He never forces her to do anything and after the time skip, she's the one ordering him around not the opposite.
In the novel it's pretty clear that, Chidori connects with him in the "whispered link" thing which actually weight on her a lot and almost go with him the first time he ask her (and is only stopped by wraith), she's angry at him the second time but more because she doesn't want Sasuke to realize she's did almost left with him, despite being Sasuke "enemy", than the actual offer. Sasuke offer protection and maybe love, but Leonard offer her understanding, potentially a way to fix herself and love too. Sasuke is an high school crush, Leonard is an adult relationship.
They changed it in the manga which is what this is an adaptation of (while previous seasons were based on the novels), which seriously toned down the despair and suffering, made Leonard way more villainous, Chidori way more damsely, etc... (Changes which largely doesn't make logical sense compared to what you know of the chars so far)
And also the disparity amalgam/mithril is far less one sided (which again makes no sense here and there)...
For example you see a simple cargo plane weirdly bombing a high rise which is mithril HQ in australia in ep 1, it's a low end "terrorist with a good plan" thing, right?
By then in the novel, Amalgam has set off high atmospheric nukes (EMP) and Tessa Uncle received her warning in time, go the australian pacific HQ, which is described as a reinforced building with proper ramps to avoid VBIED, guards high walls, some defense, AS on call nearby the Australian army nearby, etc... and is pretty much a fortress and he thinks there is no way it's vulnerable to "terrorists".
And then the building explodes because Amalgam just use several stealth strategic bombers to pummel it to dust.
Amalgalm is basically the "philosophers" of MGS, while there are various faction it's essentially a shadow world government, all the shit before was basically Amalgam contractor, Gauron, going off script and making a gigantic mess. Mithril itself is a rogue faction of Amalgalm, that decided to use the new whispered techs for the good of mankind, while Amalgalm is just obsessed with R&D and understanding what the fuck Whispered tech is, for Leonard faction.

I disagree with that. As in its not bad in the sense badly written or anything. The way FMP was written was always largely serious and dark in tone, with Fumoffu volumes that were school hijinks, in between of each regular one. Anime seasons are a mix of both (and fumoffu is only fumoffu). It brought in tons of fans because the humor part is really fun but the original material was never fun (which is why the humor part is so fun).
Sasuke is largely traumatized by his life and barely aware of it, Chidori is slowly going insane (by the point we are now in anime she hear the whispers nearly all the time) the supporting cast (Mao, Kurz, Kalinin have all semi-tragic back-stories and are a really good portrayal of "lost soldiers". They're in Mithril because they don't have anywhere else to go and their largely miserable life led them here).
The school was set to be the bittersweet memories of Sasuke and his drive to go back to a certain sense of normalcy (and/or youth that was stolen from him) it was never intended to last many volumes (and it doesn't outside fumoffu volumes by volume 4 there is almost no school stuff, it's all the shit outside of the school of second season + Afghanistan of the 1st, volume 6 is the second class trip, and volume 7 is where we're at).
And of course if you have a successful school rom-com series going full balls to the wall dark and bitter isn't gonna do well for the franchise.
Which undoubtedly led to the course correction of the last volumes, which removed all coherence from the story.

That's the subtle thing that is in the LN (but completely disregarded outside of it). Because of the mind meld thing, Chidori does have feelings for Leonard, Leonard does have feelings for Chidori, even if Leonard did loves Sofia which is what drawing him to Chidori, since all three connect on a collective unconscious level.
Chidori choose Leonard because she does indeed relate to him in ways Sasuke will never. Leaonard actually gives her a future. Sasuke is nice. That's a typical romantic dilemma.
Much later on they added that she was parasited by Sofia feelings, etc... But it really feels like damage control (especially with how the manga changes all those parts compared to the novels).
And yeah while Leonard is a prick he never does anything wrong, he knows how monstrously OP Amalgam is and that the various factions have decided they let Mithril do as it pleased far too long with the death of Gates being the last straw (which was universally despised but was still an Amalgam faction leader). So he pleads with Chidori, he pleads with Kalinin, he pleads with his sister (and by that point Tessa should have realized what Amalgam really is) and then he pleads with Chidori again to simply ask them to stop being retards, Chidori just need to come with him, he will guarantee her safety, Tessa need to dial back her "hunt for the supporting terrorist organization "Amalgam"" a notch and everything will be fine.
Also Sasuke largely grows out of Chidori during the subsequent separation arc and fall in love with best girl N°2, which again is character growth rather than NTR.
At the end of that arc, Sasuke largely wants to take on Amalgam out of a mix of revenge, as long as amalgalm exist he will never have normalcy and his guilt to not being able to rescue best girl N°2 is driving him to want to rescue Chidori while he still can. The subsequent Yamsk suffering twist being: Chidori doesn't want to be rescued and goes as far as to kill both Sasuke and Tessa, because she's busy fixing the space time continuum, which was Leonard plan all along.
And that's about where there was a really hard correction (the books were seriously delayed too, almost as if the editor has asked for re-write) and the narration explodes in mid-air (no-one is dead, including characters that previously were sacrificed, Sasuke now feels like a teenager again, all it took was his high school sweetheart to shoot him in the head, Chidori wasn't a complex character with complex feelings (and a bit of a cunt as a result), she was literally possessed and an impotent damsel (because she was really a meek and fragile girl, right?) Leonard was just a prick (and even turn in a pure cartoon villain at the end), Kalinin betray for teh lulz, etc...
So yeah to me FMP is a story that could have been good if the Fumoffu part hadn't made it popular and the publisher tried to appease butthurt rom-com fans and had run it's natural course.

That's what everyone here's thinking and, sadly, that seems to be how everyone involved with making this anime's thinking. They just want to wrap it up as soon as possibe, too. So not only it's a case of dealing with bad source material, there's also too much of it!
But there is more to it. Yep, the source material sucks. The people In charge of it seem to know that, too, and that's even a bigger problem. They just want to get it done as quickly as possible and get it over with. So it's not just bad source material or plot. There's also shoddy scriptwriting, execution and prentation. It just comes of as badly done on every level. I hardly know where to begin with. For one thing, i t's not just ordinary plot compression. Perhaps one could say this is like a reverse Tomo-chan, too much progress in too little time with too little stuff actually happening on screen. It just comes off as lazily done.
This is just so bad I can hardly put it in words.

Well retconned isn't the word for it but it's an insane change of tone in between the three subsequent novel volumes were Sasuke gets his actual waifu killed (and realizing what Chidori and him had wasn't love, but what he has with Nami might be it), he end up linking up with Tessa by chance (and basically tells her "fuck Chidori let's just sell the sub and be done with it" which Tessa can't do to the handful of loyal crew she has and all the people under her that have died) but they convince themselves it's their duty (due to guilt) to save Chidori and stop Leonard (Tessa is actually working with an Amalgalm faction that has realized what Leonard is up to) then you have the whole Yamsk thing where the reader realize with horror the reason why Chidori was bossing Leonard around in interludes is she does not want to be saved (she kills Tessa and Sosuke, they get not dead because there is a time anomaly, but Chidori thinks she killed them, they both remember her killing them). Since Leonard is hurt she's de facto the boss of their faction of amalgam, which set up have a perfect mirror of Tessa/Sosuke with Chidori/Kalinin (love interest/protagonist, former love interest/mentor, betrayed/betrayers) kind of drama, all acting with good reasons, with Leonard as a Joker to make a come back as an Extra Boss.
Next volume (which was considerably delayed) is:

Leonard was never comatose it was just a flesh wound. (Ok).
Leonard is actually violent towards Chidori (he was always a bit weird but he was fucking subservient before that).
It was a mind controlling ghost all along. (Sure there was a prior weird/ghost element but there was never any elements that the insanely stubborn and strong willed Chidori was even remotely controlled by it).
She's a damsel in distress. (Ok, she was barking orders just before, but sure we misinterpreted).
Sasuke must save because he loves her. (WHAT? Where the fuck did that came from, last time he saw her she shot him and Tessa in cold blood! I mean sure he had a crush on her. In High School. 4 or 5 volumes ago, and before so much important character developing events happened to him).
Kalinin betrayed for a vague reason. (But, we had his reason! He realized that their reality wasn't real and black technology shouldn't exist and Leonard is the only one with a plan to fix it. Hell that part actually even made it in the old anime).
All in all only tiny parts are retconned (full retcon is the manga) but so many things set up so far just blow up in mid-air and the entire internal logic of the narration collapses.
