It's been a while! I remember, about three or four years ago, how we had a thread here on /a/ about just hopping on Google Street View on a completely random Japanese city or location and getting lost, taking screenshots of the places we saw, and judging whether it was cute or not. I remember that some of the places I saw in a completely random city called Morioka would eventually come to define my first trip to Japan. At the time, I thought I'd never go to Japan, and yet, when I had the chance, I took the time to go to those random Street View places.
Maybe this will inspire you to do the same. So, what I want you all to do, is to go on to Google Street View or your equivalent street view site and just drop yourself in a random place that isn't Tokyo or Osaka. Explore around, take screenshots, and tell us about it. Find cute spots, find interesting things, and just say things about it.
To start, I dropped in a random place that turned out to be just north of Kyoto. It's by Kurama Shrine on the Eiden, so you can visit it with a good day trip out on a train and bus. Or you can drive there, it's all good. It seems like a comfy drive, at the very least. I do want to visit Kyoto again, but the outskirts in particular. The mountains around Kyoto seem almost mystical to me, so it'd be a nice experience. Just watch out for the traffic cameras.
What interesting place have you found, /a/? What can you tell us about it?
