Why couldn't they stay young? Loli Shouko was 10 kinds of adorable.

I enjoyed her mom materializing out of nowhere to slap the shit out of Cat Cunt. Cat Cunt is only good for some hard dickings.

Unironically agree.

The events that happened earlier in the story were a tragedy out of nowhere for the relationship between her and MC

allthough I remember one scene that I did not understand until today. It was at the fireworks and shoko did those hand signs again and there were no explantions what the signs are for. She then went home to attempt suicide. Until this day I want to find out what the signs meant

Then another scene. She seems to have been bullied again and she does hand signs again. It is a flashback so there is no explanations for the hand signs.

File: c38f104a8a48fd9⋯.jpg (191.59 KB, 1387x824, 1387:824, signb.jpg)

Then another thing I am not sure about. Flashback again but it seems to show Shoko and blood coming from her ears? She was at the doctor's with her grandma and I remember the doctor told them something but there was no voice in this part. I believe it was about her ear and that it would not get better. If I remember right it was the same ear that shoya hurt in the past so if I understand this correctly she was getting one of her ears completely destroyed because he was beeing a retard and screaming into her hearing gadget.

This was from the scene at the bridge right? I figured this one out. It is a combination of the hand signs for friendship (clapping together hands) and promise (pinkie fingers interlinked). I guess this implied their fortified bond and that they will be friends forever. Very beautiful scene. The music was also perfect.

Then at their grand mother's funeral was another hand sign that was not explained. Shoko and her sister were standing outside and then a butterfly came across them. Then one of the girls made the hand sign for grandmother implying it was their grandmother's soul flying away like the butterfly.

I find such subtile things beautiful.

I just finnished the manga and I finally understand what you mean. Her having a crush on Shoya was not that clearly visible during the movie I already felt like she might have but holy shit, Ueno was crazy after him and she still was later in the show. No wonder she hated Nishiyama with a passion she still goes at the end of the show. She saw her as competition and interpreted Shoya's bullying as affection towards her. Nevertheless she is best girl and her staying in Shoyas hospital room and taking care of him the entire time is proof of it. What I also like about her is that she does not hide her oppinion and speaks her mind openly. God I hate how she never had the guts to confess her love to him. Everything might have turned out good in the end.

>>772295

This one is interesting because in that scene Shoya did the hand sign for "see you again" while she did not. In all the previous meetings she would give him the "see you again" sign but not in this one so she must have known what she was going to do. I wonder if her hand sign meant farewell or something.

>>772297

I can confirm that this one is "I want to die".

>>772299

In the manga there was no doctor but there was a scene where Shoya hurt her and made her bleed. Later he saw that she still has a scar on her ear from that incident. Then also Ueno met her again later in the story and then made a remark about beeing surprised Shoko was having only 1 hearing device. Maybe she completely lost all hearing on 1 ear.

>>771760

It was an implied ending suggesting Shoya stays with Nishimiya. In the manga there was a similar one with them holding hands in the end but Shoya never had the guts to actually ask her out.

Then also it is really sad how much details they had to omitt for the movie. I wish they produced a 12 episode anime series instead with all the details. All the other character's backstories were either completely omitted or drastically cut.

For example Shoyas sister beeing the town whore sleeping with 30 guys before even settling for the brazillian guy. Or why Mitsuru made creepy photographs of dead animals. Or how Shoko's father just left his family. Or that Sahara was a passionate fashion designer originally inspired by Ueno. Or what the backstory of the 3rd guy was who befriended the crew and how he wanted to become a teacher.

Those details are what really makes a show feel alive.

Then also all the future plans of all characters. If you really want the full experience you need to read the manga. There are so many details that get revealed when characters are having thoughts on a matter.

Manga has the movie subplot though. The film version of cutting out the "let's make a movie" part was great. But overall, the manga is much better.

I didn't mind the movie subplot. What I just found too clichee is that after highschool all main characters go to tokyo to chase their dreams.

that was the passion a wife would feel for her husband and fighting for him with all her power. I am still surprised how Ishida failed again to realize she liked him the entire time.

In the story later on they are in the last year of high school which is from 17 to 18 in Japan.

I agree on your remark for age 10 though. I also felt that the kids look way too young for 6th graders in the early part of the story. But somehow I have this age problem in everything. When I used to watch tv shows about teenagers I thought they look really mature for teenagers when the actors were probably early 20s while filming the show

 No.776145

Saw the movie and thought it was okay, read they manga and ended up liking it less. The manga has a better conclusion than the movie but it still lacks punch, the romance shit never gets resolved either.

Her running off to tokyo gave me flashbacks of that bitch disappearing in nozoki ana. There's no strong closure and the mc seems like he's flailing just as much at the end of the movie, he doesn't really come into his own everyone has their 'thing' except for him and psycho-eyebrows. It bothers me that the story doesn't end with him having way more confidence than he does or even pursuing any of the girls romantically. It's a blueballs ending for me especially since knowing nothing about this story I thought before diving in it'd be a romance story.

Japanese people apologize too much.

 No.776644

just remembered one thing.

Ueno was basically only in love with the former Ishida. Even later in the story she would remind him that the former Ishida would never hand out with those weirdos. So if Ishida was not a failed bully, she might have no sympathy at all for him.

 No.780485

This movie required far more social know how than my brain is able to process

Why did Nishimiya repeatedly apologize after being bullied? Also, why did she jump?

 No.780674

>>780485

She thinks everything is her fault and is sorry for not being able to communicate normally. She also thinks it was her fault when the group breaks up again; if she didn't exist then everyone would be happy.

 No.781267

I read the manga

then watched the movie

The movie is decent, and it's nice to see the characters that I got to know moving and in colour with voices. Shoya's voice was harsh and grating in a way that doesn't come across as well in the manga. I loved the soft art style too. But the manga is just so much better.

The movie had a more clean and simplified approach to the story, whereas the manga developed the characters more, so they weren't just good people or bad people, they were human beings who have understandably become the characters we see.

I also appreciated the manga more because it drew heh the story out for longer so the changes in the characters seemed more gradual and natural. I binged through the manga, and it still took me 2 days to finish, compared to the 2 hours it took to watch the movie.

 No.788694

Just rewatched the end of the movie, and I have to say, they really fucked that up from how it was done in the manga. "Show don't tell aside", not much was shown and nothing was told.

 No.788785

Both the manga and the movie are fucking terrible although the Movie is marginally better than the manga since it has the who and it's shorter. To unironically enjoy the KnK manga, you must be mentally stunted or a literal teenager. The melodrama and bullshit is unbearable. It's sad though because it started off pretty good. It would have been much better if it just were about Shouko and shoya without those stupid teenage ANGST side characters. Should have just been a positive friendship story about redemption and forgiveness, but instead it was just bullshit with a side of bullshit.

 No.788974

>>788785

But what's the point in having shouko and shoya exist in a vacuum.

 No.788988

>>788974

Side characters are fine, but it would have been nice to see their relationship develop on its own. I feel like the author wasn't skilled enough to competently write a compelling story about two people just getting to know each other, so she had to introduce the drama and childhood friend stuff too. The eyebrows guy and his lover girl were absolutely shitty characters and honestly shouldn't have existed. Ueno was needlessly evil. The fat kid was totally pointless and existed just to be stupid. Most side characters, most of the time, were just talking plot devices and catalysts for melodrama.

And forgive me for forgetting some of the names, it's been like a year since I watched this.

 No.790186

>>772295

At that scene when Shouko says she has to go study, she walks off and Shoya catches up to her telling her "See you later" in sign language, after a hesitation she says "Thank you." which is the sign in that picture.
