What do I think of Zombieland ep. 4? It's better than ep. 3. There was more shitty 10 fps CGI, but it was over with pretty quick, and most of the episode was just pure zombie idol fun. Not bad considering I went in with pretty low expectations from the last ep.
Also, that ep. 5 preview caught my attention. Maybe they're back on mostly the right track again!
No.873658
Banchou gets a little bit more best girl every ep although she has damn close competition from Manager-san.

>Episode 1 was a wild ride that used surrealist twist after surrealist twist, making the most entertaining out of supremely dumb premise, the idols do nothing but do the scream and headbang part of death metal
>Episode 2 went in stride, rolling off Tatsumi's crazy and powering through the uninteresting team drama to culminate in a surrealist rap battle juggling the head of DENSETSU YAMADA TAE
>Episode 3 has one joke of Tatsumi being unable to spell guerilla and is all completely unironic idol drama, culminating in a completely unironic generic idol song, densetsu yamada tae being much more reserved
>Episode 4 at least cuts down on the drama to bring more character development through QGDQT, which is objectively preferable, but they also reuse the same fucking song from ep3 and Tae has nothing legendary about her anymore
>When suddenly, finally zombie comedy
>Nah, never mind, it's basically an isolated incident of no importance, and Tae had no role in it

I'm interested in Manager-san's motivation. He pretends like he's just going to goof off sightseeing but in reality tries to secure the partnership deal with the manager. He consistently invests the most effort into the group despite pretending to be aloof. Loved how he got a completely over-the-top sundae while the business lady just had a coffee.

I heard episode 3 had a special guest writer, although I can't confirm this, it would explain why it was subpar. This episode was a lot better, especially the zombie hijinks what with Sakura's detached head being found floating in the onsen and the hilarity that ensued.
No.873714

Rain was enough to remove the makeup in the first episode, but then the footbath in this one didn't take the makeup off their legs. Unless they're wearing some kind of suits to conceal their arms/torso/legs, and the makeup is only for their faces. Or perhaps Manager-san is using a new kind of water-resistant makeup that can withstand the footbath but not the higher temperatures of the onsen.
No.873718
I half expected that the girls had mistakenly entered the male side of the onsen, and that the cop was going to walk in on them. Lack of the cop was disappointing in this episode, I hope he is in the next one along with the metal heads from the first two.

I don't think I like this method of turning any negative aspect of the show into "it's just irony bro." I even see people saying the whole ep. 3 was just an ironic parody of bad idol anime. So what's the difference between that and an actual bad idol anime? I mean that's literally what you're watching at that point. It lets the producers get away with absolutely anything, and people just eat it up because anything bad could potentially be construed as parody. It's sort of like a reverse Poe's Law.
>>873714
Yeah, the only payoff from all that was just that one scene where they slip on the patch in the hallway. I was also expecting a lot more. Do you think those warnings were actually just a "don't try this at home" thing, or maybe they planned to do something more with it but couldn't?

No it isn't. Love Live was always promoted as a multi-media project.
It followed the same business model as Bandori, Revue Starlight, Akanesasu Shoujo, etc.
-release some basic character information, maybe publish a manga and/or novel
-release an anime
-release a game while the anime airs, or shortly after it finished airing.
The game is the core piece for a multi-media-project, a successful mobage makes far more money than an anime.
Nowadays many people call an anime released under this model a mobage advertisement.

No, despite having a lot of lolis, it really isn't.
It's the only idol franchise (involving 3DPD) that sells with mature woman/cake appeal.
The lolis are kinda stuck in their own silly little events every now and then, and stay there, it's rare for them to have a lewd card (especially after the first few years), and as expected their popularity plummeted so hard you can't really find them in top 100 characters even in official popularity polls while mature girls dominate there.

There have probably been about the same amount of cake only events as there have been loli only ones too. And the card art in CG is in general pretty tame, very few are very lewd.

The few lewd ones are the cakes though (though in the first few years, some lolis had lewd ones, like the ones who were in the anime but reduced to cute fluffs, Rika and Miria).
But besides that, LL has youthful, round designs, while CG has mature designs going on for its high school girls (anomalies like Anzu aside), and just look at the popularity polls.
If I cared about fanworks, I'd be all over CG, but I'm not, and what the lolis contribute to its appeal are by far overshadowed by being the most mature looking idol franchise I've ever witnessed.
Million Live is back to original Im@s-style, much brighter and youthful designs, so I'd rather take that any time of the day, but as it doesn't have anime adaptation, I didn't rank it.
And even aside from all this, the anime adaptation of Cinderella Girls was absolute trash, especially the second season with its "evil for the sake of being evil womyn in charge" bigshot, if the super stiff, huge and rich corporation setting already hadn't alienated anyone.
No.874370

>It's the only idol franchise (involving 3DPD) that sells with mature woman/cake appeal.
It sounds like you're talking about LL, because LL's fanbase is close to 50% female.
The only part of Im@s that's popular with woman is Side M, and at least in Im@s case most woman are otaku or have had some contact with otaku culture, the fandom isn't getting flooded with deranged female normalfags.

First off, the majority of fans of LL is still males, but that's not what I meant.
I don't mean that has appeal to mature women, but that it has mature woman/cake design idols as part of its main appeals.
You literally can't see any working idol groups with as mature looking members on average as CG has.
No.874374
>>874368
How "youthful" the designs look is completely subjective, and thus irrelevant to this argument. You also contradict yourself by claiming that the lolis aren't popular, but then that they get so much fanwork that you'd be "all over it" if that was what you cared about.
The first season of CG was fine, other than the Mio angst episode. Most of the unit episodes were really cute. I agree that the second season was shit ruined by drama, but don't try to pretend that the drama in LL is any better.
No.874375
>>874374
It's not really subjective though, unless you want to say that for example Anzu's design is only subjectively more youthful than for example Uzuki's, since they are the same age.
And I don't have any problem with drama, I have a problem when the characters are lifeless, or when the focus is uneven as hell, and the other girls do nothing aside from their focus episodes, I have a problem with an altogether retardedly stiff atmosphere, I have a problem with how they try to make the show feel so mature, and failing in that because of the retarded authority figures of the industry. That involves Producer-san too, who were fine for a while, but his character got really old and passive.
They could have done things in a way where you could feel the group caring for each other, and see their growth, like Im@s 2011, not to mention how the performances were bad in CG to top it all off.
Also, I think we should take this elsewhere, this is still Zombie thread, so polite sage.

>the group caring for each other, and see their growth
It sounds like you are misunderstanding something. The Cinderella Project (200 idols) is just an assembly of several smaller idol units. They are only one team for project wide songs but aside from that the idols are in one or two units in addition to their solo work. Naturally they are not going to all care for each other and growth is extremely difficult to achieve with so many people. The anime adapted maybe 25 or so idols from the Cinderella project in its very early days. You would need hundreds of episodes to tell a story to fully get into character growth.
The weakness of Cinderella (too many idols) is also its strength as out of 200 idols, the token loli in other media projects (346, LL, etc) becomes 20 lolis and the token cake becomes 20 cakes. I dont think Cinderella caters to any particular audience as there are so many idols to pick from, most fans will be satisfied. Arguably Cinderella tries to appeal to everyone.

At least ep 3 tried to have a a gag of Sakura being constantly outshined by other girls. Sure, it wasn't funny but at least they tried to write a joke.

>I hope you're taking notes on how to bait Anons into watching your shitty idol shows in the future.
It's not really something that can be replicated for something like, say, Locodol. The only reason this became successful is because the show itself baited everyone into watching it with death metal and rapping. Anything I do personally isn't going to help past the point where they watch 3 episodes and decide to drop it.
Sunshine had a full meme force behind it, and I'm not sure it really helped all that much. I'm just glad that non-idolfags are actually watching this one so it can show them just how fun idol shows can actually be. They get caught up in the drama or whatever usually and thus never really understand that they're just fun shows. I'm glad this is changing their minds. And hopefully it'll help shape their minds around accepting real idols in the long run, too.
