I was expecting this was going to be the episode where things really took off, we got some kind of twist, the stakes were raised, or something. Instead a whole lot of nothing happened, save some robot combat and the power of love BS at the end. Hiro didn't go insane with OniAIDS, it didn't cover his whole body and turn into some kind of power armor, or make him grow horns, or anything. None of the filler squad got killed, or even really injured. The same with all of their robots, which seem in pretty good condition. The wall didn't breach, so we didn't even get to see what's beyond it. Would have been a great opportunity for one of the kids to get smashed through a dome and learn the truth about what's inside them, why they're not allowed to roam around them. All we got was a cheap deus ex machina that wasn't even interesting, some vague hints about 002's motivation, and some new kids who randomly show up at the end. I was expecting this to be one of those rollercoaster, the ride never ends animes, but it's starting to look really tame at this point.

Why does it matter so much what it is in universe, when ultimately, the meaning behind the tumor being fought off/disappearing will remain the same.

My best guess is that the tumor was 02's blood entering Hiro. Her blood beginnings to overwhelm the stamen if it isn't properly assimilated which is what we see as the tumor. Papa said something about mixing bloods, meaning it might go both ways. What Hiro did differently was accept 02's blood and not reject her or be scared of her. That other kid was scared of her, which is why 02's blood hurt him so much.

Can someone explain to me why the music is so heroic in this? Now, I wasn't particularly into franxx in the first place but every time it starts to get kind of interesting the music becomes so excessively unfitting it kind of ruins even the least bit of enjoyment I might have had. They wouldn't have to produce a better soundtrack neccessarily, but it's like the audio designer was just sat down in a room and told "The robots beat up the bad guys for 56 seconds, go crazy" and just left it at that without giving any thought to the rest of the setting or the context.

I'm thinking that it's far too early at this point for the characters to move to another planet. Being as they've treated as a makeshift squad exclusive to their plantation, coupled with the fact that we still have no confirmation of there being other inhabited planets, we'll probably continue to see them stationed at the plantation but can expect the plantation to continue to travel to other locations for the time being.
