Kadokawa holds the 30th anniversary of the Sneaker Bunko Festival at the 4th November 2018.
The mainstage features Haruhi, KonoSuba and Lodoss.
The Haruhi event features Aya Hirano, Gotou Yuuki and Chihara Minori.
It's also Haruhi's 15th anniversary, so there is a good chance that Kadokawa announces something big for the Haruhi franchise there.

The Haruhi franchise is fucking dead all things considered and Kadokawa are greedy jews which is why they'll probably announce a crossover with Kemono Friends to instigate the restoration of the Japanese Empire at the hands of raging Otaku.

>Sakura Production announced on Monday that Momoko Sakura, mangaka of the Chibi Maruko-chan franchise, died on August 15 from breast cancer. She was 53 years old. The funeral was held among family and close friends. The main character Momoko Sakura's seiyuu for the anime series, Tarako, also expressed her sadness regarding the news.
>Born Miki Miura, Shizuoka in 1965, Sakura is known for being the mangaka of the Chibi Maruko-chan manga series serialized in Ribon magazine between August 1986 and April 2009. Nippon Animation produced the anime series, with the second season airing since 1995. As someone who liked the show, I can say the budget WAS indeed the problem.
Everything became just jerky looking, unstable, unattractive after a certain point, in fact for almost the entirety of the show. When something was animated more than just the basic motions, I actually felt it out of place because of how it usually looked.
They can't expect something that's so lazily animated to sell, that's the sad truth of the matter.
Production values don't only matter when it comes to action/battle series.

(I'd provide an archive, but archive.is is shitting itself right now)
>Sadness has been expressed throughout the city of Shizuoka — the hometown of Momoko Sakura, creator of the popular “Chibi Maruko-chan” manga and anime series who died of breast cancer at the age of 53 earlier this month.
>“She was just like a grown-up Maruko-chan — charming and warm-hearted,” said a 57-year-old woman who works for the operator of a theme park featuring the world of Chibi Maruko-chan in the city in central Japan. She said she remembers the manga artist enjoying looking closely at drawings by the children who visited the facility about five years ago.
>“I can’t believe the news. It was too sudden,” she said.
>Akito Wakamatsu, an 11-year-old boy from Gifu Prefecture who was visiting the theme park, said, “My younger sister likes (Chibi Maruko-chan) so we came here. We’ve just taken photos with the character and I’m sad to hear the news.”
>At the entrance of Chibi Maruko-chan Land visitors signed a book of condolences, leaving messages such as: “Thank you Maru-chan” and “I loved (the manga). I will read it forever and ever.”
>Sakura went to a city-run elementary school in Shimizu Ward, which is located about 1.8 kilometers away from the theme park. The school was used as a model in Sakura’s works.
>“Maru-chan was very important for Shimizu. I’m surprised (by the news),” said Koichi Shimura, a 39-year-old company worker whose children go to the school.
>A housewife in her 50s who also attended the school said, “Ms. Sakura made Shimizu become known across the country. Her death is regrettable.”
>Since fiscal 2007, Sakura had provided illustrations to support her hometown’s promotion activities for items such as name cards used by city workers and ballpoint pens. She also wrote lyrics citing tourist attractions and specialities for a local traditional dance song.
>“She greatly contributed to publicizing Shizuoka City. She liked local festivals and zoos very much and had lots of love for her hometown,” said Shizuoka Mayor Nobuhiro Tanabe in a statement.
>Fans were also seen visiting a pop-up Chibi Maruko-chan goods shop at a commercial facility at JR Tokyo Station. “I’m shocked because I liked it when I was in elementary school. It was homely and heart-warming and I can’t think of any other work that can be enjoyed by three generations,” said Kanako Tanaka, a 27-year-old housewife who came from the city of Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, after hearing the death of Sakura.
>Mikoto Nakada, a 21-year-old university student from the city of Saitama, said as she visited the shop: “I am lost for words. She was such a great person, with her work loved by all generations.”
>The cartoonist’s death was also reported by news media in China, where the anime series is known as “Ying Tao Xiao Wan Zi” and is popular among young people.
>Chibi Maruko-chan is “one of my most important childhood memories,” one fan wrote on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter, with others also expressing reactions on the microblogging site.
>A Chinese woman in her 20s told Kyodo News, “I studied Japanese by watching it.”
>The slice-of-life comedy depicts Momoko Sakura, nicknamed Maruko, and her family and friends in what is now the city of Shizuoka in the mid-1970s.

>I don't even think they want anything to do with Haruhi anymore
That has nothing to do with Haruhi.
Kyoto Animation changed their production model in the early 2010s, in the 2000s they were just a contractor or a low ranking member of the production committee.
From the early 2010s onward they have lead the production committee for their anime, that means that they contribute the most of the anime's budget and receive the most of the rights/profits.
This is normally the role of the rights holder or a large publisher (Aniplex/Kadokawa), since Kyoto Animation finances their anime on their own now, there's no reason for Kadokawa to work with them anymore.
That's also why many of Kyoto Animation's modern anime are based on their inhouse light novels.
It isn't impossible for Kadokawa and Kyoto Animation to find an agreement, but it's unlikely for the reasons I said above.

SAO is a megahit in Japan, and received decent reviews by Otaku sites.
Characters like Kirito and Asuna also rank really well in Japanese character polls.
The West is the place with an irrational hatred for SAO, primarily driven by e-celebs and their followers.
SAO is just a mediocore franchise that managed to hit the Zeitgeist of Japanese otaku, it isn't "the worst anime ever created" like some Westerners claim.
And a new SAO season certainly isn't pandering to the West, it is one of the best selling otaku franchises in Japan.

Yes, japanese teens exactly have money for that kind of crap.
And people who buy a shounen title like that are casual shit, even if they are adult, and not otaku. Look up what the definition means, it's not "anime watcher".
It's a typical shounen power fantasy crap franchise (even GGO alternative isn't much different, and its anime adaptation made it sure not to offend casuals by removing any loli sexualization too).

The modern usage simply means fanatic or hardcore fan.
An otaku has an obsessive interest in something, it usally is used in connection with anime/manga/games, but in recent years also found wider usage.
>If you hadn't noticed, anime is as casual and normalfag of a medium as it can be, so yes, teens buy it up, like they buy CoD, or play Fortnite or whatever over here.

Late night anime are primarily aimed at otaku, and intend to make money by selling expensive BDs and merchandise.

The theoretical Japanese Orthodox Church would operate as its own independent entity, by Japanese and for Japanese, and the Japanese would, as a nation, have to make the decision to turn in that direction for themselves. Eastern churches, especially those actually based in eastern Europe, are also very aware of the JQ, at least from what I've seen of them so far.
There's a fair chance that when he's thinking about Christianity, he is, like most westerners, thinking about Catholicism, which is exactly as he describes. Catholicism has a much larger presence in the common thought of Japanese society, and that's not by accident.

To me, this just looks like a subtle attempt to popularize christianity in a nation that either doesn't care at all about it or sees them as the slimy con artists they are. Christian followers are usually cattle, but their leaders are smart. Popularizing their religion through one of the most popular mediums consumed by gullible young people is obviously a good way to do it, but you can't impose strict guidelines just yet because you're already fighting an uphill battle to get into these people's minds. Truly you have proven to me that there are no malicious individuals who could or would ever attempt to use religion as a tool to exploit the gullible masses to further personal agendas. It's not like the people leading a massive organized faith claiming to be speaking for omnipotent force which can influence the decisions of their followers and subsides entirely off them would stand to profit in any way if they encouraged these followers to go out and bring in even more followers. Especially now that society at large has become more secular, what possible interest would a church have in increasing their number of devotees?

The initial point was "people spread their religion because they are actually religious". If the reply was a shitpost, what other answer do expect than a shitpost in return?
The entire situation is different depending if you look at it from an atheist or theist point of view, in the later case it then depends on the individual religion. Simply going "No. Religion is bumb and only ever used as a tool for the dumb masses" just simplifies things too much.
No.862499
>>862483
If people "are actually religious", specifically if they completely honestly buy into the laughable major judeo-christian religions, those religions have it in their doctrine that you should go out and convert others. Regardless of what an individual's personal motivations are, if he spreads his religion he is furthering the cause of the whole organization and implicitly helping it achieve whatever goals it has.
My point is that organized religion is very easily corruptible and exploitable by the people at the top, who care less about your spiritual development and more about making money and being in charge. Being part of one and helping it spread, even if done with the most noble of intentions and of your volition, is still a means to their ends. If you have a faith, make it your faith, not what people with a vested interest in telling you what to do pressure you into believing.
I'm not saying religion is dumb, I'm saying religion is personal. You can take whatever moral teachings and metaphysical beliefs make sense to you out of any of the faiths that are out there and they will define you. I don't think it's desirable to let other people define you, because they just might not have your best interests in mind. Especially not people who specifically target the young, the uneducated and the distressed, those who aren't the most rational or confident in their own beliefs and are very susceptible to easy, feelgood answers and fearmongering.

Japan Is First To Land Rover On An Asteroid
https://archive.fo/uNQev
The Hayabusa 2 mission is visiting an asteroid 200 million miles from Earth to collect samples. The mission profile involves a lot of robots, bullets, and explosives.
In 2014, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched the Hayabusa 2 spacecraft on a four year journey to Ryugu, an asteroid nearly 200 million miles from Earth. The spacecraft has been in orbit around the asteroid since June and early Friday morning dispatched two rovers to the asteroid’s surface.
The confirmation of these rovers’ safe landing will mark the first time that a maneuverable robot has landed on the surface of an asteroid.
The two JAXA rovers, named MINERVA-II1 A and B, navigate using a “hopping” mechanism. Using a more traditional form of locomotion such as wheels or crawlers was impossible because the gravity on Ryugu is so weak. As soon as the rover with wheels started moving, it would’ve began floating upwards.
According to JAXA, when the robots hop, they stay in the air for up to 15 minutes at a time and can move around 40 feet per hop.
The first time a spacecraft landed on the surface of an asteroid was in 2001 when NASA’s NEAR mission touched down on Eros. Since then, several missions have been deployed to asteroids and comets, but none of the landers have had the ability to move once they touched down on the surface.
The two robots have a total of seven cameras between them, which they will use to create a stereo image of Ryugu’s surface. Later in the mission, Hayabusa 2 will dispatch a third MINERVA-II rover to the asteroid’s surface as well as the MASCOT lander developed by Germany and France.
Before Hayabusa 2 departs the asteroid, it will fly close to its surface with a sampling horn and fire a small bullet into the asteroid to collect the particles that are ejected during impact. To get a deeper asteroid sample, the spacecraft will also drop a small explosive charge to the surface and a camera will capture the explosion on video. The spacecraft will have to wait for nearly two weeks for the debris from the explosion to settle, at which point it will descend into the explosion crater, collect a sample and then begin its return journey to Earth.
Hayabusa 2 is expected to return to Japan in late 2020.

2chan is right, Akiba is primarily suffering because of the internet and not because of foreigners.
You can just order all your Otaku content online, there's no need to go to Akiba.
Even if you have very niche interests like building robots, online speciality stores beat Akiba.
For foreign otaku it's the "holy land of animu and mango", they actually purchase things there.
Without them Akiba would just die, it's located in the center of Tokyo, there are more than enough companies who would pay a small fortune for properties in Akiba.

Where did you get that? It's only the first few posts replying without reading and repeating authors points saying "no shit". There's even a guy saying "Wouldn't it be better if otaku died since nobody likes them anyways".
Though the rest of the thread is mostly agreeing that it has changed. I read everything and it's not only gaijin to blame but most of his argument is sound, though it all seems to be an inevitable thing that would've happened either way. Some important parts:
>Internet made tech shops useless as the deals are rarely better on site, the workers in shops are not passionate otaku about what they sell anymore
>The Densha otoko movie made public look towards Akiba and affected it badly
>Maid cafés at first were more relaxed places with girls not knowing what to do, doing their best with their understand of what a maid is and often going along with the customers demand, but they got attention in the West and public, became a sightseeing thing, number of cafés increased way too fucking much and the girls started to act on fixed roles(Honestly though who cares)
>Shops around the stations have workers that speak Chinese etc. selling anime figures several times the market price in hopes that foreigners will buy them

The issue is it became more lucrative as a tourist attraction then as a place for niche stores. The same thing happened to halfchan normalfags flooded the place because it was interesting and fun then MOOT and the mods began catering to normalfags over the people who made the site what it was in the first place. The less then desirable things were removed but then long time things the old community loved also took a hit either being removed or made plastic and fake.

>The only big announcement so far was Shin Kaku Gi Kou
Posting more information about it:
Here's the animated PV. Mobage and a novel by Kamachi are already planned. The story for the mobage is also written by Kamachi.
The mobage is going to be fully voiced and includes many famous Seiyuu including: Hanazawa Kana, Kayano Ai, Taketatsu Ayana, Minase Inori, Irino Miyu, Nakamura Yuuichi and many more.
Considering Kadokawa's involvement and the resources behind this project, it's basically inevitable that they are going to announce an anime (probably by Trigger).

I have bad news, anon. That's her "ugly form". Only when she unbinds her large breasts, unbraids her hair, and takes off her glasses does she suddenly become irresistibly attractive.
Also the series is shit.

Jashin-chan Dropkick will get a season 2 if it manages to sell more than 2000 copies.
This announcement caused the BD box set to move to rank 58 on Amazon, before that it was at ranks of 1000+.
The 2k sales requirement is fairly low, but Jashin is an Amazon Prime exclusive in Japan, this is likely what causes the low amount of BD sales required for a season 2.

What a shitty combination. You could do Overlord and Re:Zero and Youjo if you wanted to make it more serious, or you could do Pleiades-Overlord and KonoSuba and MAYBE the shorts version of Youjo Senki mixed in, but this particular combination tastes like garbage,

It's clearly not going to be anything serious. I think the commonality between the shows they picked is that they all have chibi specials (except for konosuba, but that has chibis in the eyecatches so it counts I guess).

CR and Funimation end their partnership on the 9th November.
Funimation got bought by Sony last year, and Sony's intent is to turn them into a global sub/dub streaming site.
Sony also owns Aniplex, A-1 Pictures and Cloverworks. This means, that Funimation will likely get exclusive licences for all upcoming Aniplex anime.
They are even worse than CR, so we will get worse Erai and HS versions.

I guess on the bright side this will hurt CR in some capacity, but this will only strengthen Funi in the end since it comes down to Sony choosing one or the over. I guess on the other hand since Sony has been flopping in every area outside of Playstation maybe it will somehow result in Funi getting fucked over too. Granted the possibility of this happening is extremely low, but let a man dream.

I think most people agree with this. Haruhi is my waifu, but it took a decade of them two fighting in my head for me to get to this point. I still love Yuki.
The movie is definitely one of the greatest animated films of all time. I'm glad you liked it. I'm curious as to what you thought of the Linda Linda band episode with God Knows at this point. To us when it first aired, we had never seen a band scene so well animated and it shook me to my core. This show was revolutionary in many ways.
The direction, too. I loved how they did everything in this anime. Yes, I even liked E8. Thanks for watching it all they way through.

>Do You Love your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks featuredOfficially announced today at the Fantasia Bunko Dai Kanshasai 2018 event, an anime adaptation is in the works for the Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? light-novel series. This adaptation will be directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina), with Deko Akao (Frame Arms Girl) as the series’ composer and Yohei Yaegashi (Aki no Kanade) as the character designer. Two of the voice actors have also been announced. The main character, Masato Ōsuki, will be voiced by Haruki Ishiya. His mother, Mamako Ōsuki, will be voiced by Ai Kayano.
>The novel series itself was written by Dachima Inaka, with illustrations done by Pochi Iida. An official description of the story (as conveyed by the licensor of the novels, Yen Press) is as follows:
>Masato thought he was part of a random survey, but when he gets involved in a secret government scheme, he winds up trapped in the game world. Even more surprising—his mother’s there, too!
>Yen Press will be re-releasing the first novel on November 13th, 2018. There is no word yet on a release date for the anime series, but stay tuned as more information is made available. Also, be sure to check out the event’s livestream or the series’ website any additional details.

The PV was just stills drawn by Pochi; I wonder how well they'll translate her art style to animation. I'm not usually a big ara or onee-san fan, but the lewdness in the way she draws them really works for me for some reason.

Konosuba movie gets its title: 「紅伝説」 (Crimson legend). Pic related is the teaser image they posted. I don't know if it's intentional or if JC Staff's animators are even worse at maintaining a consistent style than DEEN. I'm assuming it's going to cover the Crimson Magic village arc but the teaser doesn't really resemble anything specific from the LN.
There's also yet another game coming out for PS4 and Vita.
