It's kind of hard to stop this from becoming ban-related discussion but I really have to agree. I wonder if their isn't an element of self-hatred embedded in the concept too, as most people immersed in fantasy are going to be creative, or at the least indulgent of other's creations, which makes them far closer to an elf than any other typical fantasy race, but since they're only expressing the negative elements of elf-like chracters (arrogance, aloofness, obsession with crafts, etc) and none of the more positive traits, they're only able to see elvish characters in a negative light. This coupled with modern media generally pushing elves to be worse and worse characters, with even Japan pushing the elf-orc rape memes like it's a matter of fact thing, among other similar themes in Japanese-origin western fantasy settings, does really seem to explain the phenomena better than that 'it's just inherent to hate elves'.
Of course I don't particularly like elves, even when they're portrayed well, but there's a difference between not liking elves or taking the piss out of elves in an in-universe setting (like those ravandil's quest videos) or even a setting where political tension makes characters badly disposed towards elves, and the constant pushing of elves as nothing but worthless rape-bait like some militant propaganda, which is what has becoming more and more prevalent of late.

Besides the characters, cooking and worldbuilding, I think the dungeoneering deserves a special mention. The exploration of dungeons plays a big role in /tg/ and /v/ related fantasy gaming but they usually feel like some random background element in stories.
