I thought boneman's wacky antics with his co-workers would be the focus, but it was "LOL LOOK AT THE DEGENERATE SHIT THESE PEOPLE ARE BUYING" instead. I don't know if the rest of the manga is like this or not, but I really don't feel like watching another episode.

I started sweating

I liked it at the beginning but the part after foreigner Fujos appear was lame. It never really felt like they were the butt of the joke and ended on a good note for some reason.

The mangaka hides private info but I checked the Mangaka's twitter and with my autistic intuition I can easily say the mangaka is %100 a woman, definitely a fujo and might've published yaoi doujins herself. I am not sure about this but I think she also probably has good English and visits Tumblr. And very little chance but might be living with her mom. This is just conjecture though.

Anyone wanna beat on this more? I'll give it a few episodes since there's barely anything to watch this season but I'm not expecting a lot. I'd like a show about a manga store and stereotypical readers with reference jokes but if it will be from a fujo perspective I'm not interested.

I still don't know what to make of this show. Now that the fujos are gone there isn't even anything to get worked up about. It can't just be a dry look at how a bookstore operates from now on, can it? What's anyone getting out of this?

I have things to add after looking around some more.

Apparently Honda's gender was not said explicitly in the manga, but from some lines by coworkers and his(?) general act most readers had assumed Honda to be a woman. From what I've seen most readers of Manga are surprised Honda got a male seiyuu.

Makes sense since it's based on a female Mangaka's real life experience even though most of the stories are exaggerated to hell, the characters being all non-human and mangaka hiding her identity is a way of keeping privacy for herself and the customers the stories are supposedly based on(Imagine if a doctor or psychiatrist became a mangaka and wrote stories about his patients doing dumb shit and called them based on a true story, it would be a no-no unless you hide their privacy well enough).

According to the director, producer side strongly asked Honda to be cast with a male seiyuu, even he was surprised at first(This is directors first work by the way).

When you think about it it makes perfect sense, why else would Honda fawn over the gaijin man and get asked to recommend BL by fujos immediately? It would definitely feel more in place and unique if Honda was cast a female seiyuu.

The reason for abruptly putting a skeleton on HRT might be because normally a female skeleton is so rare that I can't even think of an example right now, everyone would assume a skele is male from just looks. Or producer side's request comes from mangaka to protect her privacy further.

I first thought armor manager in charge of BL was authors self insert this episode before it said Honda is based on mangaka, I found it weird that her self insert was a man but turns out I was right on mark. Not only is the mangaka a woman but so was the MC originally.

I honestly have no idea why I even care this much about the background of this shit.

I regret giving this three episodes. I watched the second half of this at 2x speed and I still feel like I wasted my time. No jokes, no interesting anecdotes, no book discussion, just boring inside baseball about bookstores.

This show proves that it's completely possible to go into a series with zero expectations and still be disappointed.

I dunno why Honda even thinks that could be possible. The Ainu cooking and hunting parts are historical and cultural, there's no way that could be the reason for censorship. Things like the Japanese H. H. Holmes and Ed Gein are bigger reasons to censor but nobody gives a shit, it won a Taishou and Tezuka award.

Flaying an animal isn't even the most grotesque thing you could find in a seinen. From what I've seen that law is mostly for sexual things like lolicon.

This was a pretty nice show. Having worked briefly in retail, I can totally understand the pain of poor Honda. Learning more about the peculiarities of Japanese bookstores was also very interesting.
