite successful in Japan. Houseki no Kuni, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Kemono Friends and Sidonia all broke a 5k BD/DVD average. This is impressive considering there aren't many full/almost full 3DCG late night anime.
2D can't fulfill the demand and 3DCG sells significantly better. If 3DCG was as cheap as people believe, then we would have had dozens of 3DCG anime per season over the last years.

One show worthy of note for its good use of CG is Etotama. I don't know why or how they put it together so well, but it worked there, and I'm amazed that these techniques haven't proliferated throughout the industry. Usually when a good technique shows up, people are quick to adopt it. Maybe it's because it's more time-consuming to do it this way?

Has anyone who worked on the show said Lilly is actually a trap? I took it as she was a girl with a manly name as a joke, like men who have female names are a joke. Then i took the hair on the face as an exaggeration of the whiskers some girls grow when they hit puberty. I knew a freshman high school girl who had a beard, and I remember its started growing in like 4th grade.
