They watched it ironically at the beginning. Condition 1 met. People were still interested in it a full year later, even moreso than at first, eventually requiring an entire board to keep their threads contained. Condition 2 met. Nobody specified the ironic viewers and the consistent viewers had to be the same people. The ironic viewers' threads are what attracted attention to it and created the consistent following.

Fennecu is a pretty sweet lass but I'd still feel a bit unsure with her smug face and voice. Oh God, does that mean Raccoon is the doctor? She's got nimble fingers but I can only see her being obsessed washing her hands. The idea behind the Booby/Puffin relationship is basically that Booby's a showoff who appears entirely non-Friend like at first but is actually best friends with Puffin, their minor squabbles worsened by the consequences of the typhoon. Maybe that last squabble near the end was a mistake ? It was intended as a comedy moment on them being birdbrains, but I can see it being not needed.

As for Kaban being a bit cynical, I'm kind of basing it on the impression I got from her in episode 12, that she's outgrown the Friends, and that while she doesn't want to look down on them, she kind of can't help it.
