Do you think love can bloom, even on a battlefield?

It's pretty decent for a shit anime, though it's guaranteed to get worse.
No.866522
Visually it's pretty nice and the humor is all right but it's just so painfully generic. I rolled my eyes so hard when the kids showed up, and when the typical anime goons try to rape her I just dropped it on the spot. I don't need to see a Romeo and Juliet retelling that's been injected with every generic anime cliche we've already seen in a billion other shows.

It probably only sells because of Persia and Hasuki since they're the only redeeming factors of this shitshow and deserve to be in a better series, especially Persia.

These last episodes are why I don't like shonen harems. For the vast majority of the season, it did a great job of balancing comedy and serious moments, that is, it never got bogged down with any serious matters and always quickly turned anything with drama potential into comedy.
Last few episodes, it repeatedly spilled over heavily into drama, and the drama is not good. The reason all the stupid shit in the setting works is because it doesn't take itself seriously, but then we get these dramatic moments and there's nowhere near enough suspension of disbelief in me to take those at face value.

>Show suffers because it tries to force drama in a show that doesn't take itself seriously
You hit the nail on the head there. It certainly didn't help that they run out of budget about half way through. Last few episodes looked awful.
Overall this turned out to be a disappointment. I initially enjoyed it as a nostalgic romantic comedy, but by the end there were so many episodes spent on stupid shit that no one cared about (3 on the sports festival, several on Persia's birthday) that it just became a drag to watch.

>since they're the only redeeming factors of this shitshow and deserve to be in a better series, especially Persia
The problem is that in a fictional story it's not that hard to conjure up a girl who makes your heart and dick react, especially in anime and manga with the plethora of well-developed archetypes, so even bad writers can get successful if their terrible story has popular girls. Really, just a single heroine with a good design can sell a whole franchise. This is why romantic shows are doomed, they simply don't have to be good to sell.
