The first episode was beautiful and really well done, it left me with very high expectations. Then the following episodes I started seeing red flags pop up, more and more, and it just came crashing down into a completely generic shonenshit-tier plot about ebil mastermind keikakudoori nazis. Upotte is the worst kind of bad anime: one with so much wasted potential. The basic premise is great, wonderful even. It's the otaku operator's dream anime. It's like something /k/ would have come up with after three days straight of binge drinking and laying off their autism medication. Unfortunately, said premise is never fleshed out the least bit. They never took time to actually write a story around it! It's just the bare concept you show to a producer or studio in hopes of getting a contract. 90% of the entire anime is either said premise being literally pointed out to us, or explained at length and lampshaded. It's the storytelling equivalent of explaining a joke.
I dropped it after just a few episodes, because the entire time I was watching it, I was shaking my head and saying to myself "so much wasted potential... so much wasted potential" over and over again.

No.778879
Both of these are among the worst of the worst I've seen. The first is an awful adaptation of an actually good VN at least until EP 6, where it just shits on itself and actually calls people out for trying to do the very thing they've been encouraged to do since the beginning of the story. At least the voice acting is decent, but literally everything else is utter dogshit from beginning to end. It's the worst kind of adaptation that not only fails to capture what the original tried to accomplish, but is made to be completely soulless right down to its presentation. I will give it to them, the OP and ED were great.
The second is an absolute travesty that makes an almost offensive use of CGI to draw most action scenes. Imagine a sentai that tries way too hard to be edgy, with character development that is virtually non-existant unless particular characters are forced to act unexpectedly simply in order to move the plot. The 'team' in charge of taking down amalgams (I think that's what they're called) are composed of some of the most incompetent morons on the planet. They're not designated heroes who want to help, but always fail to accomplish something crucial. They're completely unaware of their own setbacks, failing but never growing, never reconsidering. The redhaired guy is probably the member that infuriated me the most. Why is an ex-bike racer enlisted in a special military squad? He barely ever follows orders and mostly yells over people being somehow shocked that his non-homo bro for life turned into a monster. Up to where I've watched he's threatened to be court martialed twice, but almost nothing he does has any consequence. And if none of this is enough, the writers had the audacity to shoehorn some thinly veiled "social commentary" about muh immigrants and muh xenophobia when immigration is implied to be the primary cause of the entire goddamned conflict in the plot which would make the adopted little brother's bullies right all along, hilariously enough.
There are also minor nitpicks that made me think the creators thought nothing through, such as how come a kid whose family is supposedly on the brink of starvation somehow able to attend school regularly, much less afford a goddamned current gen video game?

What a fucking shitshow. I don't even remember how it ended, it was so terrible I am blanking on the details. It was as if they were drawing inspiration from many other series at that point, picking up only the surface details from them, tossing them at the board and hoping them to stick without any of the actual hard work put in to make those themes work. It just felt like you're suddenly watching a fanfic. Shit, it's possible it was a fanfic from the start, just the initial three episodes hooked me in and I quite liked the ending of the season because they were taking risks. But then they just backpedal on everything at the very first episode of the second season and it just goes to complete shit.

I'm still mad about that one. The first episodes are really good then it starts to turn into villain and asspull of the week (so you start to cringe... then it start to seriously overstay it's welcome) but then it turns into perfectly fine space opera building to a great ending nicely tying up the all the arcs. The main story arc, the villain arc, the Slaine arc, the impossible romance arc... it's really neat and well written (for once).
So you're kind of hyped for the next part, because part of it were definitively weak, but it still had some really good parts and it ended on a really high note.
Now because I'm an /a/utist veteran I knew intrinsically that we can't have nice things, so I knew that the second part was gonna be shit.

>got better in season 3
Only if you're taking Tumblr and RoosterTeeth cockgarglers' opinions as law. The only things that made RWBY worthwhile were the combat choreography and the music. Once Monty Oum died and they got rid of Shane Newville to make their pipeline more 'industry standard', they were trying to fill 10+ years of autistic directoral and aesthetic experience with fresh-off-the-boat art school grads. The weird thing is that it keeps getting worse. We keep track of the nightmare over on /rwby/ and somehow they manage to reach new lows in every. single. episode. I think the animators know how bad it is so their turnover rate is ridiculous.
When people say 'it got better', what they mean is 'they improved their graphical power to compensate for the complete loss of the core material'. The musical quality fell apart, too, because Monty coordinated with the composer and the composer was inspired by Monty's work when he explained the combat as a musical tempo, over which their work harmonized. Now it's generic and uninspired.
Season 3 did have some good fights choreography-wise, which were the last efforts of Shane Newville and I think his protege, Dillon Goo. Also, with Monty gone and their marketing having attached itself to the Tumblr crowd, the show is now an implicitly feminist LGBT-friendly safe space, and the simmering racial conflict has gone full #BlackLivesMatter in scale of unwarranted vengeance-seeking, worked in in the most obviously ad hoc artificial ways.
I've been of half a mind to create a video tearing down everything wrong with it for a while now.
Embed is one of Shane Newville's non-RWBY animations, proving that the show could have continued on in only slightly diminished capacity without Monty if RT weren't the shekel-grubbing controlfreaks they are.

This anime was so bad I quit anime altogether for two years.
And after 800+ completed anime titles, FLCL still ranks my most shit of all time. I have finished it on the basis f being a meme of some sort, but never understood the appeal. Any other anime has at least something of value, FLCL just tries to eat at your soul and fails even at that. No plot worthy of note. No consistency. No relatable heroes(even comared to word clip assistant). The animation itself is bad enough to be bad and not bad enough to be too bad, showing wasted animators time. This anime is my main argument why two nukes were not enough. I am insulted this became a thing and gained any traction whats so fucking ever and made me really dissapointed in the human race as a whole. Few animes have ever made me as butthurt as FLCL. The most insulting feature is its consistency in how mediocre bad it is, one can't even compare it to the Room, not to mention absence of any charm in any caracters. The scenes are badly drawn and jumpy while trying to give the good old anime induced epileptic fit but failing even at that. FLCL is forever in my mind since no anime can beat it in absolue trashyness. When I see another bad and even apalling anime I always remember "at lest it's not as shit as FLCL", i.e. at least there was this ONE scene that was kind of OK. They have an interesting concept but waste it on shitty teenage love triangles and overreactions about trivial garbage. The show makes such a big deal over childhood friend being asshurt for getting shafted.
There is this love triangle story in a manga with conjoined twins who both are in love with their doctor, with the older twin secretly so.
Older twin enjoys wearing fancy clothes and pretty high heels but because she grew taller, wears shitty sneakers and gives her sister all her heels so that little sister can walk comfortably. Older sister makes sacrifice while little sister gets to wear pretty shoes and flirt with doctor. I find love triangles boring but this at least has interesting shit going on.
Also, this story is only eight pages long but with Kiznaiver you get episodes of "I'm mad because this girl I inexplicably like is sad because she likes you but you don't like her".
Or "she's sad and that makes me hurt too". Having characters punch and scream over childish shit isn't enjoyable.

First off
>the Room
Go back to /tv/ "patrician"
Secondly I get arguments that the plot was thin but the animation was stellar. If you think otherwise you're objectively wrong.

I'll admit i didn't drop it at first sight, in the beginning it was a somewhat proper adaptation and the OP and ED were pure awesome
But then the slow pace got MUCH slower, some characters changed too much and the last arc, while having a few good moments, was complete shit.
Note that I'm not even talking about the stupid ending, that was the last nail in the coffin. I'm surprised they conviced people to make Gantz:O after that.

> He provides contrast with the rest of the characters.
> He has his own story.
> You cannot read the author's mind.
You can self-insert into every character ever made. All you are doing is projecting yourself to the beta, faggot.

I watched Final Fantasy Unlimited when I was a teenager. To a 14 year old boy, brooding, dark characters like kuroki Kaze and the summon sequences in the series is cool as fuck.

This piece of shit. I can't remember a thing about the animation quality, or the plot of most of the episodes. The only thing I can clearly recall is the blinding rage I had by the end, cheering for the guy to just up and leave all those assholes in the magical world behind to be ground to dust, only for him to turn his damn plane around to save them. I wanted him to strafe them to bloody chunks. Never since have I felt more hatred to a character I was supposed to find "funny" or "cute" than I did towards Louise. Even now, my hackles rise at any tsundere character; ToraDora took me three tries to get through.
