There is one thing that doesn't make sense to me yet. Why is Emiru needed at all? Between actress and figure skater Saaya and Homare, you would think that would be enough to teach a bot emotions. Also Hana at turbobaka speed would teach Lulu how to be a baka with emotions. Why did they need to make an EmiruxLulu pair or even have Emiru come back at all? This feels like the reverse of some other Precure anime where the closest friends are not the first cures to appear.
Emiru has a great balance of clumsiness, autism, and cuteness. The autism lets her produce gags and memes effortlessly and the clumsy cuteness lets her be a bit awkward yet straight forward with her feelings shes nice to look at too.

Finished rewatching Futariwaprecure. Honoka was so best and didn't deserve that ending regarding Kiriya. Onto the futari movies now. Was max heart a money grab? Just from the preview at the end it seemed like Toei realize they hit money and decided to cash in as lazily as possible by bringing back the dark king again and some new cure maybe. Also considering watching happyness charge next or whichever one had cure lovely.

Then, well, no one watched Kira but I finally went back and told myself I'd watch it in order so I watched Futari wa, which was good for the most part, and now we have Hugtto and I got pressured into watching Heartcatch.

The first quarter was excellent and might have made it one of the best Precure ever made. The two worlds, the adventure, the magical Hogwarts school, everything was fun and interesting. Then Toriyama complained about the animation quality in Dragonball Super, which forced Toei to shuffle their good staff from Precure onto Dragonball.
Immediately after, the show fell hard. They stopped going on magical adventures and did the basic shit in the normal world but with severely lacking quality.
Then the fairy grew up and became the third Precure and the entire show crawled to a halt. Nobody was watching in the threads anymore and we didn't have a Precure Thread for a while. I remember I was one of the last people still posting screenshots until I just stopped caring as well. It was boring and the Deus Ex Machina fairy Precure that solves all problems and takes up half the fucking run time with her transformation and attack. I didn't like her.

Went from watching in silence to PRECURE GURURIN MIRROR CHENJI. It seems theyre trying to turn down the murder on Lovely. The problem is the murder just moved from one character to another, specifically Honey who will literally drop celestial objects on anyone who gets in the way of her rice.
Not sure how to feel about the cards and costume changes. It gets more uses out of the transformation device and more toys sold but theyre not central to anything. All the different dances just for some attack kind of feel like a waste of money designing and animating since they don't do much in battle. The critters this time are cuter than Heartcatch since they dont literally shit out magic. Why aren't the critters around for Hugtto? Is this the only precure without them?
One of the best parts so far is how interesting the Phantom Empire is. Theyre seriously trying to take over the world and are making progress, a world map of their efforts was shown too. It seems theres no end to the number of generals out there which gives opportunity for some really amusing characters to come out of it. Hopefully some usual suspects emerge and get more depth so when the shit hits the fan in 30 episodes its thoroughly enjoyable.
What is the point of this childhood friend boy existing? Hes not going to be a Precure so is he just going to be a supporting character? If he becomes a Kamen Rider that would be interesting. Also it seems the Blue/god/guy is the same guy as in the mirror of the Phantom Empire queen. Fully expecting his backstabbing later on.

Many people were disappointed by this because as an anniversary series, they could have done something like using previous Precure powers in fights as if Lovely needs more fucking powers. Phantom Empire is what every Precure villain group should be. They are practical world-conquering generals and such. Have you been graced with Oresky yet? He's probably the best Precure villain ever, if you even want to call him a villain. He's more like a best bro who would get along with the Precure if given the chance, even sharing the same Birthday as Lovely. I picture them as like a father-daughter world-conquering team who plays games of genocide for fun in an alternate world.

Biggest surprise thus far has been Blue for being extremely relevant. It seems like there are hints of romantic subplot pairings with MegumixBlue, MegumixSeiji, MiragexBlue, HimexSeiji but only one of these seems bound to come up later. The others are hopefully well dead. Biggest disappointment is precure hunter. We can guess his motivation already but hes lame compared to the three usual generals.

Pretty much at the end now. Ten more to go. The romance was interesting at first then get way too far out of hand until it started to become some kind of romantic drama. The dresser is a pain since they now sing to use the innocent attack. You bunch were not joking about the experimental nature of HaCha. Some of the ideas tested are winners and some are huge blunders. The best amongst them has to be Mirage and worst is Seiji.
Seiji was a mistake. The boy only seems to appear just to get punched in the gut unintentionally by Blue. Undoubtedly this will be the "there are many kinds of love" ending to at least give him something to smile about at the end. At this point he would have been better served being a critter or a 5th cure so he could relevant in a meaningful way.
Mirage and the whole Phantom Empire are winners. A broken hearted precure gathers around some people (and an evil mirror) with similar wounds in their hearts and seeks to drown the world in their sorrow. A simple setup, albeit with 3DPD tones, that is far more entertaining than the generic evil Dark King or evil for fun Dune. If the romance had to be somewhere this is the best place for it. I want to call Mirage best girl but Hime exists so second will suffice until completing the rest.

It was kind of anticlimactic. The planet sized fist was cool but Lovely never lost her cool. The biggest disappointment was Lovely vs Seiji since the other cures were written out of the fight and their backgrounds I was hoping for a full episode of exchanging feelings via fists. Instead it was about 3 minutes. Lovely vs Red was much better but by then it was too late to really have an impact. Lovely vs Mirage could have been much better as the stage was set perfectly but wound up being too short to really enjoy. The ending is somewhat insane when you think about Lovely alone ending the final battle as opposed to all the cures together or fused into some god cure.
Its nice that the generals didn't lose their memories and will really change themselves going forward. Oresky as a police officer is hilarious. Mirage and Hime are best girls. I may have made a terrible mistake watching Heartcatch so early. This was good but nowhere near Heartcatch. My favorite precure scene is still the last episode of Heartcatch where Erika and perhaps the studio collectively say "we did something cool". Next is Max Heart and the early movies.
With HaCha complete, Hana is confirmed for a total loser. Its not like Lovely decapitated monsters every week or even used the sword all that often. She did figure out how to melt metal from tens of meters away which is terrifying and did make some lovely battle faces though. For the most part she fought hatred with love and won with hugs, which is kind of what Hana should be doing. Throwing out the sword for a tact sounds like a director succumbing to hate mail which would fit some of the other things that have happened so far in Hugtto.

Its a boy. Minus the skater, all the boys wear pants and all the girls wear skirts. Bishin doesn't bother me at all though. No doubt Bishin will be competing for Harrys attention but in a friends vs more than friends implied sense. I don't think the studio is brave enough to take on full open gay. That said however, I was bothered by the fact that the skater went to the matsuri with Emirus brother and they were both dressed formally.
